Dont rent from them. They are shysters. I rented a car in January for a week from 114 Commerce Drive in Fairfield CT. The key was broken, the metal part was coming out of the plastic key fab. When I returned the car I let the representative know about it. His name was Zack. I few days later I see a change on my credit card for about $250. I called Zack and was told by his associate that this is the charge for the broken key that they have to repair. I told her that I did not break the key and it was already broken when they gave me the car. Zack later called and said it was no problem and they refunded me the $250. Then a few days later, after speaking to their manager, they charged my card $131.22. When I called they said the manager told them its "either they pay to repair the key or the customer and they decided that to charge me half was fair". I repeated that I had nothing to do with the key and that I did not break it. The lady told me that because I did not inform them right away that the key was broken I was responsible for it. This is my second time using the service of a car rental service in the past two weeks and I am surprised to say how amazing the service was at Enterprise. I called before visiting the office to ensure they had my reservation and the young lady-Sharice (sp?) who took care of me went above and beyond to make sure I was all set. She explained everything I needed to do to ensure the insurance company took care of all costs. The intake process went smoothly and I was in and out rather quickly. All of this happened while having to deal with inclement weather which was occurring and even still they served with a smile! read more

Reserved a car on Costco travel which I've done several times at different locations around Fairfield. We needed a car as ours would be in the shop a few days. My husband dropped our car off to be fixed at the shop and took an Uber to enterprise to pick up the car. They refused to let him rent it as it is their requirement to have a gas or electric bill with you with your name on it to rent. I have never heard of this policy nor had any rental place asked us for this before. I They wouldn't accept our insurance card, pay stub, several forms of ID, JUST a gas or electric bill. Needless to say I will never return. 10/2/19 I have since emailed, as they have requested, with all the additional information and have yet to receive any response. Would love to know if their treatment was racially motivated as I've spoken to several others who have used this location and although they have also complained about their poor service they have never been asked for a utility bill. read more

Terrible. No online payment option and they give you a hard time if you want to use a debit card. Their "corporate policy" is that they have to use an antiquated physical swipe on your credit. There is no amount of valid identification that can resolve this. No online payment, no mobile payment, no way to put a card on file... IN 2013!!! Really unbelievable. It's a disgrace that they treat their customers with LONG rental histories no better than a common thief! This is no way to maintain a business relationship. They are basically a burn and churn shop that doesn't care about existing customers. The "management" there is next to non-existent and seems to care nothing about customer satisfaction. My car broke down 80 miles from home. Had to leave my car at auto repair shop overnight. Called to rent a car to get me home from Enterprise who was about 9 miles from shop. Called at 2:00 and they told me they couldn't pick me up until 4:30?! I had to take a cab that cost me $30. Got the car rather quickly and was on my way. When I was going to return the car the next day I proactively called in advance to make sure someone would be there to drive me back to the shop to get my car at 3:00 because I was on a schedule. They assured me they would but when I arrive at 3:00 they had me wait another 45 min while the driver took another customer to their destination. I spoke to salesperson about it and no compensation was offered. Not cool Enterprise. You need to hire more people. read more

