They could communicate with the call center to prevent out of state people like myself, from booking a reservation miles away from home only to be turned away due to not having a credit card. They told me at the location that I was too far away to be using my debit card, even though customer service ensured me I was ok and I would not get stuck in West Virginia. If you rent from Enterprise, please take a very detailed video of the entire outside of the car or purchase their insurance. Otherwise, they can claim the car was damaged without showing you the car. When we picked up the car, they had been busy and rushed through getting it off of the lot. Upon returning, I dropped off my car on a Saturday afternoon about an hour after they had closed. The trip had been uneventful, so I thought everything was good. But while at Church on Sunday morning, I received a message saying there was damage done to the car and I would have to pay for repairs. I was shocked and went straight there (about a 5 - 10 minute drive). When I arrived, they said the car had already been lent out, so I could not see the car. They did show me a close-up picture of a scratch on a piece of metal. It was impossible to see what kind of car it was from or where the scratch was on the car. They said it appeared to be the result of a tree branch and could fit a fingernail in part of the scratch. When I asked to see the car, I was told that would not happen. I just had to believe them. The frustrating part was I had no way to solve the issue. Instead, I was charged almost 1500$. Part of the fee was the loss of value of the car as a result of the damage I supposedly did. I had rented from Enterprise before, but now I will attempt to find another rental company. Manager at enterprise confirmed Car rental the 15th of august because of my car going in for repairs. I drove 45 mins to body shop. As I pulled in I received an voice mail from Enterprise saying they did not have any cars. I called them for clarification. Same manager that ensured car would be there says its ok she has already talked to body shop and I can reschedule my repairs I've been waiting 3 weeks for. Now I'm stuck 45 mins from home, no ride because enterprise did not keep their word and provide a car as promise. What makes me mad? Company did not provide car after it was confirmed a week ago. Even then I would not be mad if they had decided to inform me the night before. Atitude of o well by management. Rent else where or at least have a back up causes lord knows your going to need it. I can't say enough good things about the Enterprise Car Rental (Valley Ave location) in Winchester. We've used them on several occasions for road trips when we didn't want to take our own vehicles and have been treated with professionalism and gotten excellent, upgraded vehicles. Today I had to use them after dropping my personal vehicle off for repair and Mark picked me up promptly from the repair shop and was very friendly and courteous. Upon arrival to pick up my rental, Shaheed greeted me with a big smile and was also very friendly and professional. I reserved a full sized sedan online for my wife. Two hours before picking it up I called to confirm they had a full size sedan and was promised that a Toyota Camry would be waiting for me. She arrived and was told no Camry available. We were offered a kia or nissan. Neither of which is close. Not as comfortable and gas mileage stinks. I don't mind when I'm told they can't accommodate me but it is a very poor business practice to bait and switch on customers. The employee dropping off the vehicle stated if I returned it early I would only be charged for the days I had it and would be refunded...well I took it back 3 days early and guess what? Would recommend this Enterprise office without hesitation. I moved from Alexandria to Winchester a little over a year ago, and was in a situation where I was able to transfer some stuff to my new house before the actual moving date. I wanted to lighten the load for the movers, so I looked into renting a cargo van. At a 150 mile round trip, I did some digging to find the best rates, and Enterprise looked like the winner. The whole experience with Enterprise was top-notch. The rates were good, and the representative was really down to earth. He was very thorough, answering all of my questions - explaining what time to get the van back by to minimize my expenses, what Enterprise covered, what was in my court to cover - just really upfront and honest. In fact, my experience here was so good that I planned to come back and use them again for a cargo trip I was gonna make from Virginia to New York (although the trip subsequently fell through, this demonstrates how positive my experience with Enterprise was). And I would've used them more during my move if it hadn't been for the ridiculous rules of the condo in Alexandria I was moving out of (I couldn't park the van overnight because it was 'commercial' - I couldn't even bring it onto the property 'til after 10 AM). Never in ANY of the paperwork I was given did it say "out of state drivers cannot pay with a debit card AT THE TIME OF PICKUP." Went to go get my car that I reserved online, and they told me exactly that. Not to mention the salesman was beyond rude. The facility has pleasant and knowledgeable employees along with a large selection to choose from. Needed a ride from the hotel and they were quick to assist. And then on July 13th, they charged me nearly $700 for an unknown reason, enterprise customer service verified I paid the bill in May but now the Winchester branch refused to answer the phone or call me back. I made a reservation for my sister while her car was in the shop. It was going through a warranty company which Leon (the manager I was told) knew this and was given all the authorization codes to enter and the phone number to the warranty company. The warranty company stated that Enterprise is one of there largest direct bill companies they work with and that they do this process on the regular basis. He claims that he called them but I spoke with the warranty company several times over the duration of the rental and they never got a call. He lied to me on numerous occasions during the duration of the rental which is unprofessional. By the time the rental was returned, he seemed to understand what to do but by then it was too late. Now my sister has to go through the warranty company for reimbursement since Leon could not get his act together and do his job! I myself rent from Enterprise quite often and have never had an issue and this was my sisters first time renting a car and she said she will never go back to Enterprise. I might have to agree with her after this dilemma, well at least from this location! The area manager really needs to get in there and get Leon up to speed with how to do his job! The staff was very friendly and thorough even though they were super busy when I went in to pick up the vehicle. I also liked that they weren't too insistent on pushing their insurance package on me. I thought it was a little odd that they asked for the name of my employer, but no big deal. The vehicle, which had 32,000 miles on it, wasn't bad, but the tires seemed like they may have been ready to be replaced. Overall, not a bad experience and not a bad price for the rental. I reserved with credit card a car from Martinsburg and when I went to pick it up less than an hour later it was already rented out and nothing else at that location. They made me a reservation at Winchester and I made them guarantee it so I had a vehicle type. Went to Winchester and 30 minutes later all they had was a large van. I was given a sales pitch to get all kinds of insurance when this was an accident replacement vehicle. We turned it in said it was just a bad day. Months later we go there to get a driver added onto an Enterprise vehicle and they said they would get it done (tried) and added the info to the contract in the car itself but not in the system. Tried several times by email and phone to get her added on, they had all the information and the driver with the license but after a week, they still have not done it. Too busy and their customer service is seriously lacking with me and the times I have used them. Go with Hertz. Maybe Enterprise will call me back and try to make things right, but it has been a week and no calls or replies to our many professional emails. This is the second worst rental experience experience we have had. The first was with the same place. This is the place of choice for our insurance company. So the first time they got away with being very crappy. This time we just walked out. It is not that important. They would not get my or my insurance company's money. They will tell you they only have the largest of large vehicles, after you have just spoken with them, gotten a ride there because they have refused to pick you up got the confirmation and discuss ed which vehicle. The old bait and switch land you with a Suburban and/or a 15 passenger van and/or a souped up race car that guzzle fuel. Each one that I have seen or had in the past reeked like stale, over filled ashtrays, (multiple) and dryer sheets, which are actually shoved into the vents. While they have SEVERAL right in the back, clean and ready to go. On top of their mistake of incorrect information they were extremely rude in a cocky way like we did not have a choice. At that point we just felt it best to walk out and take our business elsewhere. read more

