Would give 0 stars if possible. My husband and I needed a rental since our car was in an auto body shop after hitting a deer. We booked a rental on 7/27 to pick up on 7/28 at 8:30 am. We go to the Dixon, IL location and arrive at 8:18....go to the door and pull the handle locked. Try it again, same thing. Peek through windows lights on and no one around in office. Tried calling......."on hold" for 12 minutes and then it hangs up. We waited 20 minutes when finally a gentleman who works in the detailing department comes out and asked if we needed a car. We told him we were picking up a scheduled car. He told us, "To be honest with you I don't know when anyone is going to be in. I've tried texting them and they won't respond. This isn't the first time it's been like this. They may show up at 9 or not til 11....I don't really know. We've had people 10 deep waiting outside before because no one is here. There's been times when I've been in the office quick, phones ringing off the hook and they refuse to answer the phone even when no one is needing in person help." If your own employee is calling out the issue then you KNOW it's bad and I appreciate his candor! Needles to say we did not get our rental at the scheduled time and now have to go back and hopefully they are open this afternoon. Will never rent from this location again. Difficult to get ahold of....tried calling multiple times prior to this to get a car and no answer...it times out waiting on the phone then hangs up. Also filed a complaint with corporate....if your slogan is "Enterprise....we'll pick you up" this location is "Enterprise....we'll leave you hanging." read more

Had a vehicle scheduled to rent and when we went to pick it up we were told that one was not available, come back tomorrow and we will try to have a vehicle for you. Left us high and dry and they really didn't give a shit! Disgusting! UPDATE 5/6/2026. We were told to come back on 5/5/2026 for a vehicle, when our insurance contacted them on 5/5/2026 to make sure we had a vehicle they were told its possible that they might have a vehicle for us to use after 3 PM. BUT would not guarantee ANYTHING! What a way to operate! Our insurance company obtained a car from Avis for us 20 min. after the phone call with Enterprise. ALSO, Like so many other ratings you see here you will see the "Enterprise Management" comment with the please contact us bullshit statement. NO! First of all, You have my information, you call me! And don't say you don't have my contact info because the Dixon Illinois Enterprise office called me a few weeks ago to verify the rental dates my insurance company set up for us. SECOND! I had a reservation with Enterprise in Dixon for a truck for 5/30-6/6/25. I was going to pick it up at 1pm. Around 9:30 on 5/30 I got a voicemail stating they didn't have a truck for me. I called and they said they could get a cargo van in Rockford for me. I asked if they were bringing it to Dixon for me and they said no. I told them this wouldn't work for me because it was the wrong direction I was going Jeff from Rockford did call and leave me a vm but I didn't call him back because I wasn't going to make it up there by the time I got off work. I needed the truck to move things to my son/DIL new house. i had taken a week off work. So I had to scramble last minute to get airline tickets for my other son and I to get there plus get a rental truck down there since I wouldn't have this truck and I couldn't move the stuff from my house. Now I have to rent another truck and take more time off work to move the stuff from my house. Very frustrating. This isn't the first time something has happened. Just a month prior I had a truck reservation and the day prior I got a call asking if I really needed a truck. I said yes I was moving my son home from college. Thankfully they got me a truck that day. I sent a letter to Dixon and their main office. Travis the area manager reached out to me and left a voice mail. I tried calling back. The phone number says disconnected. I called the main number in St. Louis and they were going to get him a message. Still haven't heard anything. Don't have truck reservations as an option if you can't fulfill it. I'm a repeat rental customer but will be looking elsewhere. The app for rental is crazy. But I got a nice call from, I believe, the owner. He didn't have the vehicle I wanted and asked if I was moving people or stuff. I said stuff. He recommended a minivan. The seats fold down with a tin of room. He sure was right. I had a lot of room, and it was actually better than what I wanted. I was in a car accident in August and my insurance told me they would paid for my rental car for a few days since my car got totaled. I had an expired license due to COVID and they said they couldn't rent the car after I had talked to them on the phone prior to going to the location and they said it was fine but I went and got my license renewed and was able to rent the car with no issues. The employee was super nice and made sure we checked the car out and I also made sure she made notes of a few scratches that was already on the vehicle before I drove off with the vehicle. Thank you for making this smoothly especially when I was so stressed out after my car accident. read more

