I recently stayed here for a night. It was pretty clean the staff was nice. It's a bed and breakfast so obviously they provided breakfast, coffee, and juice. It was tasty but it wasn't a lot. This particular breakfast was sausage gravy and biscuits plus eggs and browns. You might be able to ask for more I didn't check. A light breakfast worked for me that day. They also provide cookies at night. Very good. The rooms weren't modern but it's part of the theme. Also the room AC didn't get very cool imo. I thought we were working the remote correctly but maybe not. As it is an older building you can hear the wood squeak. They have wifi, Netflix, and prime video we were told. I did not verify. Overall it was nice and everything was clean. I might stay there again.

Five stars all the way. Loved the ambiance , the staff and the room. Throughly enjoyed my stay and if I am ever back in town this is where I will stay! Loved the jacuzzi tub and the big bed. Morning breakfast was great, scrambled eggs and biscuits and gravy, French toast, bacon and red potatoes. Coffee, tea and juice in the morning. I also ended up in their brew pub downtown by accident and was pleased with the staff, food and service.

Inn at 835 made my short visit to Springfield much much more exciting! If you are not a fan of generic, corporate chain hotels, Inn at 835 would be your thing! We stayed here only for one night, but felt like we should have stayed for another night!! First of all, the historic building itself is attractive. It is beautifully decorated overall, let alone the individual guest rooms. We stayed at the Lily Room, which was just gorgeous. We just love the way the room is decorated, especially with a nice personal and homely touch. (Imaging you are staying at a hotel room that just makes you feel like home!) Second, great hospitality! We checked into the hotel in the late afternoon and was immediately welcomed by the staff. We were promptly brought to our room. Now we are still in the pandemic, so it is a shame that we could only get a continental breakfast prepared in advance and put in the shared fridge. (I have read so many great reviews on how good the breakfast was made by Melissa. :) ) But the continental breakfast we got the next day was still good! We decided what we wanted to have based on the breakfast list when we checked in. We could get as many items as we want from the list, including bagels, scones, macaroons, Danish, muffins, etc. There are also milk, juice, yogurt to choose. We brought our breakfast back to our beautiful room and we still had a great time! :) Last but not the least, the jacuzzi in our room!! Get a room with a jacuzzi to enhance your stay!! If it was not because we were following a strict itinerary, we would like to stay another night and spend more time feeling this beautiful hotel more!! We definitely will come back to Inn 835 next time when we stop by Springfield!!

Our first experience at a B&B! I finally get it! Just being in the atmosphere of an old, but nice, house, dappled sunlight coming in through huge oak trees into third floor windows; creaky stairs; beautiful, lovingly chosen wooden furniture; a claw foot bathtub; the hottest shower with the best water pressure I've ever experienced; other rooms doors open to peek into, just like you're a guest in a friend's or old relative's house... not a smelly old anonymous hotel. As far as service went, it was alright... The checkin was efficient and straightforward; we were told about the restaurants that were open, asked when we'd like breakfast, told the bottled water in the room was included, etc. Breakfast was okay. They made an effort to provide vegetarian foods, but there were hard cubes of ham in the microwaved, store-bought crusted quiche, and the potatoes were fried in bacon grease. We also got juice and tea and raisin toast and could've had coffee. I felt like the house isn't being loved enough anymore, like the staff don't care.. Maybe they need a raise! The entrance was full of dead crickets, and there was a thick layer of dust on the windowsill in the room. The staff all seem to smoke - it was hard to listen when one woman's breath from it was so bad. When we came back from dinner the whole house reeked of weed. (I understand that the other guests were likely responsible, but I felt uncomfortable and worried a bit about fire.) When we stood in the empty entrance wondering if we could just leave the keys in the basket at check out, there was a staff member just around the corner in the little room but she didn't bother to come out and let us know or say goodbye. We'd like to stay again if we get the chance, but Springfield doesn't seem to have much to offer... unless you're an Abe Lincoln freak.

Huge jetted tub. Big enough for two people with room to spare.

This place was outstanding!!! Felt burned out with all the tension going on everywhere and needed to go somewhere peaceful to rejuvenate and this place was definitely the answer! Melissa and her staff were very hospitable and caring. They dropped off warm fresh baked chocolate chip cookies and a little weather report for the next day every evening. No other hotel I've been to ever took care of their guests like this. My room was gorgeous and clean. Took full advantage of the huge jetted tub/whirlpool in my room, which relieved a lot of tension in my back. And breakfast was delicious every single day! So grateful for this place and will definitely come back!!