Very helpful young staff. Always patient, courteous. Cars generally just fine. However, it is a relatively small location, so there may not be many (or any!) choices. Last car I got was an Altima, 32,000 miles and badly in need of tire balancing or new tires. Cars are almost always clean, but the small location has only an outdoor spot to clean them up...so depending on season and weather, sometimes not quite what you get from Enterprise at a big airport. read more

We rented from this location and asked for a Toyota. The salesman steered us to an Elantra they had on the lot. There was apparently a defect with the driver's side door that was not visible, and didn't manifest itself until the car was taken up to highway speed. When we reached our destination we traded in that vehicle at the Enterprise of Augusta, GA, because we were concerned that rain would damage the interior. We are being charged for the damage to the door, which we did not inflict. The defect was something that would have taken a professional mechanic to notice at a walk-around inspection. We have tried contacting people at the Corporate level to discuss this, to get copies of documentation, and they apparently do not return phone calls. It's beginning to sound to us like a "bait and switch" kind of situation and we are very unhappy that we are unable to resolve this. read more

My rental began with checking in with Costco Travel Rental Car. That part worked out smoothly to book my car rental reservation. When I showed up for my car it was a busy time for them. My car got a two grade bump up which made a sweet ride to SC and back from Winchester. My agent was Kiril Yanchev. Great guy. Smooth check in and walk around the car. The Nissan Rogue was trouble free and was useful to have the extra headroom for this extra tall guy. The return was also smooth. NO SURPRISES. Will use them again when the need arises. read more

My sister and I returned a cargo van that she had rented yesterday evening and unfortunately had problems starting it this morning. The very nice woman fro road side assistance told us exactly what to do BUT when we returned the van Patrick was RUDE, RUDE, RUDE! Spoke to us in a very disrespectful manner and told us to "Goggle it", when we tried to explain our concern. I firmly believe customer service should be taught and maintained. I have used Enterprise many times and I made a reservation yesterday and paid for it for a large SUV to fit our families needs and received a phone call from the local office this afternoon saying it was not available and we are supposed to leave very early tomorrow morning. I have called the corporate office and found another one 25 min away and it was almost $200 more and would not give me the current rate at which I paid for at no fault of my own. I am very very upset because we now have to cancel our trip and tell our kids who have been excited all week that we cannot go now. They seem like they really cared less and did not offer an upgrade or discount for another time or anything, just an apology. This should never been processed if they didn't have it or to keep a good rep, they should have been customer orientated and brought the SUV they found 25 miles away to my local office or kept my rate the same for the trouble they have caused my family. This location would not rent me a car so know I have to go to the airport 1 hour away to get a car for a Monday morning trip. today i needed a car rental. i was involved in a deer loss last evening. my insurance company geico set up my claim and provided a rental reservation number with enterprise rental (whom i rent from all the time) i called them at 7:45 am and was told i would be picked up within 45 minutes to an hour. no show for enterprise after 1.5 hrs wait i called them back...unprofessional. .. they told me that they could not rent a car to me....why?...because someone with the same last name has an outstanding claim...really. ..asked them for details. ..they are investigating this...no one from that office has called back yet...we are now 2 hours today past original 7:45 request for rental. ..unprofessional i rent cars all the time with enterprise ...but after today will no longer. ... i do not recommend this enterprise location in winchester va to anyone...unprofessional. .non communication from them. the worst service ever!!!! read more

I am an elite status, but was still given a sub-par vehicle. I tried to switch it out for the car that I reserved, however, they would not have the car until the day after my trip was to start.
