Not only is the facility in a great downtown location (which was not that important to me) but the grounds are well kept, and upon further observation the surrounding neighborhood's yards are also very well kept. Plenty of parking when I arrived. The instructions that were sent via email are very detailed, not one thing was left out. Be aware that there is no live human being to check you in or out...think of it almost like an airbnb because you get a contactless check in with key code for the door. Arrive and Thrive Co is the company out of Cali that manages this property, they are super helpful and responsive via email but when I have tried to call them I haven't been able to reach a human being. James was the main contact who was very helpful during my two stays. He also recommended another property they manage (The Audrey apartments) which I also stayed at for one evening and was stellar overall. There is no food service at the rooms in the Pasfield House other than you can order 24 hours ahead of time via an app. If you are short on time, and don't know your way around, I highly recommend the avocado and toast breakfast. It was super convenient, I was staying two nights in the George and ordered breakfast for my second morning. The housekeeping staff put the box breakfast in my mini fridge the afternoon prior. For $14 it was a good deal, with two pieces of multigrain bread, avocado spread, 2 hard boiled eggs, an orange and juice. They also put out a toaster for me. There are two tiny ice machines on the second floor which comes in handy. The building was very quiet both times I stayed. The rooms especially the bathrooms are nicely kept and the bathrooms have been renovated. I liked the Hive because there was a trundle bed in the living room and a nice sized kitchen, plus a large master bedroom. Plenty of room for two people and very comfortable. Beautifully decorated living rooms and bedrooms, loved the history of the building. I was very pleased with my stays and I would highly recommend this to anyone staying in Springfield. Yes it is a bit more pricey than the standard chain hotels but it is worth it! SO CLEAN.

Instead, go in through the main lobby, where the stairs are wider. We stayed in "the nest". It had a nice balcony, but the door was quite a hassle to open and close. The bed was comfortable, except the middle had a gorge or you could sink into. So if you like the person you're sleeping with it's perfect. There is plenty of parking! This is a refreshing change from roadside motels and crappy Airbnb's. Recommend staying here. It's nice not crowded and quiet. There is a distant train horn that may remind you of when you grew up in the country.

This secluded private campground is located at the end of a one-lane gravel road that leads right to Otter Lake. There are no neighbors nearby and you're entirely surrounded by beautiful midwest forest (mostly walnut and oak trees). We were specifically searching for a place we could bring our 2 dogs and 3 kids and wouldn't have to worry about other campers nearby. This place did not disappoint- as the nearest person was all the way on the other side of the lake. We also wanted a place where we wouldn't need to bring a tent. This site already has a beautiful canvas tent set up. It's built on a wood deck that includes both a front and back porch. Inside the tent there is a queen bed and table and chairs. Both the front and back porch also have seating- and the backporch overlooks the lake. Outside of the tent is a seperate washing station, complete with HEATED running water! There is a kitchen sink, toilet, and shower area. The kitchen area is stocked with all the necessities needed for outdoor cooking and dining. The camp host provides coolers and a lock box as well. They advertise as a place where you "just need to bring food and drinking water". I recommend also bringing a cast iron if you're hoping to cook on the campfire. We came in the fall and the evenings were quite chilly- so I'd also suggest bringing extra bedding. There is a charcoal grill, but we opted to cook in the fire pit throughout our stay. This is by far the nicest fire pit I've found at a campground. There is ample seating and they provide A LOT of free firewood. There is also cooking grates to place in the pit if needed. The pit also overlooks the lake and it was such a relaxing and beautiful place to drink my morning coffee. We came hoping to fish and were happy that we could follow a trail down to the lake from the campsite and set up for fish. Our kiddos were able to catch some bluegill and hybrid fish. They were actively biting and kept our family engaged for a few hours each day. The only thing to keep in mind is that there's no electricity at this site. With that being said, it's absolutely worth the stay. Our kids and dogs absolutely had a blast. My husband and I loved relaxing and living the "lake life" for a weekend. We hope to come back again!

It had been years since I flew directly in and out of SPI until a couple months ago. I booked a…read moreone-way flight less than 24 hours before my departure time and was able to fly American with a connection in Dallas. This was exciting as many many years ago the only options were connections in Chicago and that can always be hit or miss because of weather. There are two terminals and you can tell they've added new chairs that were super comfy. As another reviewer said, the security check made me laugh as I agree they must be so bored all day. I have the new "real ID" and the ladies working the check in spot got some leaflet out to verify my states drivers license and then were discussing it while shining some weird light on it. This airport still offers free parking which is unheard of these days. No need for the cell phone waiting area, you can actually park and walk inside to greet your loved ones as they arrive to SPI. :-)

Fridge makes a really weird high-pitched noise all night. Tv are old and cable went out every 10 min or so. Breakfast is at 6:30. That a little too late for those of us working here from outa town. Should be at 6 like other hotels next door. Didn't spend a lot of time here other that's sleeping. A little movie theater a block away kept me outa room for the most part. We got there about 15 minutes before it was to close and they kept it open at at least 10 minutes after that for us and others that were late getting down there that day. I thought that was a classy move. You don't get one minute past closing time at a Hampton Inn. The staff here was absolutely extraordinary! Everyone, from management to the front desk to housekeeping was incredibly kind and accommodating. We were absolutely impressed and would return again in a heartbeat.