My rental smelt really bad when I first got it. I left the windows down for the first day. About three days later the tire pressure was low I had to take it back to enterprise to get some air. This happened 2x. Every time I turned the AC the car also smelt pretty bad. I tried calling a couple of times about the problems I was having but was not able to reach anyone. The day I brought my rental back I needed a ride to pick up my car at the shop. I called the day before and left a message no one called me back the following day. I rented a car from Enterprise Car Rental (114 Commerce Dr, Fairfield, CT). $50 per day was covered by Geico and I was to pay any balance over and above this amount. When I arrived at Enterprise I was informed (as I had been previously on the phone) that the car I wanted came to $54.48, meaning I would have to pay an additional $4.48 per day for the car rental. I was told that this was the taxes. This was confirmed by the manager there, Kamal. (Person helping us was Natalie). Coincidently we went to Enterprise located at Fairfield Collision Center (where we were taking our car) and I told the gentelman there about the charges and asked if he had a cheaper car for us? He looked us up in their system and told me that the car would be $51.40 (meaning I would pay an additional of $1.40 per day). I asked if he was sure and he said that it pops up in their system and all their systems would be the same. We figured it was a mistake and when the time came to pay, they would obviously charge us what their system had asked for. When we returned the car, it was returned to Fairfield Collision Center branch (as we were told this would be fine). They would later call us to confirm additional charges. A few days later I get a call from Natalie from Enterprise Commerce drive where we had rented the car informing me that they were charging the $4.48 additional per day. At this stage I asked her to break down the cost: $44.75 + %3 + %9.25 + $1 per day tourism charge. I asked her to put this into a calculator and we have $51.40. Meaning I owe $1.40 a day. She put me on hold and came back grudgingly accepted that this was the correct charge. How come the $51.40 didn't just pop up on her system!? Now I have to add the other issue, the car was given to me with a tank full between half and three quarters. I returned it between half and three quarters. They tried to tell me that I had returned it below full and would be charged $20. When we agreed that the car was not given to me with a full tank, she started telling me that the gas was below the half mark. I also had to complain about the fact that the car should have been given to me with a full tank, so I could return it with a full tank and not some arbitrary distance between half and three quarters. I have never seen this at any car rental company and I guess this is precisely why they dont do that - because it becomes a dispute of where exactly that gas sign was when it was rented. Was it on a hill, did it show more or less?! Anyway there is a reason why full is the usual standard. Finally she accepted and said "fine! I won't charge you for the gas". As if she was doing me a favor. This whole conversation had happened before the disagreement on the taxes. After I pointed out the the taxes were miscalculated she decided to go back and say she was charging me for the gas! Trying to negotiate an amount to meet me in the middle. So at this stage I had to outright ask her if they were trying to scam me one way or the other!? Long story short we agreed that she would charge my credit card $11.28. Credit card statement comes and I look to do my checks and balances. Enterprise have charged me $31.18! This is a fraudulent charge to my credit card, since the amount was not agreed upon. I have reported the charge to my credit card company and expect that they will be looking into the matter. I have also reported this to Geico and asked them to look into the company they do business with and have their customers rent cars from. I believe that there was some sort of scam they were trying to pull with the taxes, trying to charge extra for gas and there was definitely fraud on my credit card. If they were standing by their charges, they should have informed me on the phone. When the discussion revealed that I only owed $11.28 and an agreement was reached to charge $11.28 it is absolutely outrageous that they charged $31.18 without informing me. NB: The $$$ amount is not the problem. The problem is that there was no transparency in what their charges would be and it should not be allowed that a business agree to charge X and charge Y to a customer's card without informing the customer! Even if it is a single dollar more than the amount that the customer is told they will be charged. read more

The people who worked there were nice, polite, and efficient. The car however was GROSS. It reeked of cigarettes. I rented the car to go to a meeting and I was afraid the people I met with would think I spent the day chain smoking. The seats were stained and the outside of the car was peeling paint. Overall it got me to where I needed to go but I was highly disappointed with the condition of the vehicle. read more

The staff was so helpful! The car had pet hair and dirt in it. I couldn't wait to return it. I paid $75 a day for a compact car. I don't think I've ever paid that much at Enterprise. I was also told by the reservation line that if I placed the rental on my major credit card, I would pay a $150 deposit and the cost of the rental would be deducted from the deposit upon return. Wrong! I had to leave a $250 deposit plus the cost of the rental totalling $400. Fortunately I had the funds available but this could have easily posed an issue for someone that may be limited on funds. Great staff as mentioned (thats the only reason I'm giving 3 stars) but I think I'll stick with Toyota Rent A Car in Milford. At least I can get a full sized vechile for $40 a day.. read more

