This review is for the Payne-Koehler location accessed via Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana, near I-265, exit 4. We made a reservation for a vehicle via their website, received a confirmation email and reservation number, and an employee also called to follow up and confirm. She also requested that we arrive at 5:30 rather than 5 PM to allow a better choice of vehicle, saying they were checking them in. The business closes at 6 PM. We inquired as to a courtesy pickup within less than a mile, which we have done several times in the past, and were told they would be too busy since it was within 2 hours of closing time. We therefore arranged for our own transportation to the business, arrived at the reservation time to pick up the car, and received a phone call from another employee as we entered the lot, stating no vehicle was available. When questioned as to why the first employee did not share this info, he apologized profusely, offered no explanation, and stated they MIGHT be able to arrange for an alternate vehicle the NEXT DAY. This did not resolve our issue. Unprofessional, dishonest, and unacceptable. This location not recommended. EDIT TO ADD: Business rep responds to reviews with a request to contact to provide further info. I attempted to do so, but Chat option closed at 5 PM. Enterprise came to my rescue! While towing my RV in Louisville my "check engine" light came on. So I wanted to rent a truck but it was Christmas Eve! This Enterprise Rent-A-Truck was still open and I made it here just before they closed early for the holiday. They also went above and beyond duty when my ball hitch would not fit correctly and they had an old spare that I could use. This location has a lot of trucks to rent. It's located where Sam's restaurant burned down years ago. Besides having a very large parking lot, they have four big garage bays in the building for servicing trucks of different sizes. I rented a diesel F250 four wheel drive pickup truck that pulled my camper with no issues. They also rent cars. Josh helped me get all hooked up and made sure I was ready to hit the road before he went home for the day on Christmas Eve. I very much appreciated the extra help he gave me when I was stressed out over having engine issues and running behind schedule. read more

I did not run into a single person that didn't have a positive attitude and wanted to be helpful. They didn't have a large SUV when my car went in for repairs, so I decided to move forward with an intermediate size. I had called up there a few days later to see if I could switch it out since insurance was agreeing to pay for a large SUV and they swapped it out for me. And the car I was put in was SO NICE. If I could give them ZERO stars I would. Made a reservation online 3 days in advance for a certain kind of car since my husband had to make a road trip for work. Got the confirmation and no issues. He had to leave at 9am and at 8:30 I get a call asking if we were 'flexible' because the car we were promised wasnt there, they didnt even have the CLASS of car we wanted. My husband shows us, has a much lesser, smaller car and was told if he could wait 'a while' they could get what we wanted. Why do we have to wait when he is on a schedule AND I MADE A RESERVATION!!!! AND on top of all of that he was charged a $300 deposit that we have never been charged before. I was excited there was a location so close to us but I will never go back. The location in the Highlands always took care of our needs with no surprises but this location is awful. Now my husband is on a road trip in a less than safe car and we have no recourse. I called and was given a bill to close out my account. I paid and thought it we were good. I had that charge sent back several days later as a refund and was charged 5 times this amount without explanation. I understand if there is a balance due- that is why I called and spoke to an employee and paid for it. Then I get a charge at 12:24am this morning for an amount with no explanation, no call or email, or even a phone call that there was an error in billing. I paid the final( what I thought was final) from an account that I rarely use and now there is a large charge that was deducted without acknowledgment. Very unhappy with this experience. Shockingly un-Enterprise-like. I always rent through Enterprise because they usually mean it when they say, "we'll make it right." And typically any employee can make it right. But I'm renting a car and will be arriving after they close on December 23. I called to confirm they have a drop box to return the car/keys. When I called, I was told if I drop off after they close, I'd be charged for the full day of the 23rd AND the 24th AND the 25th. When I asked for clarification, I was told I'd have to contact the place I rented from to make it right. I asked why this would be and the person on the phone suggested I return it to the airport. When I pointed out this is far away and inconvenient, she repeated I'd be charged and then hung up on me! WTF. Now I'm stuck trying to figure out what to do and how to prevent $400 in extra unfair charges. Blech. read more

