Today was the second time I've had to use Enterprise here, it's been years but the same gentleman (Kai) helped me that was there years ago. It was excellent customer service last time as well as this time! I got a rental car online literally last minute notice right before a holiday. The car that I got is great and they had multiple choices. I did need to modify the rental as I didn't end up needing it two days, the app was really easy to use. I also got a text from them so that I can directly message with any questions. Both times it was quick, kind and efficient service. Would I recommend??? Not only NO....but HELL NO! Enterprise needs to improve on a corporate level. Jo Needed another car as I needed to go home to deal with an emergency. Called THE ONLY RENTAL COMPANY AROUND..... Apparently there is a "call center" situation where there is no communication between them and the local branch. We called, reserved the car, drove there, and was met by what appeared to me as being the most miserable person on the planet. I could have a better conversation with a wet sock. Don't rent here they don't care about you as a human they just want your money. Asked for and provided open communication and the manager completely ignored me. Young lady was really good with customer service and had everything ready as promised Because this is an edit of my first review, I will combine the two. So 5 out of 5 for this most recent experience one out of five for my previous experience which means at this point 3 out of 5 is what I feel is a valid recommendation The following is the original review : Very disappointed in this location. Made a reservation checked in got dropped off and then the person comes out of the office and says oh we called you. We don't have a car. No offer to assist in finding a vehicle no offer to assist in fixing this reservation This used to be a really good Office for Enterprise with excellent customer service Something like this happened in December as well and I let it go but this is ridiculous. If you are renting from this location you better make sure that you call the location because no matter what even if you're able to Check in, they will let you come to The office and then state that they called you but I showed the manager Zach that there were no calls made to my phone according to my phone log. There were no voicemails left on my phone. For a company that toutes itself on customer service, this location has really been a disappointment. Very poorly operated Enterprise. I was contacted to set up a pick-up to bring me to Enterprise in KDH while my vehicle was being repaired. Enterprise never showed up. When I called the branch I was told that they do not do pick-ups on Saturdays. I explained that Enterprise called me and set up the time and day. I was told this branch "operates differently." I had to set a new date to again drive 50 miles to drop my car off and then they didn't even give me a full tank of gas. This is a poorly run franchise that needs some competition. read more

Really professional staff here. Gave me a really great rate on a jeep rental for driving on the dunes and the car was in top condition and everybody I dealt with was incredibly professional during pick up and drop off. We rented a Jeep specifically to spend time on the 4x4 beach, and had purchased the beach pass to coincide with time of Jeep rental. Kayla was less than helpful and honestly didn't seem to care at all that she had "made a mistake and misread the date of our rental". After hanging in for 2 days believing that Kayla would call when a Jeep was available (as she said), we gave up. Rented from a local company (not Enterprise) and had no problems. Made the reservation but NO VEHICLE! I got the phone call the night before to confirm I would be there at 9 am to pick up my rental. Meanwhile that evening at dinner my local friend says "oh are you sure they have cars? They are notorious for taking reservations but NOT having the car to fill reservations ! So glad we found this place! Hubby and I were attending an evening wedding on Carova Beach. We decided the night before to rent a jeep for the night. We reserved a jeep to be picked up at 1pm and we got there, it was cleaned and ready to go. The man that helped us was very helpful and kind. The whole process took less than 15 minutes. The morning of, my family was all ready to go since we had rescheduled our whole trip around this day rental, they called to say that they had no Jeep's left for us. Zero stars...Having been a member of Enterprise plus for years renting many cars, I didn't hesitate to use this agency for our camping trip to Outer Banks. We took a $125 uber ride from Waves where our campsite was to pick up the car in Kill Devils. The class car we thought we reserved was not available and we asked for an upgrade. We were offered an EV which at first we thought was ok but immediately realized we probably had nowhere to charge the car in a campsite. My husband said cant we get an upgrade and kiddingly added" I dont want to pay for one". The girl responded "Well in that case Im not giving you any car". We truly thought she was joking but soon realized she was not. She let my husband, a 70 yr old diabetic with hypertension and heart disease stand outside in 90 degree heat without so much as a bottle of water for almost 3 hrs waiting for someone from customer service/corporate to call him back. I called and pleaded with them, apologized profusely for any misunderstanding and was hung up on. . I called again 2 hrs later again begging since I was at campsite with 1 yr old grandson with no food since we needed car to get to a store. I was told under no circumstaces would we be given one and again hung up on. We have requested the audio/video tapes be pulled. Corporate has told us my husband wasn't disorderly...so then what is the company policy on refusing someone a rental? They are saying we left without renting since we werent satisfied with the options we were given. Lie! We are not done dealing with them and will consult legal advice when we get home. Classic case of age discrimination. Do not deal with this office. Shame on Enterprise for not making this right for a loyal customer. read more