Since March 2006, the Enterprise staff on Commerce Street in Fairfield, CT have made it possible for me to care for my 96-year-old mother. I live in Washington, DC, so if she needs my help, I ride Amtrak to Bridgeport and rent a car from Enterprise. Staff have always been very accommodating. When my mother had a stroke on June 13, I left DC immediately for Bridgeport Hospital. Two exemplary Enterprise employees made this difficult time go smoothly. Dan Laprade checked me in with exceptional skill and empathy. He provided the perfect small car that was comfortable and met my needs. After my mother recovered, we celebrated her 96th birthday with family and friends. When I returned the car to go back to DC, Bayton Foot drove me to the station. He too was helpful and considerate. I came back to CT last week to visit my mother. On August 2, I returned the same red car to Enterprise. This time Dan drove me to the train station, remembering me, my mother, and my DC-CT commute. Such attention and civility are rare in corporate culture. I hope to work with these employees during future trips to CT. read more

0 stars. Not one. Yelp needs to allow no stars. Rented car at commerce drive location. Got an older model Chrysler 200. Took out insurance on car because we just rented it after our car was rear ended and wanted to be careful. Well we returned the car and was blamed for a small dime sized (dent) below the door frame. We did do a walk around before hand and did not notice but it was rushed. Upon return there seemed to be an excessive inspection about ten minutes trying to find something. Well they did find something. Something you had to know was there in order to find it. Now they are putting in an insurance claim and told me don't worry you bought the insurance you don't have to pay. Well if we did not do it your insurance should not have to pay. We will be contacting the insurance company and telling them if our concerns that they are being taken advantage of to fix a car that is likely to be sold. It makes no sense whatsoever to send this car to a body shop over such a little unnoticeable ding. Will post pic if I could figure out how. read more

Don't rent a car from Enterprise... This review is for both Enterprise Rent-A-Car Corporation and the 114 Commerce Drive location. Sorry it's a long-winded review but, that's what is takes to explain the level of my frustration... I recently rented a car for business from Enterprise and was put through a series of idiotic "corporate policies" all in a rather patronizing manner. First, I was out of state with a company Visa credit card in both my name and the company's name I work for. The credit card name matches my driver's license name as well. They refused to accept it due to the company address not matching my driver's license home address because, it was all out of state. I explained to them that a majority of out of state workers do not live where they work, not good enough and was read their "corporate policy" all under the name of "fraud protection". Unsuspecting business travelers must be caught up in this all the time while having major ramifications... They made me put the entire approx $400 bill +$250 deposit on my personal debit card. Which wiped out my checking account. Very embarrassing having to phone my employer and disclosing how much money I had in my bank account while having to request my next paycheck be post dated and given to me in advance in the next couple days to cover all this. Enterprise claimed when I turn the car in I could then use my company card and my personal Visa would be reimbursed, 4 days later with a hold period all while turning the car in out of state, back to the same state. Later, turns out I find Hertz and Budget in the same town does not do this to you, if your name matches the credit card and driver's license, it's good! Second, My state's driver license was accompanied by a paper change of address card (that is how my state sanctions a change of address), not good enough. They looked at me like I had three heads holding this paper card change of address card and was going to have the manager look into it. Then they had to make a series of calls to verify my change of address card. Third, after finally getting put through the ringer, all that for a crappy little beat-up Hyundai that is absolutely disgusting inside, fresh beverage spills on the floorboards, stained up seats and a strong cover up smell trying to cover a worse smell, windows and mirrors all had a film on them that caused a terrible glare at night and had to clean them all... Honestly, I don't expect everything to be perfect in my life but I really don't appreciate being held under the suspicion of guilt on fraud the second you walk through the door to trade money for services. Also, if I'm made to jump through a bunch of humiliating hoops, give me something I can feel good about in return, not a crappy stinky beater. read more

Cars ALL smell like cigarettes. So bad that we had to return it. The next car still smelled and by the next day the check engine light came on and the car made weird noises. when we called they said it was just taken to be serviced. Why do they rent out cars that smell like ash trays and aren't properly serviced? Never again. My advice... go to HERTZ! read more