I reserved a car 4 days before it was due to be picked up. The day of the pickup, I called at 10am to inquire if it was ready because I needed to arrange transportation. They told me they hadn't received any of their cars for the day and they'd call me back soon. I heard nothing and called back at 3:30pm. I spoke with the same guy and he told me they never got any cars all day and he would call around to other shops and find one. "I'll call you back in 30 minutes, I promise" is what he told me. At 4:15, I canceled my reservation and booked with a competitor. This is the second time I have had a horrible experience with this Enterprise office and I will NEVER give them business again. read more

I reserved a vehicle on May 5th for June 26th, pick up time 1130a at the Dixon, IL store, the morning of June 26th I received a phone call at 830a that there was no vehicle available for us. Someone "covering" that day did call around and get us a vehicle, but WE had to drive from Dixon to Freeport to get it, our gas our time and OUR gas in rented vehicle. When we returned it they charged us for 2 gallons of gas $9.89 total. Also when we reserved the vehicle it accepted the drop off day to be on Monday July 5th, we returned the vehicle an hour early on that day at 1030a cleaned too, to find the store closed, we dropped the keys in the drop box and left it. When returning our deposit they deducted another $44 for another day because they were not open, keeping a total of $52 of our deposit! I called and complained, employee stated his boss would send me a new invoice with charges corrected and reimbursed, today is July 13th and refund or new invoice yet! We learned from the store employee that several people did not get a vehicle either on that day, VERY POORLY RAN BUSINESS! WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BUSINESS L! read more

Incredibly dissatisfied with the service we were given at this location, and then by many other customer support agents and locations today. A month and a half ago I reserved a Mid Sized SUV to be picked up at this location today, 6/19/21, at 12 pm. When I arrived at the location, the man said that all they had available was a small car instead. We are this afternoon traveling to Colorado Springs from Sterling Il with a family of four and all items required to meet the needs of said family for 6 days time. When I told the man at the Enterprise location that this would not meet our needs, he let me know with a shrug of the shoulders that he had tried to call the day before to let us know that there were no SUVs available. No follow up texts or e-mails were sent to make sure that we were notified. Even if they would have reached us through some form of communication, they intended to notify us that they were not able to meet our confirmation the day before pick up for a vacation that we have been planning for months!!! This is completely unacceptable. I then reached out to customer service. They at first sounded promising...willing to locate a car at a different location. The agent then directed me to a location with a SUV available 1 hour away from my home. While this would have not been ideal, it was something, so I contacted that location. When I reached them, they said that they would be able to get me into a comparable vehicle, however they were expecting me to pay hundreds of dollars more than my reservation. So they too were unwilling to meet the reservation that again, I had made almost 2 full months ahead of time. While speaking to the manager at that location (Quad Cities airport), she informed that there was nothing she could do because they were on a different operating system than the initial location I had booked with and I needed to follow the correct channels to get this taken care of. I then contacted someone on Enterprise's website via chat at about 1 p.m. in desperate need to find someone to help. Apparently they have a procurement division that handles things such as this and should be finding a vehicle for me, then contacting. It is now 2 hours after I have spoken with this agent on line, with 2 hours to go until the latest time we can leave in order to make reservations already made states away from our home, and have yet to hear a peep! This is completely unacceptable. What is the purpose of making a reservation, if it will not be honored? Even in a much less planned out, less expensive customer experience scenario you would expect better customer service than this. If I order a sandwich from a fast food joint, and they mess it up, I expect them to fix it if I ask....not tell me that they can't, but if they do, said sandwich will now be $8 instead of the initial price of $3 because of their mistake! To put salt on the wound, I drive the car to work and one of my fellow workers notifies me that I have a tail light out. I call enterprise and they want me to drive your car back to their mechanic which involves a 35 mile run trip. I tell them no way because I am leaving within an hour or two. My friend and I are out in the rain wind and cold changing The lightbulb. Unbelievable that they are still in business. Update. Update 2 I received a computer generated email from Enterprises computer Connie saying "how sorry she is about my experience and wanted to contact me and talk about it. Well I emailed her and gave her my home phone number ,and guesse what ,,,no call back. Actually I won five dollars because my wife was so gullible to think that they would call and took my bet. read more

