There are 142 camping sites, with those numbered 1-75 having been improved. Our site was waterfront on the backwaters of the Alabama River, which offered tranquil scenic views and entertainment as we watched boats pass. The setting was natural, with many trees. Our site was huge, with a long, flat, and paved pad. The site had a picnic table, and full hook-ups. As a federal campground, the prices ($30, with hookups) were reasonable, especially with a 50% discount ($15) for holders of the NPS Senior pass. The campground has a nice playground for the kids, and laundry facilities. Plus, it's in relatively close proximity to Montgomery. One point off on my rating for two reasons -- (1) the campground is across the street from the Montgomery Motor Speedway. Unfortunately, there was a race on the evening when we were there, and there was a lot of noise from the racetrack although it did end before our sleep time. Otherwise, the campground would've been very peaceful. (2) the showers/restrooms are centralized, and quite a trek from our site. We definitely recommend this campground, and would return if we visit Alabama again.

It's located on a small private island in Alabama and is inhabited by friendly goats that you can pet and feed (goat appropriate food that wouldn't upset their digestive system of course). The cost is 5.00 just to visit. You can either pay with cash in an envelope or use a QR code. You then call a phone number and they give you the gate code. They do keep track of license plates, so don't cheat! You can also pay more to camp, and I think this would be a fantastic time! Lots of nice shady places and trees covered in moss, and of course the goats! Great getaway.

During my stay, I experienced a family emergency that required me to move to a larger room and find accommodations for my 1 1/2-year-old granddaughter. Although the hotel doesn't normally provide baby cribs, Ronesha and Shawana worked together to make everything happen. Their compassion, resourcefulness, and genuine concern for my family's well-being were truly remarkable. When I first checked in, my room had a strong smoke odor. Ronesha immediately apologized, found me another room, personally verified the issue, and even helped me move my belongings. Throughout my stay, both she and Shawana regularly checked in to make sure everything was going well and to see if I needed anything else. Outstanding customer service has become increasingly rare, which makes experiences like this even more meaningful. Ronesha and Shawana went far beyond their job responsibilities and turned a stressful situation into a wonderful experience. Their professionalism, kindness, and commitment to serving their guests are a true reflection of Hilton's values. Thank you both for making such a lasting impression. When I tried to get a refund, the man at the desk ("Vicki") ignored me. No lobby, no help, just a little window and silence. Days later, the manager ("Nick") said I didn't "complain enough" to deserve a refund. Absolutely disgusting. The room looked lived in, like someone never left -- and the staff was so rude, acted like it was totally normal.