I have never in my life met such a hateful and disrespectful person. The " supervisor " at this location was so disrespectful. I was trying to rent a car to get back home, nobody told me on the phone when I made the reservation that I needed a credit card. I do understand policy, I wasn't aware of it. He didn't have to be so rude. I didn't have a credit card nor did I have somebody here that had a credit card. I told him " I had two children and I had to get home" He proceeded to respond with " that's not my problem" Which no, it isn't his problem but he could show some respect. It was there and we got what what we wanted. We stopped by the day prior to ensure the right car was there. Shown what we had reserved. It was nasty, like been drived in mud. Went to get it this morning. Still nasty, muddy, not vacuumed, trash in it. I had to Windex the windows and mirrors just to see out of them. No excuse for this. They have a car wash area there and a car wash next door. There was an employee there cleaning cars yesterday. When you're the only game in town I guess this is acceptable? Nope. It isn't acceptable. NOTE: Call before you pick up your car and make sure you hit Option 4 to speak with the local office. This is the only enterprise location on the outer banks. The managers and staff there make it work. It's one scrappy office. The staff does everything - including cleaning cars. They're very hard working. They get cars from the airport in VA Beach and don't always know what they'll have. You might not get the car you thought you would (usually you'll get a free upgrade) but you'll get a working car in good shape. I've been renting from them for the past seven years they've been very accommodating if my schedule changes, which it usually does. read more

The staff here at our OBX Enterprise location are absolutely terrific! My car was totaled by an agressive 19 year old driver, and when State Farm finally took responsibility for the liability, I was able to get a rental car. Chris went above and beyond to make sure I had a comfortable SUV similiar to my totaled car. When the Sahara jeep was too large for me, within hours he called me and gave me 2 choices & I went back and exchanged it for a RAV 4. When State Farm cheated me on the days of the rental (not even giving me a rental up to the time when my auto loan was paid off) I was extended the same rate. All the staff, including Kye were very prompt and courteous with any questions I had. In a very stressful situation, their professionalism was a bright and shining star!! We are lucky to have such wonderful people at this Enterprise location. read more

Great service. They dropped the car at the local airport (Dare County) for us. The car was clean and well serviced. Good communication and good prices. Only gripe was the car was only half full of gas. Small thing but thought I'd note it. Note: they only deliver cars to the airport on Friday (we arrived on Sunday) so plan in advance. Local use only, you can't return to another location. So if you are planning to arrive on Saturday or Sunday to the airport, call ahead after making the reservation and explain the situation, they will adjust the reservation and deliver the car for you - great service. read more

The keys to my rental were locked in the trunk. When speaking with Roadside Assistance, they told me if the locksmith could not open the trunk to have the car towed to the KDH location. The locksmith couldn't get it open. I called KDH to let them know the car was on it's way. The lady said I'd have to call a different locksmith because they couldn't help me. I called the one she said to use and before they could call me back, she closed and left stranding me and my young son. The locksmith returned my call to say they wouldn't be there until the next morning. So I had to contact relatives that lived over an hour away to come and get us. I spoke with Enterprise customer service that night and asked that a note be put on my rental that the locksmith would be there the next morning. They were very nice and said IF the locksmith couldn't get it open they would give me a different car. Next morning I receive a call from the Enterprise in Apex, NC to ask if I was ok and to tell me the car was being towed to VA (2 hours away.) Thankfully she could stop the tow. I went to the KDH location and all the lady (from the night before) would say when I asked why she didn't call me first since she knew what was going on and I had done EXACTLY what she and Enterprise roadside assistance said to do was "You abandoned the car and my manager said to tow it. It wasn't my job to call you." DO NOT RENT FROM HERE and do not bother to go there if you have a problem! They have the WORST customer service! read more