I'd say that this is more of a 3 1/2 star review. The staff is actually pretty nice. Katie actually knows her stuff and is on top of her game. The guys are kinda hit-or-miss, but Katie places a face to the name. And she's on top of that paperwork. One of the things I hate about long term rentals is that you have to check in every month or so...Katie is the only person EVER to call me about this. And most of my life the last three years have been spent in rentals. I was putting on about 6,000 miles on the car each month, so I knew that it would have to be brought in for maintenance...I think I threw them off the first two times because honestly, my schedule is unpredictable so if I have to come in with the car to get the lease renewed and the car needs an oil change, I'd want to get the oil change done, bring in the paperwork, and renew my lease instead of coming in, being told I need the oil change, go get it done, and bring the paperwork back. But by the end of the lease, Katie was writing down the mileage for when I would be needing the oil change. Then I had to switch cars. I had switched cars several times already due to car problems, and then had landed a hatchback. I have really nothing against hatchbacks, except it's a smaller car and the one I had got worse mileage than its car counterpart. The St. Louis locale had dismissively told me to just switch it out at a different location...so I tried. I tried three locations without any success, and then finally called up Katie because she was closest to home base for the time being. From what I've read, people actually really have a hard time switching out cars when they electively want to, so I think this is an Enterprise thing, not a branch thing. I can understand it being hard in Dixon because a) it's a small town, and b) it stays pretty busy so the fleet rotates pretty fast while still being a limited fleet. That's why I left the Dixon branch as my last option. It took a week of me calling, but Katie got it done. read more

I used this location as my first time renting for vacation. I spoke with Katie numerous times over the phone but when I picked up I was helped by someone different. When returning the rental I noticed the bill was about $100 more than what I was initially told it would be that's even with the deposit. I called and spoke with Katie about it. At first she seemed a little aggravated and argumentative. She explained the extra cost are from Road Side Assistance etc. I was never told about the extra cost. Of course the person who helped me would tell her that she did explain the extra cost (not the case for me though). I said we would pay it but it really should be explained before signing the contract and really just wanted to make them aware of explaining things better. My first time renting a car and the staff there was phenomenal! They acknowledged me the moment I entered the door with a handshake and smile. I was having a really awful day and I was a tad bit cranky. I know my attitude was not the best but these guys never once showed any form of animosity. The manager there continue to smile and help me get everything set up with my insurance company. I was in desperate need of a car, so I reserved a car on the Enterprise website. I received an email confirmation stating that the car was reserved, and would be ready, but when I arrived at 7:30am I was told that they didn't have a car for me but they could get me one later in the afternoon. I informed them that was too late because I had some place I had to be, she didn't seem concerned about it and again said that was all she could do. Where do I start. We were moving and had rented and received the confirmation indicating all was well for a moving van. We also went to the location in Dixon and verified several weeks before and was told we were ok. Day before the move the " manager" called and said it would not be available. We were moving 800 miles and no van. I was told the van was needed longer by the individual renting it at the time. Nothing could be done. I asked for the Regional manager and spoke with him. He told me they don't rent vans and I find out I was lied to by the office "manager". The Regional manager said as a good will gesture he would have a check sent for the amount of the rental to defray the $1000.00 cost for me renting a U-Haul. Well, we never got the check (3 months now). All I can say is a despicable "team" and needless to say Enterprise will never be on the list for us and our family and friends. read more

The girls were very nice to deal with however I had reserved a Premium vehicle and none was available. This was an insurance rental and they gracefully put me into an SUV for the price of a full sized car. Upgraded me to a nice pick up truck a few days later. My biggest complaint is the telephone issues. I have repeatedly tried to call this office and am left on hold for several minutes with nobody picking up the phone to acknowledge my call. Several attempts, same issue. This was addressed with the staff just weeks ago and it still is a major issue. The staff is polite and addresses concerns directly but the issues with answering phone calls is quite annoying. Who has time to sit on hold for 20 minutes or more? The vehicles were clean and like new which is a plus as well as the personal service from the staff. But again the telephone issues are very discouraging. May rent again but likely since my son works for a competing company I will go through them next time. read more
