Rented a Toyota from National at Montreal International Airport. Desk clerk was friendly and…read moreprofessional. The car smelled horrible inside with cigarette smoke odor masked with some horrible deodorant. GPS was in French only so could not understand commands or any part of it. Upon arrival to destination, ignition key would not let us remove it so we were unable to get our luggage out of the trunk . It ran out the battery during the night . Eventually we found the secret way to remove it...by positioning of the front wheels...,who would have known? Had to find a store to buy jumper cables etc. Bad start to our trip. Upon our return to the airport...to return our car rental, we were met by Joshua who was a kind, friendly and professional associate who genuinely cared about our experience. He listened to our trials and offered us a $ rebate to help compensate us for our inconveniences on the trip. Hope you give that young man a promotion and recognize what a treasure he is to your organization. He is a wonderful representative of your company and his empathy, more than made up for the dog of a car we had to drive around the area.

Worst experience. We called for our 9:30 pre-reserved pick up as soon as they opened at 7:30 am,…read moreper the national reservation agent instructions. The person at this branch said it was too early to request the pick up, and to call back 30 minutes beforehand. I started calling at 9 a.m. and could never get through to anyone. I would be on hold until I was disconnected for being on hold for too long. After this happened a couple times I called the national number. I was put on hold while they tried to reach the local branch, only for a new agent to come on and for me to start the process all over. The national agent couldn't get through to the office either, and said they would leave a message on their system for the local branch to call us back. As you can probably guess, they never called us back. We needed this car to leave on a day trip out of town and now, four days later, we have still not received a call back! We luckily had no faith and booked the car with another company. Had we waited, our entire day would have been ruined. As it is, we were greatly delayed! I worked in Enterprise briefly and I can tell you that reserving a car means nothing. I understand that they can get busy, but not being reachable Whatsoever, even by the national company, is absurd. I've never had a problem with Enterprise in the United States, but I've heard horror stories about how they operate in Montreal after comparing notes.

I owed a little extra for going over km's and they emailed a bill so I could get home faster. There was a mixup on the prepaid fuel and they worked with me to resolve it. When I asked Marc if it had a GPS, he told me only luxury cars had GPS. He didn't think he had any but when I told him I was driving to Cowansville about an hour away he kindly offered to check and see if there was a car available. And there was. Marc was very kind and patient and really bent over backward to get me a car with a GPS so I wouldn't get lost. He went over the basics of the car and I was on my way in no time. On my return the car was checked over quickly and I was on my way. I would highly recommend Alamo Montreal to anyone looking for a rental while in Montreal and specifically ask for Marc. And your rates are very reasonable.