This hotel has a very unique feel, especially on a weekday. On a Monday night, it wasn't filled with tourists, but instead felt like an extension of the Illinois State Capitol, with people throughout the hotel clearly engaged in business and legislative conversations. It gives the place a distinct working atmosphere that fits perfectly with its location. The hotel has a somewhat old-fashioned feel, which actually works well given the Abraham Lincoln connection and the historic character of Springfield. It doesn't try to be modern or trendy, but instead feels consistent with the setting. The room itself was clean and functional, with a slightly dated but well-maintained feel. The bed was comfortable, and the room included useful features like a mini fridge, a solid coffee setup, and plenty of charging options at both the desk and bedside. There's also a small table with two chairs that works well for either a quick meal or getting some work done. The bathroom was straightforward and clean, with a tub/shower combination and everything in good condition. Nothing fancy, but everything you need. One of the biggest advantages here is convenience. The hotel has on-site dining options, including a dinner restaurant and a breakfast spot. We did not try the breakfast buffet, which was offered at around $20 per person, but it appeared well set up. Parking is handled through a city-run garage attached to the building, and at about $7 for 24 hours, it's a great value. The front desk staff was excellent. Check-in and check-out were both smooth, and they even offer contactless check-in through their app, though we chose the traditional key card route. You do need a key card to access the elevator, which adds a layer of security. And of course, the DoubleTree cookies were flowing, which is always a nice touch. We were also able to leave our luggage at the hotel while we went out to visit several Abraham Lincoln sites around Springfield, which added even more convenience to the stay. Overall, the hotel is clean, well-run, and extremely well located. If you are visiting Springfield, especially for anything related to the State Capitol area, this is a very practical and fitting place to stay. Upon entering the room, I was immediately met with an unpleasant odor. As I started looking around, things only got worse. The bathtub in the bathroom was visibly dirty, the walls throughout the room had stains all over them, and there were crumbs left on the floor that made it obvious the room was not cleaned properly before my arrival. What really shocked me was how neglected certain areas were. Under the bed looked like it had not been cleaned in a very long time, and the area around the AC unit was covered in buildup and dirt to the point where it seemed like nobody had touched it for months. Even the mini fridge was an issue because the door would barely stay closed. For the price paid and the way this hotel presents itself online, this experience was beyond disappointing. I booked this hotel based on the reviews and photos, and I honestly feel misled. We were given a first floor room near the back door, which seemed odd. Mr. Bee has a Hilton Honors account and we typically do higher floor, but they said this was all they had, yet we had a reservation. We settled into our room, and noticed it was quite dated and we expected better. Our room was near the hotel laundry and there were three vents near our room for the dryers. All day and all night, it sounded like a motorcycle revving its engine outside our room. Needless to say, it was restful sleep. Mr. Bee did inquire at the front desk about the noise, and there was no apology, offer to move us, it was simply yes, that is from the hotel laundry. On the mirror outside the bathroom there is a sticker advising that housekeeping will be done every other day. Yet, in our 3 night, 4 day stay we never got housekeeping services. Again, Mr. Bee walked down and asked if we could get some new towels as we hadn't had housekeeping in, and the front desk staff said well they have all gone home for the day, but here are two towels. Seriously??? Again, no apology. Breakfast was your typical Hampton Inn breakfast, it was fine. The eating area is small and the floor was sticky when walking on it. My tennis shoes stuck to the floor. Just not the level of other Hampton Inn Hotels and we have stayed in plenty. Honestly, I think I would skip this and look for something else in Springfield. The room and overall property felt visibly dirty and poorly maintained. I found ants in my room and later observed staff walking around spraying consumer grade bug spray in common areas rather than what appeared to be professional pest management. At no point during a hotel stay should a guest have to worry about bugs crawling into their belongings. What disappointed me even more was the complete lack of follow through afterward. After providing direct feedback during my stay, I was told management would be contacted, points would be added to my account, and that a manager would personally follow up with me. None of those things happened. I understand that no property is perfect, and I generally extend a great deal of grace as someone who travels constantly. However, cleanliness, accountability, and communication matter. This experience fell far below the standard I have come to expect from Hilton.

