You can also bring your own captain, it's a great option. However, our group chose Pam (owner) to drive us around. The business doesn't charge extra for this service. A big shoutout to Marigold for coordinating and making the reservation. There were eight ppl on the first trip , and everyone was very comfortable during the ride. I've been on a boat ride before, but I have to say, coming from the Coronado side gives you a better view and more to enjoy. And Pam surely knows the sites. Pam, aka the captain, and her wife Diane, the owners, were just the perfect hosts. They were professional, very friendly, and a blast! The boat was very clean, and yes, they have life vests available for each rider. They also rent jet skis, tubing, campers, UTVs. Imagine watching fireworks on the Fourth of July , with the Coronado bridge as your backdrop. I HIGHLY recommend this business and will definitely be back for more water adventures and perhaps an outdoor camping experience. Great opportunity to re-connect with nature. It's not a fast charger but it gives enough power to maintain while I use the truck's energy to run the cooler, use the electric griddle and charge phones. It was perfectly flat and shaded by a huge tree. Close by the restrooms but not right next to them. The restrooms also were pretty well maintained, only running out of tp on Sunday morning, but kept clean throughout the weekend. The restrooms are also heated, which was much appreciated in the evening and early morning when the temperature dipped into the 50s. We plan to return and book a few of the spots around the area for a group camping trip with friends in the future. Only downside was the amount of foxtails but I'm hoping that a spring visit will lessen the amount of those and possibly bring some grass instead. We also liked all the activities around here, including dog friendly hikes and the boat rental. We also happened to be there on a night where they were showing an outdoor movie (Hocus Pocus) and they had a hawk talk during the afternoon.

The campsites have a good amount of shade and the way they're situated provide seclusion. For hikers, it's perfect for accessible trails. There's a mini waterfall for some water fun. And lastly during my stay, an onsite Park Staff drove around the campsite periodically. I'm not sure if it's a routine thing but it was nice to see. My tandem instructor, Simeon, was incredible--so experienced and professional that I felt completely comfortable and wasn't scared at all. He made the whole experience unforgettable. Everyone there was so friendly, and I loved the video too. I got to choose three songs, and I keep watching it over and over. I'd love to come back again. My mother-in-law actually inspired me to do it, and since we share the same birthday, we're already talking about going skydiving together next year as a birthday date :)

Pacific Coast Skydiving personnel was so great! Rosie was always available via phone when I called about what to wear, can I have friends come and watch, can I make video changes because the songs were not right, etc and she was very professional and friendly, and just a sweet person. My tandem skydiver was Phil. He was awesome! We had a great conversation (limited due to the noise level of the plane), and he just made it a fun experience. He did allow me to pull the cords to make it the skydiving parachuted turn-- which my stomach couldn't handle. The video recording and photos were definitely worth the price. I couldn't get enough of watching the video over and over and over again! I loved it! I do recommend for those who get motion sickness easily to 1) wear sea bands and 2) take Dramamine. My husband recommends: 1) wear those silicone earplugs that you insert in your ears because the airplane is really loud and was painful for my husband who also has tinnitus in the ear. Also, the harness was tighten too much on his legs that he felt his leg nerves were in a lot of pain. Overall, I highly recommend Pacific Coast Skydiving and would do it again!

Our visit to Mt. Laguna was AMAZING! The campsite was spectacular, it had amazing views the stars…read moreat night were breathtaking, wild animals (we saw a 5' long gopher snake and tons of birds/hawks). We camped in the Sunny Loop area. This provided a massive campsite with friendly neighbors that were far enough away that we had our privacy, yet easy access to go the bathroom/shower when we needed to. This campsite offers both unplumbed (a full toilet and closed in restroom, but with no running water, so you are essentially doing your business into a hole in the ground), and fully plumbed restroom (this was amazing because the shower temperature and pressure was perfect. The only comment on the restroom situation is that you cannot change the temperature of the shower, at least I wasn't able to figure it out when I was there while wrestling 2 young kids in the shower so it might be possible. There is an amazing hike that is easy to do with littles, it was something like 1.5-2 miles and ends at a beautiful lake. My littles had a blast wandering though nature and picking up pine cones and sticks, while also enjoying the stellar views while riding on dad's shoulders for a good chunk of the hike. This was our first official camping trip as a family and 10 out of 10 it was the best experience and best campground one could ask for. Just be aware, I was expecting that they would have a small store at the campsite to purchase water or other misc. items that got forgotten, but the only thing that you can buy is fire wood from the camp host. So plan accordingly. My kids loved the campsite almost as much as I did, we will definitely be going back to enjoy the beauty that is Mt. Laguna. One more thing to be aware of, you won't have much if any phone service (I have AT&T plus Verizon and neither was getting any service) so if you're not looking to unplug you may want to find another campground to visit, but if you are looking to put your phone and computer down, this is the BEST place to do it!