If you think you have a true reservation, think again! I had placed an online "reservation" well over a month in advance. I had double checked to make sure my credit card was on file and up to date. I went to the office to pick-up my car on the scheduled day, about an hour and a half past the time I had put in online as the pick- up time. At any other Enterprise or rental car office the pick-up time just means pick-up after that time. I waited patiently for about twenty minutes while other guests were helped. When it was my turn I was told that my reserved car had been given away because I was not there within 30 minutes of my pick-up time. Oh, and they have no more cars, so I'm just out of luck. I asked where that 30 minute policy was stated in writing, and she wouldn't answer. It was not in anything or anywhere in truth. I asked if she tried to call me before giving my long-standing reserved car away and she said she was too busy as she was there by herself. I would think someone with no reservation could wait three minutes while it is confirmed in a quick call that the person with the reservation is not coming. I would guess they charged the no reservation person a higher rate, so this strategy works to Enterprise's advantage. Instead of offering to help me in any way she walked away and started helping someone else. Not even an apology or any concern. They are the only national car rental company on the Outer Banks, so they bank on name recognition and throw customer service out the window. There are two local car rental agencies (other than Jeep for a day or two type-places which didn't meet my need), and I have rented from both. Island Jeep and Car Rentals in Kill Devil Hiils and B&R Rent-A-Car in Manteo. Both have fantastic customer service and are reasonably priced. Neither were surprised by my situation, as they both get lots of business from Enterprise when they leave people without cars they reserved. Take your business to the local places - they will take care of you! Run far away from this Enterprise - they are awful and certainly don't care about customers! I will never make the mistake of trying to use this Enterprise ever again! I've been coming to the OBX for over 35 years and this Enterprise is a disgrace and a bad impression for first time visitors. If you are new to the Outer Banks this location in no way reflects this wonderful place with great businesses and hard working people. read more

This location has horrible customer service. I've rented with enterprise for about 3yrs now and never had this issue. They lied to me about getting a manger and his name. I was told his name was Larry and the manger there is Chris. I had an issue with my rental and called corporate to fix my issue. Corporate then fixed my issue and had to relay the message to this branch. That's when they told corporate they will not go against there policy. A policy that can be overridden by the supervisor or area manager. Keith was the area manager that corporate spoke to and told them they will not go against it. All while Keith took my phone call. The people here suck and they can care less for their customers. I never got a no from the manager that is why I kept calling. So much for southern hospitality. read more

Am I being Punked? After reserving a vehicle online, Enterprise refused to rent to us because we had an out of state drivers license and do not have a major credit card. Yes, we are visiting from out-of-state, and we need to rent a car while we are here...it's actually one of the most common reasons people rent vehicles--because they are traveling and need to get around while they are in the area. That's why there are so many car rental places at airports. And so the driver(s) will likely have an out-of-state license. We were a military family for many years and rented vehicles while visiting different states. We used an out-of-state license to rent them-usually at the airport, and we always used our Visa debit card, as we don't use credit cards. We have actual money in the bank to rent a car and Enterprise doesn't want it. Enterprise doesn't want your money, folks! Wasted our very valuable time as we drive an hour just to get here. Customer UNservice couldn't care less. His reply, "I'd make other arrangements." Yeh no shit. Terrible business. read more

Terrible customer service on 2 separate rental occasions. First occasion I rented a car because mine was in the shop. Manager called on Monday and offered a small pick up truck which would not work for my family. She said that was the only vehicle they had available at the time so I asked if I could wait until later in the week to pick up a different vehicle. Manager assured me they would have other vehicles on Friday. I arrive Friday to pick up my vehicle and she offers me the exact same small pick up truck she tried to give me on Monday. I reminded her of our phone conversation on Monday and she told me there was nothing she could do. Also, would not give me her name or any other manager's name to resolve the issue. Rented again in December against my better judgement, but they are the only rental car place within an hour's driving time. Picked up the vehicle and it was disgusting inside. All the seats were stained and filthy. The floor was covered in sand, dirt and something white and there was a dirty, used mask stuck up in the heat/ ac vent. I showed the manager the issues and she ignored everything and told me the vehicle was cleaned and sanitized and offered no other option. When I pointed out the dirty mask she pulled it out of the vent and the vent fell out with the mask. She stuck the vent back in and again offered no help to fix the situation. My family was leaving that day for vacation so we had no other option. I had to spray the entire inside of the vehicle down with lysol and cover all the seats with sheets from my home just so we could sit on them. On the trip we realized the back door would not shut or lock and the backs of the seats were filled with old, sticky candy wrappers and trash! When I returned the vehicle using the drop box my insurance company called me a week later to inform me they had filed a claim against me for damages to the roof of the vehicle which we absolutely did not do. This was a 15 passenger Ford van and I did not even think to ask for a ladder to check out the roof upon renting it. Lesson learned here and shared for anyone who rents a vehicle from this location to have the manager get out a ladder and check the top of any tall vehicle for damage before taking it off the lot. I tried again to call and speak with a manager and asked for the managers name and was told they were not allowed to give that information out! What kind of business is this?
