This location is very unprofessional. For the second time in 2 weeks I called to have a reservation made. Being told that yes the vehicle is available. Only to be called by the this local enterprise in Front Royal and being told my reservation has to be cancelled as they have me vehicles. Who ever the district manager is they need to be terminated and have a reliable district manager take their place. The inventory for these locations need to be updated continuously to reflect they have no available vehicles for rent. I have driven over 30+ miles to other enterprise locations as I was told they had cars available there. Only to get there and be told there are no cars available. As a corporate Gold Enterprise Plus member this is very concerning. I have been in contact with the corporate management team who will be looking into why this continues to happen. read more

No Way to Run a Company Yesterday, I had to travel from Front Royal to Herndon, Virginia (about 1.2 hours away). I thought I would get the final diagnosis, so this would be my last trip to see the multiple system atrophy (MSA) specialist. My car was in the shop for maintenance. I figured I would rent a car for the day. I made a reservation with Enterprise. Excellent. I would pick up the car at 9:00 AM and have it back the same day. Problem. Despite the importance of my trip to see the MSA -- a fatal disease -- specialist, I received a call from Enterprise just over an hour before I was scheduled to pick up the car. The car I had reserved -- with a reservation number and -- everything. The Enterprise employee was calling to say they would not have a car for me. WHAT!? I emphasized the importance of my appointment with the doctor (must wait 2.5 months to get an appointment), but the employee did not care. He just kept repeating, "We will not have a car for you today." (I would have to cancel the appointment with the doctor at the last minute.) Now what would a good employee with a decent customer service attitude do? Call around to see if a car could be secured from a different Enterprise location. (If there were a car available in Winchester, it could have been driven to Front Royal in less than 30 minutes. Nearly an hour before I was to pick up the car.) No effort was made. If no Enterprise location within 45 minutes or so had a car, a person who cares about a customer who desperately needs a car would call other companies. Not done. I asked that a supervisor call me within 30 minutes. No call was received -- all day. Now there was stress I didn't need, especially on that important day. What if I chose to keep a car rented from Enterprise, which also owns National and Alamo, an extra day, but they needed it back for a customer with a reservation? I wonder how they would handle that little problem. I guess they would have to call the customer to say no car would be available, despite their reservation. Enterprise is a disaster. If you had a positive experience with this company, good for you. I would be embarrassed to do business with such people. I am contacting the CEO, BBB, attorney and news outlets. Enterprise needs to eliminate this franchise to avoid big problems. If it's a corporate-owned store, they need new management and employees. Now! read more

