Whatever you do, do not use this dealer for any service other than oil changes and warranty related work. The prices for labor are extremely high, higher than any local service center. And when it comes to the parts prices, count on spending five to ten times the price you will pay at Autozone or other parts retailers. No, that is not some Chinese knockoff part, that is for name brand, often Mopar, parts. There dealer's reply? "I don't set the prices." Find a local, community owned service center. My truck had to be towed there and I paid $1497.00 for electrical problems caused by water leaking through 3rd brake light. Seems to be a known problem as it happened to both of our trucks. (2020 & 2022) but was charged $420.00 (2 hours) for diagnostics. Was still having problems with it & it had to be towed back. I then was told needed a battery & it would be $511. After paying by credit card I noticed I had been charged $858.00 for the battery. They said I "should have known diagnostics was $210.00." Still doesnt add up to $858.00 They won't take any responsibility for the error. read more

They charged me for the time they spent looking at everything I didn't ask them to. Their hourly rate is $210 an hour plus all kinds of fake fee. I took my 2005 Jeep Wrangler in for multiple services and a state inspection. After completing all the services the running issue had not been resolved and the worst part was that they entered the wrong millage into the inspection. I called the service department multiple times and they said they didn't know how to fix this issue. I even called the DMV and they told me how they could fix the issue and i passed this info along to them but they never did anything about it. Now when i go to get an inspection next year the millage will me lower than the year before and there is a high likelihood that this will flag on a Carfax report that the odometer has been altered. Again i have tried multiple attempts to get this rectified. I most defiantly will not be using Jeep again for service. read more

We came here to rent a Jeep for the day while in the Outer Banks so that we could see the wild horses in Corolla. When we came several months ago, there was still a state wide mask mandate. Not a single employee had a mask on inside. The Jeep we got had some issues while we were driving too. Could be a wonderful place, but they're hindered by staff who do not care about their customers and would rather cheat and lie to make a sale or to postpone working on your vehicle. Maintenance could care less about you. This is the type of place that inspired movies like "Used Cars" directed by Robert Zemeckis staring Kurt Russel. I was lied to from the day I purchased the vehicle all the way through my regular maintenance visits. It's 2020 and there's way too many great dealers who will fight hard for your business to settle for below mediocrity. Great car buying experience. We bought a truck. The prices were already below Blue Book so when I tried to deal they wouldn't really budge but I understand due to the fact the price was already 4K lower but you can't blame a guy for trying!! Our salesman was a really great guy, took care of us with a great attitude from the moment we walked on the lot. I already had financing lined up so I can't really remark about that but everything else was great. I test drove about 4 different vehicles in my price range and settled on a 2021 Chevy Silverado. I have now been driving it for almost 3 weeks and it's a great vehicle, the truck has been treated extremely well and it shows. Once we made our decision they immediately had the vehicle detailed and touched up while we finished up the paperwork and today my License Plate is in!! If you're looking for a quality used vehicle in the Outer Banks I highly recommend this place, it was definitely one of the best experiences I've ever had when purchasing a used vehicle and I'll be back in the future!! read more

Fair pricing (I did shop around) fair trade in, excellent service. I know I should expect that with the substantive cost of the truckof the truck, but much better than other Ram dealers I visited. Had a problem with an accessory. The wrong one was ordered and delivered with the truck. I tried to use it for the first time 2 months later, discovered the problrm and went back . After towing my Jeep behind my motorhome for 6 hours, we found the battery dead. After a jump start, I contacted this dealership and was told to bring the Jeep in and they would take a look at it. We received a loaner car and 3 hours later they called to tell us the Jeep was done and ready. After 1 recall and 2 other updates, the solution was fixed. Tom, the Service Manager was the kindest best customer service we have ever received at any dealership. I highly recommend this service department. read more