We recently had to deal with all of the bullshit that goes along with a totaled car. You know what I mean. The police report, ambulance ride, insurance company gauntlet, generalized anxiety, and a rental car until a replacement can be obtained. Our insurance company contracts with Enterprise to provide rental cars while repairs or assessments of damage are being made. They set us up with a rental at this location. After a quick phone call to arrange a time, a very nice man drove out to our house, picked us up, and drove us back to the Enterprise lot. I find it odd that all rental car companies fail to deliver this very simple service. There's a reason we needed a rental car. Mostly, you know, the fact we didn't have a car at that time. Upon arrival at the lot, we were informed that they didn't actually have any cars available. They had trucks. They had vans. They had things that keep the petroleum business booming. We were just not interested in spending all that money on gasoline. So, we had to wait a few minutes while a car was arranged from a different location. As luck would have it, someone returned a car right in the middle of the arrangements. It was cleaned up, inspected, and signed out to us within a few minutes. Whenever we've rented a car, we've always pay a little extra for the "walk-away" insurance plan. For a small fee, you can relinquish all responsibility for any damage that the vehicle sustains while in your possession. This has proven invaluable on a number of occasions. You never know when some idiot is going to open their door into the side of your car in a parking lot, or when some jilted crazy person will mistake your car for the car belonging to the object of their obsession and run a key all the way down the side, or when someone will try to jump a skateboard off of the hood of the car while you are sitting at a red light. We added this insurance for about $20 per day. The rental was costing our insurance company around $35 per day. Pretty reasonable. The car was clean and the contract was clear that smoking is not permitted in the rental cars but someone obviously didn't care and smoked a couple of packs of Pall Malls in there. We didn't notice the smell under the scent of air freshener, initially. Later, after the Febreeze evaporated, the stench enveloped us every time we used the car. The gas mileage on this particular car was just as bad as a full sized pickup truck. After a couple of days, we'd stopped off at the gas station 3 times. After fill up number three, we headed over to the Enterprise lot. I expected some resistance. I expected excuses. I expected that we'd just be told to go away. That didn't happen. When I explained that the gas mileage was terrible and that the car smelled like a dirty ashtray, we were offered our choice of three cars on the lot. We selected one with a record for good gas mileage that didn't stink and were on our way within a few minutes. The return was just as easy as the pick up and the exchange. The price was reasonable and the service was pleasant. We'd definitely use this Enterprise location for future car rental needs. Let's just hope we don't have to. read more

This was my first time here,because my car is in the shop for repair. The customer service is HORRIBLE. The Indian lady didnt have good customer service. Then, when I got in the car, it had a smoky smell! I asked if they had one with no smoke, they said all their cars are nonsmoking, so I just left. Poor customer service. Tips to save to you money. Before you pay for Enterprises' insurance, make sure and see if your insurance covers you. I used to work in a body shop in San Diego, and I had great customer service skills, these people who helped me out weren't so great, especially the Indian lady. read more

Aside from the fact that Enterprise is near my house and one of the few rental spots in New Albany, the service has always given me reason to go back when I need to drive for business. The selection isn't particularly amazing. The lot has the rental fleet mainstays along with the occasional van or, if you're lucky like I was, peppy little Fiat 500. Be sure to call ahead if you have particular needs. Otherwise, the store is easily found and accessible (Tip: drive down Daisy from the north toward State St. for ease of use). The staff is always prompt and explains everything concisely. The walk around inspection is typically easy and always well-noted. All the cars I've rented from this location have been clean and mechanically sound. read more

My Father & I went to the New Albany, Indiana Enterprise on 9/2/14 for a car for 2 days to go to Columbus, OH & back. Both of us planned on driving and we were more than willing to pay the extras but Enterprise requested that both parties have a credit card on file & we thought this policy was absurd since I did not use credit cards even though I'm 53 & a CDL driver as well. Ended up that my Father had to do all the driving! Real sorry policy with no merits! AARP is only 5% with Enterprise & I've never seen a discount that low nor have we experienced that rate anywhere else! We were told that a $250 hold on the credit card would be release immediately after paying our bill but...Enterprise stated that they do not accept cash when finalizing the bill! How strange to be in business but refuse American currency?? Needless to say, my Father was really dumbfounded & irritated about this since they did say the day before...quote..."your $250 will be released immediately after paying the bill"... unquote! Certainly was not a good experience, there was a bit of a sarcastic attitude in the customer service department and we both agreed that we will drive to Louisville Airport and stick with Budget in the future! My Father & I are "old fashion" in many areas but we believe deeply that to maintain business, one should do all they can to insure repeat business and neither of us got that feeling from Enterprise at Daisy Lane in New Albany, Indiana. So! We will not do more business with Enterprise and we are going back to Budget where we feel at ease and important when renting a car! read more