Is it possible to have zero stars? My insurance has a relationship with this corporation to directly pay them for rentals due to repair or loss. I called the local office on September 23rd to reserve a car for October 18th. My insurance also sent the office my reservation information that day. On the 18th after dropping my car, Enterprise said that they didn't have my reservation and that I was out of luck. I told the man that I had to walk a few miles home. After asking for the supervisor to call me back, she didn't. I called back later that day, and the supervisor told me that there was no record of my phone discussion and that my insurance reservation had no date information. After calling my insurance that assured me that the supervisor was wrong and that information was provided by them in addition to my phone call to the local office. Enterprise Rental at this location in Front Royal Va is exceptional! They have the best Customer Service I have ever experienced . The Manager was not only professional but she and her staff went out of their way to make me feel welcome. The manager personally drove 15 min to my RV resort to pick me up and within minutes of arriving my vehicle was clean and ready to go. Super efficient folks and the paperwork literally took minutes to complete. Now that's what I call real Customer Service!. Everyone at that location should be commended for the great Customer Service Team Spirit they displayed. What a great experience, they were all smiling and in a great mood. Make sure you bring a DNA and blood sample to rent your car, plus a lock of hair from your first born... for all the hoops necessary to jump through, you'd think they'd share all of that information beforehand, because I don't know anyone that typically walks around with the additional documentation they wanted. Rented an F-250 for a week. The guy that helped me at the counter was polite. The manager with the forearm tattoos was a bit matter-of-fact and not super welcoming but he was knowledgeable none the less. He also was extremely persistent about getting a second phone number and asking questions about my employer. So I basically just played along since he made it seem like a deal breaker. About a year ago we rented from this office and are about to again (having rented from them for years). Besides the outrageous fact that they're closed BOTH Saturday and Sunday, and there's no Enterprise office closer than 25 miles from my home (so yes Enterprise you're expecting me to add 100+ miles to my vacation just to rent from you: picking up 25 mi away then returning 25 mi away), the vehicle we had specifically rented was not available when we came to pick it up. The employee was nonchalant about it, explaining over & over as we waited, "they're just late returning it." ??? Then, possibly worst of all, we were called at around 3pm on Fri (day of our return) to tell us that they were "closing early." Only because we absolutely refused to drive 50+ mi out of our way roundtrip to return a vehicle did they agree we could leave car at office, and if no problems, we wouldn't be charged extra days (big favor!). You get someone who can't pronounce Shenandoah and can't give you a daily rate without you giving a return date. My booking any date depends on the rate. 5 stars on the overall experience. They picked us up within 20minutes of calling to confirm our reservation. We had a car accident- their insurance was paying for everything- so we didn't have to deal with logistics at the end. I was nervous about signing the $100 credit card hold due to the fact that their insurance was paying for everything, but understood the liability that I would be leaving the lot with the car, not them. Went over (quickly) the paperwork and the dings and dents to sign off. Always nervous about this part, unless you take pictures or video as you do the walk thru with the company- I can see where it can come back at you. DECLINED the -$20 a day withdraw from the deposit for dings that I caused- still not sure how that policy works in full. Overall, quick and easy. Staff were nice. I feel the entire car rental experience can be crappy because you aren't there for fun, but this was painless. read more

We were in an Enterprise rental, on our way home from vacation, and had a flat tire. We were told by Enterprise's RoadSide Assist, to drive to this location in Front Royal, and that they would have a replacement vehicle for us. When we arrived, the agent had no idea that we were coming and said no one had informed him. Then he informed us that we would need to pay a detailing fee on the vehicle that we were in, and that he couldn't give us a vehicle anyhow because they don't allow dogs in their vehicles. I pointed out that I am handicapped and she is a service dog. He told me that NO Enterprise allows dogs, period, and that is their NATIONAL policy "it's the same in every location" according to him. In the meantime, we have the donut spare on the vehicle, and the actual flat tire is in the backseat leaning against my child, because there was nowhere else to put the tire. So I asked if we could leave the flat tire with their Enterprise - and was told no, it has to ride on top of my child for the remaining 200+ miles of our trip. The other alternative that was offered was to wait at least four hours to have a place put a real tire on the car, since he wasn't going to give us a different vehicle. We'd already been delayed about 90 minutes at that point, so another four hours (maybe longer) wasn't really acceptable either. And their policy, per their website, does NOT say they can't allow dogs at all, so the agent either lied or was incompetent, or both. Per Enterprise's website: "Pets are allowed in rental vehicles. Customers need to keep pets crated and return their rental car in clean condition and free of pet hair to avoid cleaning/detailing fees. Service animals used by customers with disabilities are allowed in the vehicle without a carrier." I will say that I'll post a separate review for the location I rented from, because as abysmal as the agent was at the Front Royal location, the Enterprise I originally rented from has STELLAR customer service. Front Royal's staff has a lot they need to learn in terms of Enterprise's national policy, the ADA which should have allowed a service dog to be in the car, and customer service in general. read more