The new owners have made a huge difference, in both the sales and service department in just a few weeks. They basically cleaned house. New service tech's and a friendly sales staff. I've used them for service recently with all of my expectations met. Decided to get a new Jeep and I got a good deal on the exact Wrangler my wife wanted without having to travel to VA. For as long as I can remember, folks have avoided this place like the plague. It's probably because of the previous owner. Shady rental agencies use shady terms in their contracts to extort money from rental mishaps. If you are checking this to decide whether to rent a jeep from here to take to the beach DON'T. You will sign a contract with a clause that says that if there is any sort of accident you will pay the daily rental fee for everyday this car is out of service. $213 per day. You may or may not choose to pay for the $18 waiver to limit this to $1000 dollars. You will want to go to the beach. You will sign it. DON'T You may enjoy the beach. You may not have an accident. You may even enjoy your time talking to Sean. He is friendly, he didn't write the contract. Junior did. You likely won't talk to him. He won't help you but he will take your money. If you DO have an accident. You will remember that clause you signed about lost revenue. You will hope that the insurance company will cover part of this. They will only consider this if the dealership will prove they are loosing revenue. You will ask for justification that they are losing revenue. Junior will never provide this. Why? He doesn't lose revenue. He is a car dealership. He has a lot of Jeeps to rent. This clause is a simple mechanism to make pure profit from anyone that has a mishap on the beach. If he were loosing revenue he still wouldn't provide it because he doesn't have to in the contract and he has no interest in helping others needs when he is not on the hook for anything. Contractually, that "cost" or "lost revenue" is solely on you. Simply do not sign the contract and walk away. If you do feel obliged to sign it. Fight to the death BEFORE you sign it to add a clause that if there is an accident, the rental company will only charge the "Lost Revenue" fee for days that they can verify that they are loosing revenue. This in my mind is fair as that is a sunk cost for them. That puts it on them to provide that documentation which would help the insurance company cover that cost. I don't know if they will honor it but at least it would be written into the contract which you would have a copy of so you could argue that with the insurance company or in court and have some legal standing. With out it you would not. Simple, do not sign the contract or rent from this company. Complicated, bargain for the contract to be adjusted as described above. NEVER, sign the contract as it is written now. I paid them 20 days worth of the daily rental rate to rent a car for one day because the insurance company took 20 days to settle an accident with the dealership and the dealership happily billed me for every day along with the insurance deductible. Sometimes you can't be mad when you get screwed because they did it legally. I will just never sign a contract that will give them that right again and I hope you do not as well. read more