This review is specific to the group campsite…read more Full disclosure: I am not an avid camper nor do I like the idea of camping in nature whatsoever. So this review is from someone who actually doesn't like camping and won't go willingly. Group site camping was something I was willing to try, given that it's ideal for families and a group site is contained a little better than individual sites. The group site has several tables under a overhang area and there's a nice spread for laying out meals. can accommodate 50 people, unfortunately kids count within that number so the downside is that you do have to be mindful of how many people are in your party. I think the group site could have easily housed 50 adults and 30 kids under the age of 13. There are bathrooms and showers on site to the group site, tokens need to be purchased at the entrance, it's $1 for 2 tokens, and 1 token is 2 minutes of water. One of the families in our group was smart to take a shower as a family before leaving and they didn't need to use as many tokens as they thought they needed. Bathrooms were fairly clean, bring your own soap. I highly recommend the travel soap sheets to throw in your pocket which will dissolve to soap with water. I did find that there were a ton of flies in the picnic area, so remember to cover your food because it'll be annoying. There's a water spigot in the picnic area so you'll be set to boil your water. There are nearby trails that are Kid friendly on this site, which was fun for everyone. Julian was 18 minutes north of this site and it was a nice place to stop by for an apple pie. I would camp here again but only in a group setting. I still stand by not being a camper willingly, at the end I just wanted to leave but it had nothing to do with the actual site. I would've found helpful when researching this campground. *The campground is relatively close to Cuyamaca Lake (about 10 mins away) and Julian (about 20 mins away). *Water spigots are scattered throughout the campground at random campsites. The downsides (in my opinion): *Some of the campsites are on a slope so you have to choose wisely. (Campsites 1-19 seemed flatter than most sites) *The restrooms were also not as tidy as I was expecting but they got the job done. BRING YOUR OWN HAND SOAP. *The showers work on a coin system. This means you use dollar bills to get change in the form of campground tokens (NOT QUARTERS) which you use to shower. The change machine is located outside the restrooms.

My negative experience stemmed from an interaction with the sales department. After purchasing my rig, I had been offered complimentary nights at the ranch. I wanted to stay one additional night beyond that offer and left a voicemail for the sales department asking whether I could pay for an extra night. The following morning, I received a voicemail informing me that they do not extend stays for guests who are there under a sales promotion. While that answer would have been perfectly acceptable, the tone of the message was unnecessarily harsh and could have been delivered much more professionally. When I later spoke with other staff members, I learned that this individual has a reputation for being unkind. That was disappointing because it contrasted sharply with the attitude of nearly everyone else I met at the ranch. Unfortunately, it left me with the impression that, within the sales department, closing deals and earning commissions may take priority over customer service. Having worked in sales myself, I understand the importance of commissions. I also understand that prospective customers are free to decide whether a product is right for them. Ultimately, I chose not to purchase a membership at KQ Ranch. During the sales presentation, the salesperson made several unnecessary negative remarks about competitors, which I found unprofessional. In addition, the only option presented was a lifetime membership, which did not fit my circumstances. I am currently living the van-life lifestyle on a temporary basis and explained my travel plans in detail. However, despite our conversation, the salesperson seemed more focused on following a script than understanding my needs. Within minutes, it became apparent that he had not retained basic information about me, my vehicle, or my travel goals. For example, I specifically mentioned that I do not enjoy hot climates, yet he repeatedly emphasized that several of their locations are in desert areas. That was not a compelling selling point for me and suggested that he was not listening carefully to what I had shared. Outside of the sales experience, I enjoyed many aspects of the ranch. The facilities were well maintained, the store carried useful items, and the laundry facilities were convenient. Overall, the property itself was quite good. The reason I will not return is the customer service I received from the sales department. Before making my request for an additional night, three different staff members kindly helped me determine who to contact. Each of them indicated that asking about an extension would likely not be a problem and wished me well during my stay. Their friendliness made the voicemail I later received feel even more out of place. I also spoke with another guest whose trailer had bats enter it during their stay. They were directed to the same sales representative for assistance but felt they received little support. Instead of using the complimentary night included with their membership, they chose to leave and spend the night in Julian. Experiences like these suggest that the sales department's approach to customer service leaves much to be desired. There is only so much discourteous behavior I am willing to overlook from a sales team. It is unfortunate because the actions of a few individuals can influence whether guests choose to return, despite the efforts of many hardworking staff members who clearly care about the guest experience. One point emphasized during my sales presentation was that competing organizations have locations that are not well maintained. Based on what I observed, however, I found some areas of KQ Ranch's own RV storage facilities to appear less polished than the image of exclusivity and prestige that was being presented. Overall, KQ Ranch has many positive qualities and many excellent employees. Unfortunately, my interactions with the sales department overshadowed those positives and ultimately influenced my decision not to return.
