I've been a fan of this shop for over 20 years. I was disappointed when they moved from just down the street from me to Lincoln Square, but it didn't stop me from heading there to shop whenever I wanted something unique from a gift or my myself. The owners are fabulous, the goods are very well curated, and I can't say enough about the place. I now live 300 miles away, but whenever I get back home, I make sure to get there. And actually, I need to call them Monday and see if I can order something to me shipped to me....they're wonderful that way. read more

This is a great little shop with a variety of eclectic and fun items. They have everything from positive items to improve wellbeing, to incense, to gag gifts, to just simply fun things. They have a small selection of jewelry and they have a number of Buddhist and Hindu items. In the front part of the store, they have several small statues, wind chimes, and wall hangings. After really studying everything, we bought a few small items as gifts but also bought something for ourselves. They had a really nice hanging tree of life with bells - a sort of wind chime. We're thrilled with our purchase. The owners are great - they know their wares and they are very friendly and love to explain what they sell. You have to be a little to the left (politically) to enjoy some of their more fun items. So, if you are a fan of the current political administration (2019), you may want to avoid some of their items. That shouldn't stop you, though. You will most certainly find something you will enjoy. read more

Gallimaufry Gallery is one of the places lending Lincoln Square its distinctive feel. Inside its slightly cramped space you'll find all sorts of treasures. I'm not talking the "thats cool"-and-walk-away experience. I'm talking about the "honey-come-look-at-this". Some of the items available are as follows: beautifull hand made jewelery boxes, hand crafted stemware, an endless selection of charms, incense, icons and ecoutrements of various eastern faiths, woven goods, jewelery. Gallimaufry was in Lincoln Square when most of the other businesses were German delis and gift stores. It's the area's grandma of artisan stores, with a well-established reputation for quality items and a friendly, knowledgeable staff. This is a small, crowded space, so take your time look everywhere. Chances are that there will be any number of items to surprise and delight you. And yes, it's a little pricey, but remember that this isn't Wal-Mart. Much of the inventory is from local artisans who are trying to make a go of it producing quality items. Do not miss this place. read more

Gentle reader, I must admit to you - I have been around the block a few times. I shopped at Gallimaufry Gallery when it was located on Halsted Street, back in the misty dawn of time. I still have rings that I purchased way back then. It was a big surprise to me, a couple years ago, to see that they had moved to Lincoln Square. But what a nice addition! Gallimaufry Gallery specializes in original arts and crafts, some imported, some not. They carry jewelry, buttons, incense, wine glasses, scarves, CDs, devotional objects, scarves, signage and more. Everything is unique and original (maybe the buttons and incense isn't, but hey, that's a minor exception). Is it a little more expensive than what you buy at Wal-Mart? Hell, yes! And it should be! If you want the common, ordinary crap, go somewhere else. If you want something of beauty, something special, something that a friend or relative will treasure as a gift, shop here. It's kind of like buying subsidized, drugged-up chicken instead of organic -- if you want the best, you have to pay a little more. True story: I bought a couple small plaques to hang on the wall that featured quotes about the value of friendship. Nothing schmaltzy or common, but very true. The two people who received these gifts have told me, these things are really treasured. That matters to me. If it matters to you, you'll shop here, too. read more

Neat gifts, freindly staff. Buy yourself some wool slippers! They are SO worth the price. Save your floors, keep your feet cozy warm, wool won't make you sweat or itch either; do your roommate a favor and take care of your stanky feet. I was so pleased to visit Gallimaufry. They have local/American made, sustainably sourced beautiful products - all price ranges. I bought some great ceramic sauce dishes, hand made from recycled glass. Gorgeous. I also bought something that was fabric and greeting cards. However, I have to stick to washable things since my husband has allergies and everything paper and cloth had a strong incense smell. So he can't even visit to buy my birthday gift because he'll start sneezing or have an asthma attack. So, fortunately, most people don't have those sensitivities and I encourage you to stop by and spend a lot of time -- The shop is small but there is so much to check out. A wonderful owner - extremely helpful and friendly. I'll go back for pretty small serving dishes for book club and to buy other gifts. read more

Such an awesome little gem! I love this gift shop! This is the place to find a ton of little treasures that are not available anywhere else. A lot of the things are handmade and one of a kind. Considering the hand crafted nature of most of what they sell, I didn't find the prices THAT high. This isn't cheap Chinese crap here. My daughter was telling me about this great store and I really needed to go, so that's exactly what we did... I have been in many shops over the years, but, I have not seen one that even comes close to the class this place has to offer! When I walked in the door I was welcomed with genuine care! The knowledge that Pat Rodarte demonstrated was brilliant!! From incense to history of nearly every item in the store! He burned incense and gave samples so I could make selections next time I visited his store. He NEVER made me feel I needed to hurry and encouraged us to browse and any question we had, he was able to answer! The little boxes that hardly have seams are just great!!! I have two so far!! I walked in and was immediately greeted by both Michael and Pat (I think thats her name) who work there. The store was filled with beautiful pieces of merchandise, a huge selection of incense, and some great jewelry. I talked to Michael about incense, the history of Lincoln Square and he was helpful and fun to talk to. This place is great to just take a look around in as well as very reasonable in price for their products. Will definitely be back again! read more

An excellent gift shop with hand-made gifts at a range of prices. The staff were very friendly and helpful, they noted that they sell American made products only. There are many unusual gifts, particularly good for female friends and family members, with jewellery, ornaments, and other craft ware. The selection caters for a wide age range, and probably would be suitable for anyone who likes to buy or give beautiful gifts. Men's gifts are definitely represented as well. The shop has a hippy vibe and I am sure sustainability is a value which they value. Highly recommended. read more
