I am expressing my deep disappointment and dissatisfaction regarding the treatment I received…read moreduring my recent visit to Maplewood Dental. Specifically, I am troubled by their refusal to perform my scheduled routine preventive cleaning simply because I declined a comprehensive set of X- rays. For the past three years, I have been a loyal and consistent patient at this practice, adhering faithfully to a routine schedule of visiting twice per year for hygiene appointments. Throughout this entire period, I have maintained excellent oral hygiene, and I have never presented with chronic dental conditions, symptomatic distress, or active concerns. During my recent appointment, I clearly explained to the dentist and clinical staff that I was paying completely out of pocket for my visit. I explicitly noted that I was experiencing zero pain, discomfort, or symptoms, nor did I have any underlying dental concerns that would clinically necessitate immediate X-ray imaging. Given my financial constraints and lack of symptoms, I requested to proceed solely with the routine preventive hygiene cleaning--a service I was fully prepared to pay for. "Refusing standard preventive cleaning for an established, asymptomatic patient who is paying out of pocket--solely based on an unyielding X-ray requirement--places administrative protocol over reasonable patient-centered care." I was shocked when I was informed that the practice would outright refuse to clean my teeth unless I consented to and paid for the comprehensive X-ray panel. While I understand and respect that diagnostic imaging is a valuable clinical tool, refusing standard preventive maintenance to an established patient with a clear history and no active complaints feels less like personalized healthcare and more like an inflexible operational mandate. Informed consent inherently includes the patient's right to decline specific diagnostic procedures, particularly when paying out of pocket and presenting without symptoms. Because preventive cleanings are fundamental to maintaining oral health and preventing future issues, denying this basic service creates an unnecessary barrier to care for patients seeking to manage their out-of-pocket expenses responsibly. As a result of this experience, I feel that my loyalty as an established patient was dismissed, and my financial and clinical choices were disregarded.

My nails had recently experienced some trauma and it turns out the gel was coming up because two nails had split. I booked same day and was very happy with the experience. I gave 1 star because I am very disappointed with the way I was treated this last visit by JOHN at the front desk. No one wants to go to a spa and be met with frustration. He yelled at me about not coming early enough for parking. My appt was 2:15 and I arrived 2:10 and circled the avenue twice looking for parking. I came in around 2:17 because I parked in the hotel parking lot to come in to talk to them to ensure my appt wouldn't be canceled while I find parking. He ask me , "WHY DIDNT YOU PLAN FOR THE PARKING?" how the heck can I plan for parking? I asked if I should have arrived 5am because that's the only time I could think of that I would be sure to get parking. You guys have a spa that is in a hotel but the spa guests can't use the parking space.. Maybe that's what you need to worry about Mr John or use that loud mouth of yours to push for a parking area for spa guests. 1other time I came and couldn't find parking and the receptionist arranged for me to park in the hotel parking lot. I did not know that was a 1 time situation, but thanks to BIG J's scolding, I now know. It was strange telling a grown man not to speak to me that way and stop attacking me as if he knew me personally. His response was, 'Well you don't know me either.' Bruh, well that's my point. I am a customer to you, spending hundreds of dollars for your service even brought my family there. Don't treat me like an enemy you have a vendetta against. I won't be going back there as long as John is there.. Disappointed

We currently have three children in treatment with braces, and today both of our boys got their braces on while our daughter was seen for an adjustment. This morning, I was under the impression all three kids had appointments at 8:20, but when we arrived, we found out one of the appointments was actually scheduled for 10:00. As a busy parent, that gap was concerning. Cass, one of the hygienists, overheard my concern and immediately stepped in, saying, "No problem, we'll accommodate you and I'll take your son right now." That level of initiative and care was incredible. She didn't wait to be asked she simply saw a problem and solved it. It speaks volumes about the teamwork and leadership in this office. The front desk is always helpful and accommodating as well. We truly appreciate the care our family has received here and highly recommend Dr. O'Connor and her amazing team!