Couldn't pump gas in our car and the "30 year Tech" thought he fixed the problem and didn't check if it would take gas. Half of the work was done and end result was still not being able to pump gas. I would not recommend this dealership to anyone, unless you cannot get service for a jeep anywhere else. We had a freak incident with the floor mat getting stuck under the accelerator and of course they kept it from Friday until Monday and never heard back from them on Friday as promised. They said they did a complete check but when hubby went back by there today- Tuesday- to ask for an inspection to be entered into the system they have to check again! We paid them $133 to find out the mat was stuck there! We are locals and IF we can get it to E City or Chesapeake we will. We have AAA premium and they will tow us 200 miles so good-buy OBX Jeep from now on! The dealership has been sold and the new manager Joe was asked to call me last week- have NEVER heard from him. WARNING!!! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE, HERE'S OUR STORY: Went on vacation in the OBX in Avon when our Jeep Cherokee went into anti-theft mode leaving us stranded in Avon. We called this dealership in Kitty Hawk and I spoke to Richard. I asked Richard if they could reset the Anti-Theft which was clearly engaged which was indicated on the dash console. This was Wednesday and we were scheduled to leave Saturday. Richard said no problem just bring it in by at least mid-day Friday. I called OBX towing (who is awesome) and they towed it to the dealership Thursday morning. I called the dealership Thursday noon and Evening and then Friday, morning, noon and 2 hours prior to their closing to see if the reset was going to be possible prior to us needing to leave Saturday. I was told they were going to get it in the shop now and call me back. When they called back at 4pm, one hour before closing. They (Melinda?), told me that the tech said it needed a "skim module" over $500 dollars and if that didn't work, that it would need an "ECM" over $1700 dollars. I repeated that I only needed the Anti-Theft reset and that for this 2000 year jeep, and it would make no sense to spend that much money on it and at this point so I would sell it to the local tow agency or have it towed home and have a qualified lock smith reset it if they could not do the reset. She then said I would need to pay there "diagnostic fee" before the tow agency could tow it off or, just "SIGN THE TITLE OVER TO US" to avoid storage fees. I told her I would set it on fire in my back-yard before I signed over my title to them and that I would make arrangements to pay the fee Saturday. In the just rented Enterprise car, I went straight to the dealership Saturday to pay the fee so they would take it out of lock up for the tow driver to pick up. After paying the fee, two gentlemen pushed it out of the garage. Then, in a last ditch effort, I tried a reset procedure that was recommended by the Internet that said to take the key-less remote and lock then unlock the vehicle 3 times and it would reset the anti-theft system. Skeptical I tried it and low and behold it worked. I drove it straight to the place I was staying and called Enterprise (Ms. Paige) who was very understanding said just bring the rental car back and drop off the key in the drop box and they would refund it Monday when they re-opened. Long story short, I drove the jeep back home Monday 286 miles with no problems. Prior to leaving the beach, I told my wife that we will stop by the dealership to ask for a refund for the fee and I did, but Richard was standing by his diagnosis that it needs a new skim module OR ECM or that the problem would come back. I said that may be the case but that is not what I asked for or what he said they would do when we first talked, but a refund was not issued. My review is on their service department. I can't say enough good about them. Was there recently on a trip with my mom in her 2013 van. The check engine light came on and thought it was just the gas cap...again. Took it in without an appointment and was told that they could work us in. After a little while, the service manager came out with bad news. He needed to keep it until the next day. He arranged a rental for us. It took a little longer than he thought but what matters is that they got the work done. The next day, had another incident with the low tire pressure light. I checked the tires and found one was down to 30 psi and then saw a screw in it that must have run over at the motel who was doing some remodeling. Needed to get this fixed since we were leaving early the next morning. By happenstance, the dealership called to check on us to make sure everything was fine. When I mentioned the tire, she put me right through to service who told me to bring it right in. Got there and the head mechanic met us immediately in the parking lot and I showed him the screw and he got it in right away. They fixed the tire immediately and received a shock when I asked the cost and was told there was no charge! I have to say THANK YOU to everyone! read more