The Front Royal Enterprise office is our go to car rental facility. Pleasant and professional staff. Cars, Trucks or Vans are always clean, filled with gasoline and waiting for us on the lot. BUT, what REALLY sold us on the FR Enterprise was when they called about 2 weeks after our latest rental and inquired if we'd left anything behind in the car. 12 year old grandson left a Go-Pro in the car and these folks tracked us down and kept the GoPro in their safe until we picked it up. Tried to rent a compact car for a week today. "John," with whom I spoke was not fluent in English, neither speaking it nor understanding it. It is completely unacceptable to have someone dealing with the public who doesn't speak the language! He quoted a price, which he said included taxes and fees. Rented at the Woodstock location, which is managed by the manager of this location. We've rented twice in the last 6 months. First time they switched vehicles on us - WHILE WE WERE STANDING AT THE COUNTER. Second time, failed to disclose ALL the information regarding rental and pre-authorization debit, which over drew our account. We strongly warn the public against using Enterprise. Our car rental experience with Enterprise of Front Royal, VA was the absolute worst my family has ever encountered and we are very well traveled. The service was deplorable, the office was in disarray, dysfunctional and the boy who served us was lazy and incompetent. We booked our rental via Hotwire months prior to our trip and received confirmation stating twice that "ENTERPRISE ACCEPTS CREDIT CARD AND DEBIT/CHECK CARD DEPOSITS." but when we arrived in Front Royal, Enterprise our Visa Debit Card for deposit was refused. The office personnel were unapologetic, unsympathetic and unconcerned that we were horrifically inconvienanced. They did not help us in ANYWAY to solve our dilemma. Management showed us a fine print statement that their RURAL rental policy differed from urban locations. They offered no solutions other than if we could get a co-signer we could rent the car AT A SUBSTATIAL INCREASE IN COST! This seems like a scam. We called customer service at Enterprise Corporation and they too backed this selective policy and expressed no concern about how contradictory it is. We are writing the Attorney General of Virginia and report this discriminatory practice by Enterprise. Enterprise has a written policy which targets, gouges and discriminates rural communities who have limited resources and forces them to pay higher rates than metropolitan areas in order to rent cars. Very disappointed after my last use a few days ago. I rented a car for 2 days. When I showed up I had rented a small 4 door vehicle nothing fancy. The lady behind the counter asked if I would like to have a truck instead because they had a lot of large vehicles. She never mentioned anything about an extra charge. Usually when I rent from here the people at the place will always offer me an upgrade for free. However she was being sneaky and ended up charging me $2 extra a day. Whatever. Anyway, I used the car for 2 days and asked to extend the rental on the third day. The boy who answered the phone I say boy because he sounds no older then 15 probably, said we can extend the rental but with today being Thursday if we extend it to Saturday like I asked then he'll have to chrage me 3 days since they are closed on Sunday and can't trust that I'll bring the vehicle back like promised after hours. That was a slap in the face since I have been coming to this location faithfully for many many years. In those many many years I have been frequenting this location I have never been told that I will be charged a day that I am not using rhe car for that's freakin ridiculous. Be very careful or you'll be taken advantage of. Only giving 2 stars because the truck I rented and paid more for was clean. read more