We stayed on the third floor, which after talking to the front desk, apparently is the older of the rooms, and from our experience they shouldn't even be letting customers stay there. The pool was filthy! Hot, smelly of a lot of toxins, and what looked to be brown streaks around... it looked disgusting that we didn't go in. The room was hot and full of mold. You can tell they tried to patch the mold spots as the wallpaper was 'patched up.' See pictures. Wallpaper bubbling and ceiling damaged like they had a severe leak in the room above. The freight train was so loud all night waking us up multiple times a night. The cleaning crew didn't reset the alarms, so the previous guests alarms went off in the middle of the night - waking up the baby we had with us. And in the dark we could not see how to turn it off but accidently hit the snooze button which had the alarm go off yet again and wake everyone for the rest of the night. Let's just say we didn't sleep... The shower was pathetic!!!! The shower head was maybe $5. My exterior hose at home for gardening let off more of a spray! The drain backed up and wouldn't drain the shower water. There was no hot water. Mold damage and scraped up floors - disgusting! The bathroom mirror was installed crooked and banged up bad! The door looked like someone smashed into it with suitcases. The mold damage was pink and coming through the bubbling walls and ceiling. They actually put wallpaper over wallpaper instead of doing the job properly. The bathroom vent was dusty! The rugs were stained and patched! The remote control to the tv was caked in black dirtiness from fingers. We cleaned it and the rags was disgusting!! The beds were awful! Back pain and neck pain were there the next morning. The bedding looked so dated and the bed curtain at the base looked like an afterthought! the bedding was stained and old. The pillow was smashed in the case and was like a rock! The back electric sliding door to the garage was broken and not opening so you try to open it your fingers and it would start to go then slam close getting your finger stuck. Then try again and it would finally open. The elevators were loud and wobbly. The other elevators were out of order with maintenance. All night you could hear an electrical sound that was concerning. The AC unit when it kicked on was like the fright train going through town. It was so loud we flew out of bed to quickly turn it off! Sounded like yet another electrical problem. In the end we woke up with stuffed up noses from all the mold that night and it cleared up as soon as we left the hotel. We couldn't leave quick enough!! They won't refund your night stay if you book through a third party site, so money wasted!! Do NOT stay here! Spend the extra money and go across the street to the nicer hotel!!

Upon check-in at around 430pm, I inquired if we might stay in the same room type as I had stayed previously (which was a complimentary upgrade as a rewards member). My request was accommodated by the manager. He said I would be charged $10/day for parking. I advised that last year there was no mention of parking charges, and asked why was I being charged this year (the hotel and parking garage were nearly empty). He waived the charge, which was appreciated. As it turned out, there was no parking attendant anyway. I also requested extra pillows, blankets, and a microwave. We unpacked in the room and went to visit family. Upon our return at around 1030pm, we discovered the room temperature was about 65 degrees. The pillows were delivered, but 2 mattress pads were delivered instead of blankets. I went back to the desk and the same manager was still on duty. I explained the situation and he said he could have maintenance look at it, but it would take some time. We were tired after a long day of travel and visiting, and did NOT want to wait for maintenance. I asked if there might be another room available on the same floor we could sleep in (without moving everything), and hopefully move back to the room in the morning. He only had a room on another floor. I asked if they could check to be sure it had heat. He had maintenance check, who said it was functioning. I went back to the room and spoke with the maintenance guy in the hallway who said the heat in the room would not be fixed overnight. I went down and told the manager we were changing rooms, and that it was a hassle to repack and move everything in the middle of the night, especially since my traveling companion had mobility challenges. The manager did not offer any assistance in the move whatsoever. I asked if I could get some credit for the inconvenience (I prepaid), and he said he had given me a room upgrade and parking already and instead, offered 2 coupons for COFFEE. I went up and moved everything (including the microwave) myself. By the time we got in bed it was well after midnight. The next day (Thanksgiving Day) we left around 11am and returned around 10pm. The room was cool (although not as cold as the other room) when we returned. I was not going to go through this all over again. We covered up with the mattress pads and turned the heat all the way up. I decided to let the desk know in the morning. When we left Friday I and asked if the heat in the new room could be fixed while we were gone. They said it would be taken care of. When we returned mid-evening, the room was minimally warmer, but by morning (check out date) it was 67 degrees. Upon check out, I explained all that had happened, and the desk attendant on duty was very apologetic. I asked if I could get some credit for the multiple inconveniences, and she said because it was prepaid, I could not. I asked if it was possible to get some Wyndham Rewards points instead. She said she would speak with the rewards manager on Monday and call me and let me know. I asked if we could get coupons for food instead of just coffee and she accommodated me ( she was very helpful and sympathetic). Mind you, there was no restaurant open in the hotel at all (which was an inconvenience in itself); only a Starbucks. We left with a very bad feeling from the whole experience, ruining what was supposed to be an enjoyable holiday visit, and vowed we would NEVER stay there again. There was no call on Monday. By Thursday, I decided to call and check the status of receiving Wyndham Rewards points. The same desk attendant answered and when I asked why she had not called, she said she spoken to her manager (the person we dealt with the 1st night) and he told her NOT to do anything for me (not even a courtesy call back?), and the he was not doing anything else for me. I asked if she spoke with the rewards manager, and she said she did not per his instruction. I felt bad for her, because she wanted to do the right thing but could not. I submitted a complaint on Wyndham's website, especially noting the lack of customer service by the manager, hoping corporate would step in. It turns out the complaints are sent directly to the hotel, and the same manager responded to the complaint. There appears to be no corporate oversight when submitting feedback about specific hotel stays. I even called the corporate office and they said only the property could respond. Being a seasoned traveler (business and leisure) and formerly in both customer service and service management in travel and other service industries, this low level of customer service at a hotel management level is surprising to me! The upgrade was PRIOR to any of the breakdowns; and is standard practice (upon availability) for all levels of loyalty at the other hotel brands I frequent. Even a goodwill gesture of a night's