Deciding to go to the dealership while on vacation was a terrible mistake. The general manager was a joke, claiming he didn't know what went on in his service department, tried not to go back there even to use the restroom and had no power to make decisions concerning service. If I could give less than one star, I would. You do NOT want to have any service done here. They do not disclose the price up front for all charges, tried to charge me over $300 for a part covered under my warranty (which another dealership in the area told me costs a little over $100 (WITHOUT even using a warranty)). We later brought in another vehicle because the rear video screen was broken on the entertainment system (VES), the dealership never called back, stating they thought I would call them, closed. The next day they stated they would have a solution, only to call me and tell me I had to pay $50 to get the car back and they did not know why it wasn't working. But if I wished to pay another $50 they would look into it some more. I stated I would not pay them $50 to tell me simply "it's broken", I know its broken, that's why I brought it in. They said I couldn't have the car back unless I paid them $50. I said I wanted to talk to the service manager. They stated they would contact him and have him call me. They then closed again with no call back leaving me without my car for another 2 days (through the weekend). On Monday I finally called back because they still had not contacted me by 10 and they said the service manager still was not available. I was now without my car for 4 days (which was working fine before I brought it in, other than the video screen for the kids being broken). I went to get my car stating I couldn't be without it any longer, I had to leave them with a credit card number and now told I had to pay over $100, because they told me my brake pads were low and needed replacing soon. Seriously? They said I could avoid paying the $50 for telling me my brake pads needed replacing if I paid them another $400 to replace my pads. I told them when I dropped it off myself that they were low because it just started squeaking and wanted confirmation and to know how much it would cost to do it. I was also told they would flush my radiator, replace my air filter, and a few other minor 'tune-up's' but that would then cost me over $1,000. You have got to be kidding me!! I purchased the parts to do the work myself, other than the brake pads, and their quote of over $600 of work for that, cost me under $20 and less than an hour of work. The $400 brake pad replacement I am taking to another dealership where it will cost me under $200 for everything. You can do it yourself for about $100 in parts, but my time right now is limited so I opted the convenience of having it done. $200 vs $400 and a lot of dishonesty and poor business practices. Decide for yourself. I will never go to this dealership again, for anything. I will drive the 3 hours round trip to go to Elizabeth City if I need OEM work done before I ever go here again. There are other dealerships in the area that can work on your car, even though they are not a Dodge dealership. Go there to find a better price and service. Follow-up Disputed the charge with American Express to which we just received a reply for the dispute. The Dealership BLATANTLY lied in their response to american express saying we refused to pay them after they told us the repair was not covered under the warranty, This Was NOT at all what happened, they never even told us what was wrong saying they had no clue, and they doubled our fee because we picked it up on Monday vs. Sat (because we were waiting for a call from the service manager who never called and then closed leaving us with no car over the weekend). They went on and lied about other statements and American Express told us unless we could provide documentation stating otherwise from the dealership, they had to accept the charge. No fault to american express, however DO NOT do business here!!! I cannot stress that enough. They do not provide quality service and the fact that they follow it up with lying about it, you be the judge. read more

Complete waste of money!!!!!! I took my 2008 Rubicon to the OBX Jeep dealership for service. I clearly explained the problem to them, which was the TPMS sensors in the 2015 Rubicon wheels were not syncing up with my 2008 Rubicon. They said, no problem! They told me that they could reprogram them to sync up with my Jeep, that it would take under an hour, that they would do it that day, call me when it was done, and that it would be $49 for the service. So I left the Jeep with them on Wednesday morning at 8:30 feeling good about getting rid of the annoying TPMS alarm that sounds every time I start the vehicle. So I started to get a bad feeling around 2pm when I didn't receive a phone call. I figured they would call any minute so I continued to finish some work before quitting time. 4:30 rolls around and still no phone call. A sinking feeling starts to build in my stomach as I start to realize that the customer service at this dealership has much to be desired. Then I pick up the phone and speak with Amy at the service desk, who told me that the technician is working on it right now and that she will call me when it is finished. Another hour goes by and at 5:30 I receive a call explaining that they couldn't do it today and that they would call me tomorrow when they were finished. I should have picked up my Jeep right then. She was clearly not telling me the truth when I spoke to her at 4:30. That isn't even the part that I was upset about. It gets worse..... I receive a phone call the following day from Amy. She explains to me that they were not able to figure out how to sync the TPMS to my vehicle. She said that I would need different sensors placed in the wheels because the 2015 TPMS is not compatible with the 2008 Jeep. I wish she would have told me that when I originally spoke with them about my issue. So I go to pick up my Rubicon expecting there to be some logical explanation as to why they were not able to take care of something that the assured me that they could. Instead, they presented me with a bill for $40.84. I questioned Amy and a gentleman claiming to be the manager, about the charges. She said it was for the technician time to reprogram the sensor and drive the Jeep at 15mph for ten minutes. I was amazed that OBX Jeep would charge anything at all when they were not able to do what they said they could do. What was even more amazing was that she offered to replace all of the sensors in the tires and reprogram them for $320. You can imagine my amazement with the ridiculous estimate to install new sensors and reprogram them to sync with my Jeep. Well, if you are looking to waste your money, pay a dealership for absolutely nothing, receive poor customer service, and an estimate for additional work, this is the place for you!!!!! read more