We have also rented from here a few times before, the staff are rude and not very nice. My husband had an accident and rented a Ford Explorer in December 2012 from Enterprise at the Front Royal location. When he got into this vehicle and started it up the oil light came on and when he asked Amber about them she told him just to hit ok and it would go off and that it was ok to drive, he clicked on the ok button and the light went off. He drove to work that day but on the way back the vehicle broke down and a tow truck had to be called out for it. It was towed back to the Enterprise location and my husband was then given a second vehicle, a truck which he did not want, but due to a problem with his back he cannot sit in a small vehicle for long periods of time. Enterprise had no other vehicles other than sedans so he drove the truck to work and upon returning to Enterprise the next day rented an s SUV. This SUV had an extremely bad odor to it which smelt like dirty socks but he drove it to work and back then called Enterprise when he got home and told them he was bringing it back in as the stench was terrible and would be returning it to them. When he arrived at the Enterprise location he asked Amber to come out and smell the odor in the car. She stated that she could not smell any odor and that the vehicle was fine as far as she was concerned. Onto the fourth vehicle, another SUV that he returned home in. I was outside when he arrived home and upon approaching the back of the vehicle noticed scratches and red paint transfer on the rear bumper. I asked my husband if he had pointed this out to them he said he had not but would do so and promptly returned and showed Amber the damage which she said she would record on the notes. The next day he attempted to drive to work but had to come back home after about a block as the tire pressure light came on so he suspected it was going to go flat, he did not have time to change it and would not risk putting air in it and then have it go flat at work. My husband took our Jeep to work and we checked we found that there was only 20 PSI in the rear tire. I called Enterprise and told them of the problem, the man I spoke to, who's name I did not get, was very short and told me that I could take it in and get another car. We decided that we would not be going for car number 5 and that he would drive our Jeep to work and that if I needed to go out I would take the rental vehicle and make sure the tire was at 32 PSI like the rest and would put air in the tire if needed. When we returned the vehicle back into Enterprise the male customer service rep came out to inspect the vehicle and pointed out the paint and scratches on the rear bumper, My husband told him that Amber was suppose to write them down and for him to check with her. Amber and another person in the office at Enterprise also told my husband that he had hit something in the Explorer that caused the damage to it. Joshua stated quite clearly that he had not hit anything and I asked them what he was supposed to have hit? They said they didn't know but Enterprise would be in touch with us. We contacted our insurance company after we received a letter in the mail from Enterprise in January and were told that we owed them $6304.83 in damages amongst other things. We eventually got a report that started to list what was wrong with the vehicle but unfortunately there are only 3 lines before it cuts off so we still didn't know what was wrong with it. We also got 4 black and white photos showing the under carriage of the vehicle but we didn't know what we were suppose to be looking at. We were never given an opportunity to get an independent mechanic to inspect the vehicle either on our own or through our insurance company. We advised them that we were not responsible and would not be paying for damages to a vehicle that we did not cause. After a few weeks went by we received another letter advising us that they were still going to hold us accountable and that we owed them $6304.83. We then received another letter in March telling us that if we did not pay them that they would be placing the matter in the hands of the collection agency and that now we owe them $6598.83 Our insurance company looked into the claim and upon their investigation were able to find out that the vehicle had previously been returned to the Enterprise location in Front Royal covered in mud. When the company that was reviewing the vehicle to see what was wrong with it put it up on the hoist they stated that the undercarriage was covered in mud and had to be cleaned before they could access it. It was found that the vehicle had been stuck on something and put into reverse and drive constantly which caused damage to the transmission. After 7 months Enterprise took out insurance company to arbitration where they lost their claim against us and our insurance company. read more

My daughter needed to rent a car. Her Virginia driver's license expired while she was stationed overseas and the DMV gave her a temp until she gets her new one in the mail. Enterprise said that was OK and they would accept the temp VA license. But, when we got there they turned her away saying it was their policy NOT to accept temp licenses. The guy was very rude. We rented a car in January 2012 for 5 weeks while the wife's car was being repaired. Everything went fine and no unexpected charges or issues with either the car or returning it. They are small and usually have only 5-6 vehicles available on most days. read more

Horrific experience. Am shocked. I deal with Winchester Enterprise all the time and never have one ounce of trouble. It has been nonstop from the nasty initial call back from a rude customer svc rep to the unscrupulous charges taken out of my account without my knowledge. Beware!! They say they call..they do not try to reach u. The car i was given did not drive well at all (looking at hubcaps which were marred and majorly scratched we believed something was out of align and drove like such). From the fact that while this was an insurance claim, noone EVER said anything about the gas. So i was charged $18 (half price they said they were gonna make me a deal!!) to fill a gas tank. $18!! It doesnt take $36 to fill my tank and i own a HEMI v8!!! Then to find out i was charged over $140 !! With no knowledge. No call. Nothing!!! Go to Winchester. I will never go here again. The reviews that state the customer service at this Enterprise location is lacking are right-- at least in my experience. In short, the employee I spoke with on the phone was incredibly rude and unhelpful. Here's what happened: apparently Enterprise doesn't accept debit cards as a form of payment unless you live in-state. That's a weird rule, you guys, but okay. They also won't let someone book a car on your behalf... So, my father was going to pay for the rental car since my wife and I don't use credit cards but because he wasn't the driver, they wouldn't allow it. When I called the Enterprise customer service hotline, I was told that indeed this local Virginia branch could work it out with me so that my father could pay for the car and my wife and I could be home for the holidays. But, due to the unwillingness of the staff at this local branch to even try and work with my wife and I, we were stranded in Virginia on our way to Atlanta to be with our families for Christmas.