We drove quite a distance from our home town to rent a truck to tow a camper. Guys at the truck rental desk had great customer service qualities and were absolutely great! They let us leave our vehicle there overnight so that we wouldn't have to drive both back and forth. Truck was exactly what we needed. ( I wasn't sure I would get my husband to give the keys back! Talk about giving someone the bottom of the barrel car. That's what they gave me. The vents are broken and I can't even move them to blow air where I want it. It smells of smoke. I think I have lost a lunge driving this car. And my head is killing me from the smoke smell. The material on the seats have stains on all seats. And to top it off who ever cleans the car must have overlooked the inside. How can you miss something spilt all over the handle you use to open and close the door. We have been renting from the Daisy Lane Enterprise for a couple of years now and have never had anything but the most positive of experiences. We no longer live in New Albany and still drive to this location to fulfill our rental car needs. Joel and the team are super easy to work with and keep the process smooth! Expect to wait a few minutes when you go to pick up your car, as they are always extremely busy, but the wait is not excessive or obtrusive. The cars are always in great condition. Only complaint is the trouble of getting in and out of their parking lot. read more

I rent a car from this New Albany, IN location about once a year for vacation travel. They have always been very accommodating. Twice they have not had a selected car immediately available and I've had to wait a bit to get a car back from being serviced. (Tire repair/rotation, oil change, etc.). I have rented from this Enterprise location multiple times before and always been pleased with the car and their service but on this occasion there were issues. Even though my pickup wasn't until noon the car wasn't ready. I had to wait outside for the car to be vacuumed, wiped down and washed. I also had to wait for 10 minutes inside when the agent that was working with me took a phone call from a customer. This is a pet peeve of mine. I'm a customer, I waited in line for my turn and now a phone call has essentially cut in line in front of me. Not acceptable. The rental was for two days starting at noon on a Friday. The agent explained that I had until noon on Sunday to return the car and I could use the key drop because the business wouldn't be open. I returned the car before 11:00 on Sunday morning and on Monday morning received an email receipt for three days rental. Enterprise had charged me based on the time they checked me in, 8:00 Sunday night, instead of when the car was returned. Once I contacted Enterprise they changed the charge back to two days but it still required multiple calls to finally reach someone at the business and I am still waiting for the refund to appear on my credit card. At the very least I find the practice of checking in a car when it is convenient for Enterprise to be dishonest. It creates the opportunity for the business to get an extra day's fee out of cars that are already sitting on their lot. I'm sure most customers call and get the charges corrected but it also creates opportunities for Enterprise to steal from customers that don't catch the error. read more

In the last 20 years I have always had a good experience with Enterprise all over the United States. The New Albany branch is no exception to this experience. They have always had the vehicle I needed and work with me to make sure I receive the best rate possible based on my needs at the time of the rental. They also do a stellar job keeping the cars clean and in repair. If one happens to smell like smoke they always offer to exchange it for a different one, and in most cases they have the smokey car completely detailed before renting it out again. **New Payne-Koehler Rd location-formally on **Daisy Lane.** Truly disappointing customer service at new Enterprise location on Payne Koehler Rd. My MIL had dead battery. Called to reserve car. Originally she asked for pickup. Called back to say she would get a ride there instead. They said no problem. Didn't warn her they close at 6pm and this was close to 6pm when she called. We were delayed arriving because we stopped to get car battery checked. We arrived late at 6:15. Even though there was another late pickup rental car sitting there for another customer, they would not help her. First person genuinely apologized she couldn't help per her store manager. Instead of the cheap compact car my MIL had already reserved, she could only offer SUVs at $150/day. However, if she came in first thing Sat. AM, they could get her compact. (What a surprise)Tried to explain she's a nurse and shift starts at 6am. I was done with convo when store manager walked over. He was defensive, argumentative and aggressive.