Everyone was nice and helpful! Got us right in and fixed our Jeep that was overheating, and even replaced the air filter for FREE. Not my first visit here, and will not be my last. I've been going to see Harvey and staff for almost 3yrs, never had any concerns, and if I did they were minor and Harvey addressed right away. I was web surfing when I cam across this site and started reading the reviews, usually its only the pissed off people that post, and I wanted to take a moment and show my appreciation for all they have done for our family and friends over the years! I brought in two cars for oil/filter changes (Jeep and Subaru) at different times. First was the Jeep. They told me I also needed a transmission flush because "it looked like the fluid was never changed". Without thinking I said OK. When I got home I checked my past receipts and found a Trans flush was done 5000 miles ago by another mechanic. I guess I was the one flushed. Took the Subaru in and was told it needed a new air filter and the throttle body needed cleaning ($150) plus the oil needed changing in the two differentials. 4x4 service was an additional $250. My $30 oil change was becoming a $430 bill. I said no because I knew these services were performed by my Subaru dealer 15,000 miles ago (for less). The manufacturer and the dealer recommend these services only every 30,000 miles. look out for "add-ons". read more

My extended family of 29 have been vacationing in the Outer Banks for 20 years and we will not be using this dealership ever again. Once we arrived in town, my Town and Country began making funny noises when I braked. I took it there for service and they replaced the front brake pads, rotors and calipers with a total bill of $870.93. The problem seemed to be corrected and I drove the vehicle home without incident. Approximately 2 weeks later the same noise began again and I took it to our local dealership to be evaluated. The new brake pads were bad and had to be replaced - the cost was $194.44. I reached out to the manager of the Outer Banks Dealership asking to be reimbursed for the $194.44 as I essentially paid for the same parts and service twice. It took a full week of multiple phone calls before I could get the manager on the phone. He asked for the paperwork from the dealership that replaced the brake pads and I sent that as requested. He stated the owner had to make that decision. It took another week to get him on the phone. I called almost every day - "he is not in today", "he left early", "he is coming in late", "he is with a customer". When I finally got him on the phone, he said he was not responsible for defective parts and that I should take it up with the manufacturer of the brake pads. He did not stand by his dealership's work or parts and was unapologetic. I am beyond dissatisfied and will never again take a vehicle to this dealership. I was recently on vacation at the Outer banks from PA and unfortunately while we were there our alternator went on our 2014 van. This issue was covered under the warranty HOWEVER the service department wanted me to pay directly and receive reimbursement from the warranty company myself. I spoke with the warranty company and was informed that's not how it's handled. I was told it was one phone call once the problem was confirmed. The service department continued to be difficult with this process and wanted $756.00 payment from me, but after my persistence they finally dealt with the warranty company. HOWEVER once the work was complete they then refused to let me have my van until payment was electronically sent by the warranty company. We went 6 out of our 7 days of vacation without transportation. A loaner or rental was never offered to us even though It should have been through the warranty service. read more

I had my wife's 04 jeep cherokee in to get a leaking head gasket replaced. After talks with the service manager we decided it would be best to replace both head gaskets while it was in there. Once I picked it up I read the invoice and it showed only one gasket was replaced. He said his mechanic Said, no reason to replace the other one. I told him that I wanted both replaced since the mechanic was already gonna be in there and who knows how long the original will last. He gave me a 12 month assurance on the original one said if it goes bring it in and well just charge you for parts. I wasn't happy but I said ok. I get home pop the hood and there is greasy finger prints all over the engine bay and they didn't change the oil or the oil filter like stated on the inVoice. I took it in and raised hell. They cleaned it up and changed the oil. I stopped off and picked up oil and filter because I don't know if they only changed the filter or not. Fast forward 13 months and 7000 miles, both head gaskets are going bad again now and because it's past 12 months they won't do anything about it. This place does shotty work and really doesn't give a crap about their customers. Please avoid at all cost and go somewhere else. read more
