I've always wanted to go skydiving since I was young, and I finally did it for my 50th birthday at PCS! My tandem instructor, Simeon, was incredible--so experienced and professional that I felt completely comfortable and wasn't scared at all. He made the whole experience unforgettable. I had the best time! There were a total of four of us jumping. We decided that the two of us girls would jump out of their first plane and the two guys would jump out of the second. Pacific Coast Skydiving personnel was so great! Rosie was always available via phone when I called about what to wear, can I have friends come and watch, can I make video changes because the songs were not right, etc and she was very professional and friendly, and just a sweet person. My tandem skydiver was Phil. He was awesome! We had a great conversation (limited due to the noise level of the plane), and he just made it a fun experience. He did allow me to pull the cords to make it the skydiving parachuted turn-- which my stomach couldn't handle. The video recording and photos were definitely worth the price. I couldn't get enough of watching the video over and over and over again! I loved it! I do recommend for those who get motion sickness easily to 1) wear sea bands and 2) take Dramamine. My husband recommends: 1) wear those silicone earplugs that you insert in your ears because the airplane is really loud and was painful for my husband who also has tinnitus in the ear. I was super excited and wasn't afraid at all but if you are scared, they'll put you at ease. I jumped with Simeon and he was fantastic. He's very funny and was cracking jokes the whole time to make you feel comfortable. The jumpers have a lot of experience too, so there's no need to feel worried or scared. ---- How it worked: - The process is arrive 30 minutes early from the booking time - Go thru the gate, they text you the code either the day before or the morning of - Park and walk up to the seating area and building where you are greeted by the staff and jumpers - You fill out liability forms and sign waivers - Then you pay the remaining amount - Next they put the harness on you and then trained on what to do when you jump - Then they film some footage of you, walk to the plane, and take off - They film bits and pieces throughout the entire process like during the walk to the plane, on the plane ride up, and on the jump down - You fly up for a few minutes maybe like 10ish minutes, maybe less? During the flight they pointed out some places like the Mexico border and some prisons, they also open up the door so you can get a better view - It's very, very loud on the plane especially when they open the door, so if possible I'd ask if they have ear plugs or if you can bring your own - Once you reach closer to the altitude, they attach onto your harness, put on the goggles, then they open the door and you jump! - They let you steer the parachute a little bit and you can do spins, but if your like me and get motion sickness I'd recommend taking some medicine before hand or skip the spins haha - On the landing, you keep your legs up until they tell you to walk/run - On the ground, they detach from you, remove the harness, then you hop into their van to drive a couple minutes back to the building area you arrived at - They compile the footage from their GoPros into a short video to preview which took a few minutes - You have the option to buy the photos and videos at the end of the jump or if you want to decide later, they say they save all the footage just in case ---- My only gripe is that the plane ride up was reallyyy loud and I have sensitive ears, they didn't give any protection like ear plugs unfortunately, so my ears were hurting a bit during the ride :( beside that everything was very quick and great ---- Other notes: - The entire process from arrival to finishing watching the videos of the jump was around an hour - They said be prepared to spend 2 hours there but I think that's if there are larger groups of jumpers, we had the 10am appointment and were the first ones there so it was really quick - In their waiting area there's a lot of tables and a ping pong table as well - There are 2 bathrooms available and a water dispenser if you're thirsty ---- Overall: A fun experience to check off the bucket list, there's no reason to be scared, great staff and jumpers, ask about ear protection tho! It was exceedingly easy to book, my size (6'6", 270) was easily accommodated, everyone was very friendly and informative, great atmosphere, well trained, confident, humorous, and kind guides made the experience easy (being a little spoon didn't even feel that awkward), and my guy even let me steer the parachute a little on the way down (which was a blast in and of itself). They not only did a great job pre dive day by texting updated logistics but also communicating the day of and what we (divers) needed to do. Simeon was my tandem dive instructor and was excellent. He did an awesome job ensuring what I needed to know and do during the dive. Post skydive, the photos and videos I purchased were sent the same day at the end of the day. Amazing quality and very easy to download (emailed via Dropbox). They however got one of my songs wrong but were able to fix it. You just have to let them know. I'm so glad we went with Pacific Sky Diving for my boyfriend's birthday. I had plenty of options to choose from, but went with the most highly rated spot on yelp since I had no idea what I was signing myself up for. We were incredibly satisfied with our experience & can't wait to check out their location in Hawaii! We arrived about an hour early to get checked in & it was busy, which was no surprise since it was Labor Day weekend. The staff worked diligently to get everyone checked in & set-up with harnesses/gear. Considering how early we got there, we assumed that we would have to wait until the scheduled dive time, but they ended up calling us earlier than expected, which was pretty awesome because no one likes to wait. For our dive instructors, we got Jamie & Lucas, who were right-off-the-bat super friendly & made the entire experience much more memorable. They were both so helpful & light-hearted which definitely allowed for us to build instant rapport & trust and kept the nerves from building. Jumping out of a plane with a stranger can be nerve racking, but Jamie & Lucas did a great job easing any worries & best of all- MADE IT FUN! Added bonus- we bought videos and received it the same night! Love how quickly they were able to turn it around. Great experience. I went to another place before many years ago and it was cool (no complaints), but this was a much better experience. I like the smaller plane with just a few people on it. Less waiting around and more personable. I will say, the other one was a decent bit higher in elevation and lasted a bit longer, but overall this one was still more fun. Look man. I booked with these guys because a Helo pilot I know flies out of Brown Airfield and because it's close to downtown. (15-20 minute drive). I came here for my first skydive and it was a blast. Like many people, skydiving was part of my bucket list. I was kind of skeptical since it was pretty cheap for a skydive. I loved it!! You go in through a gate with a code they give you. When I got there, I was greeted by a female employee. She let me know directions and gave me waiver to sign. I hadn't purchased videos for my jump but they said they would record me and let me choose after the skydive. The video came out good. High quality. I bought it right away. You can choose three songs and they match the three songs to each part. My instructor's name started with letter D. I forgot his name but he was really good. The best. Over the past 2+ years I lost roughly 175 pounds. During that time, going through everything I went through, I kept telling myself my prize for reaching my goal would be to go skydiving. Today was that day!!!! I researched the three big skydiving outfits and choose Pacific Coast because the experience as described on their website sounded like the best. Their price was also comparable to using Groupon for the other places. First impression wasn't great, the place looked a little sketchy but I rarely judge a book by its cover. I remember not having a good feeling until We were immediately greeted and everyone was friendly and kind. We had to fill out waivers, no big deal. Jumping out of an airplane, you have to expect the waivers. :) We both wanted videos & pictures so we paid for that and they allow you to choose three songs to go in the video. One for the plane ride up, one for free fall, and one for after the chute opens. They have a book of recommendations, but will download any song you wish. I wish I knew this so I could plan ahead and pick songs. We were assigned our tandem skydiving experts. I got Lucas, dude was straight up amazing. He was funny, kept me calm, explained everything clearly, and most importantly, got us on the ground in one piece. I was literally freaking out inside my head, but playing it cool on the outside. I call that the duck on the water. On the surface, things are calm and smooth, but beneath the surface everything is going nuts. The initial drop was awesome, it was pure bliss, freedom, excitement....the view was amazing, the feeling was addicting. When the parachute opens, it gives a slight tug but then you slowly descend. He did some awesome turns and even let me drive for a minute. I loved talking to all the other jumpers, rather they were about to jump or just got back. Everyone was so happy with the experience, and just an absolute delight to chat with. The whole experience was simply amazing!!! read more