My first room had neither, so keep that in mind if you're traveling with leftovers or snacks. The AC in the suite seemed better at first, but the room had a weird smell and by the middle of the night, it was back to being too warm no matter how low I set it. But all in all we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

FANTASTIC STAY. Javier, Miranda and crew made our stay very comfortable. Unbelievably clean,…read moreaffordable, full breakfast and dinner included! The "Kickback" 5:30p-7p food and three drinks are awesome. The second night was a Friday and had the best dinner food. Mexican theme with tortillas, beans, Mexican style corn, chicken, nacho cheese and chips. Salad. Hot dogs. Soup. The breakfast is just as impressive with fresh eggs, breakfast potatoes, toast, bagels, cereal, oatmeal, juices, coffee, Tea, fruit. Everything you can imagine. Staff constantly refilling and cleaning the areas. The rooms are impeccably clean and comfortable. The entire place is sparkling clean. I've never been to a hotel that has such generous food and drinks. We were only going to stay one night but after our arrival and the first Kickback night, I booked a second night through Javier. He was so friendly and enthusiastic just like the rest of the staff. He says the owners take good care of their staff and it shows in the attitudes. The housekeeping staff are paid well $20 an hour. The pool area is clean and comfortable. There is a little amenities shop you can buy toiletries, snacks, beer, wine etc. The Kickback lounge is like a little bar, very chill, a good selection of beer, wine, soft drinks and cocktails. The rooms again are very clean (MOST important). Newly upgraded facilities. Trust me I will inspect the heck out of a hotel room for cleanliness before I bring my bags in. Amazing. Room prices are very reasonable. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

The lovely, kind manager (Wintermere) immediately came to our room and gave us a free night in the future and said that unfortunately they were sold out but offered to help us book somewhere else. We tried turning on the air and it helped a little bit but I still had a headache. The girl running the breakfast (Shelby?) did a great job and went above and beyond to help my kids.

Charming historical place. Nice quarters. Pro tip: don't use the guest overnight only entrance…read morebecause the stairs are too skinny to carry up your luggage. Instead, go in through the main lobby, where the stairs are wider. We stayed in "the nest". It had a nice balcony, but the door was quite a hassle to open and close. The bed was comfortable, except the middle had a gorge or you could sink into. So if you like the person you're sleeping with it's perfect. There is plenty of parking! This is a refreshing change from roadside motels and crappy Airbnb's. Recommend staying here. It's nice not crowded and quiet. There is a distant train horn that may remind you of when you grew up in the country.

Not only is the facility in a great downtown location (which was not that important to me) but the grounds are well kept, and upon further observation the surrounding neighborhood's yards are also very well kept. Plenty of parking when I arrived. The instructions that were sent via email are very detailed, not one thing was left out. Be aware that there is no live human being to check you in or out...think of it almost like an airbnb because you get a contactless check in with key code for the door. Arrive and Thrive Co is the company out of Cali that manages this property, they are super helpful and responsive via email but when I have tried to call them I haven't been able to reach a human being. James was the main contact who was very helpful during my two stays. He also recommended another property they manage (The Audrey apartments) which I also stayed at for one evening and was stellar overall. There is no food service at the rooms in the Pasfield House other than you can order 24 hours ahead of time via an app. If you are short on time, and don't know your way around, I highly recommend the avocado and toast breakfast. It was super convenient, I was staying two nights in the George and ordered breakfast for my second morning. The housekeeping staff put the box breakfast in my mini fridge the afternoon prior. For $14 it was a good deal, with two pieces of multigrain bread, avocado spread, 2 hard boiled eggs, an orange and juice. They also put out a toaster for me. There are two tiny ice machines on the second floor which comes in handy. The building was very quiet both times I stayed. The rooms especially the bathrooms are nicely kept and the bathrooms have been renovated. I liked the Hive because there was a trundle bed in the living room and a nice sized kitchen, plus a large master bedroom. Plenty of room for two people and very comfortable. Beautifully decorated living rooms and bedrooms, loved the history of the building. I was very pleased with my stays and I would highly recommend this to anyone staying in Springfield. Yes it is a bit more pricey than the standard chain hotels but it is worth it! SO CLEAN.
