I needed a rental car due to car repairs after someone sideswiped me. I thought I was renting from the Libertyville location, but apparently the car was coming from this location. Not ideal. The moment I opened the car door, I was blasted with the strong smell of marijuana. The car absolutely REEKED ! I mentioned it right away and the guy renting me the car did too. He said he put it in his notes, but I doubt he did. I asked for a different car and was told nothing was available. Honestly, if I were to be pulled over by a cop and rolled down the window, I would be given a DWI. The smell was that bad. Entetprise was very dismissive to my complaint and basically said, "too bad, take it or leave it." I was told someone would call me back at the end of the day to let me know when I could switch out the car. No one called me. Incredibly poor customer service. read more

"It's pointless to book in advance" - my experience on 3/24/2025: One month prior to arriving at Enterprise's North Chicago location, I booked a luxury vehicle with them for four days. Despite booking a month prior, I was told by Moe when I arrived that they did not have the vehicle for me. His excuse was that I could not expect a luxury vehicle when I had booked only one day in advance. I corrected him and informed him that I booked my car on February 23rd, not March 23rd as he said. He said that regardless, they did not have the car that I had booked one month prior. I asked about the multiple luxury vehicles that were sitting in the lot, and Moe said that those vehicles were not rentals. I asked him, "So there is essentially no point in booking in advance?" Moe agreed with me that there is no point in advance booking, which I find completely ridiculous. Moe said I could take any other car in their lot, which I was not interested in given the fact that I had booked a particular vehicle well in advance. He did call another Enterprise location for me to see if they had any vehicles for me, which they didn't - despite saying they did on the phone - which resulted in even more wasted time for me. I feel that I was profiled by this Enterprise location (as well as the other location that Moe sent me to). I am a 28-year-old man who appears quite a bit younger. I got a ride to the rental facility from my mother. Despite my booking well in advance and them having multiple suitable cars in the lot, Enterprise refused to give me the car I had reserved. I can't help but feel that if I appeared older, my experience would have gone differently. But I guess Enterprise didn't want my money. Maybe Enterprise North Chicago is suitable if you're in a pinch but if you're planning a trip or coming into town for a couple days, I'd look elsewhere. I've always had a great experience booking with Hertz. read more

Nonexistent customer service, rude manager, you don't get car that was agreed upon and when you question why the answer you can go somewhere else. Tried to call corporate office and filled escalation report nothing happened called multiple times and no response. Car I was given every 1 or 2 days loosing pressure in the tire. The staff at the North Chicago location refused to rent me a car, left me stranded out of state, and all laughed about it. They stole my iPass and tried to steal my laptop by keeping it locked in the car. I've never been treated so poorly and so scared in my life. read more

I unfortunately had a very terrible experience here recently. I booked a reservation online around 2 weeks prior to needing the car for a very time sensitive and important event.. I called a week later and booked a pick up time. I was told that even though my reservation was at noon, along with my pick up time, I would still be okay as far as the processing went. At this point I expected it to go poorly when my name and information wasn't even taken over the phone before being let go by "Antoine". I'm not sure of the spelling, but this was who I spoke to. The day of pick up and rental came and as I suspected, something went wrong. 12:20 rolled around and I decided I was being fair enough with my time, so I gave them a call to ask what happened. The conversation was as follows: Me: "Hi, I had a reservation and pick up at noon." Antoine (again): "Okay." Me: "Well, it's 12:20 now, what happened with all of that." (whispers in the background with a clearly muffled phone, but I could faintly make out the words "oh shit." A: "I'm sorry Mr. (last name) ... interesting that they remembered who I was, but not to pick me up. "but I totally forgot, our pick up guy will be back in about 25 minutes, is that cool?" Me: "Obviously not, I'm pissed off and hanging up the phone now." *click* No, waiting another 25 minutes for an employee who should have been at my house a half hour ago to pick me up for a time sensitive appointment was not cool. After this message I intend on calling the (very hard to reach) corporate number back, and also the BBB. You literally could not provide the services you advertised to a paying customer, and my business meeting was ruined because of it. I actually live down the street and was hoping to rely on this establishment a good deal over the next couple of years, but now my only plan is to seek the highest point on the ladder of this place until this is remedied. read more

I had to rent a car because I was in an accident. This is the closest to my house and have had good experiences with them in the past. My insurance company set it up and I was taken care of quickly! I would highly recommend this Enterprise location to rent a car. Quick service, very friendly, and they were even able to give me a SUV instead of a small car. I have 2 kids in car seats so this really meant a lot to me! read more

Rented a car a few weeks ago. Martina was the worst. Tries to make petty small talk and is uninformative, rude and never on time,not to mention the remainders OF food on her teeth make me quite uncomfortable.for whatever reason she gave me her private number and address on a separate piece of paper which as the opposite sex I found extremely unprofessional. Do not go to this place oh they also always ask for a deposit which they never tell you about until last minute do not go here. Find ANY other place but this one. The cars they bring out are always in terrible condition. read more

Don't bother going here unless you want to get disappointed and lied to. I was late 40 min for my pickup and was told my car was given to someone else. Understandable, but the guy said he would take my name down and call me later in the afternoon when they got more cars. We made a point we were in a hurry to leave town and beat rush hour. No call or follow up whatsoever. That dealership is full of lazy and unknowledgeable sales clerks. Luckily I sensed his lack of enthusiasm to help us out and went to Hertz at the Toyota dealer; they got us in a car right away! read more

I had to wait a little longer than normal to get picked up but the manager, Kelly, made sure to make it up to me. She gave me a free upgrade for the inconvenience and was extremely sincere about the mix up causing the delay. read more

I just returned from the most hassle-free rental car experience ever. I was planning on having my sister-in-law come visit me while I am here, so I booked the rental online, with a special weekend deal (how do you beat $9.99 per day?). I called the office a few days before to make sure I could get a ride from the Navy Base, since some businesses are weird about that. Not a problem! The guy who picked me up was very friendly and super nice and apologetic for the wait, since there was a lot of traffic. I got to the office, was given an upgrade (for military members, I suppose), and had no problem getting a GPS or anything. Not even an hour after I left the office, I got the call that her flight was cancelled! I called the office, which was luckily still open, and they told me to go ahead and bring it back and they would only charge the hourly rate, which I was totally fine with. I got to the office, and the guy at the desk needed to be shown how to void a rental. The manager asked why, and he said because I had it less than an hour and she just said "Okay! No problem!". I left with absolutely no charge (though the transaction will be held on my card for a couple of days just because of the processing) and I still got to pick up my chinese food that I haven't eaten in two years :) I plan on booking again with this Enterprise in a couple of weeks when hopefully the weather will be better and flights won't get cancelled! read more

Under the advisement of Harper, I have had several negative experiences with this branch. From lackluster vehicles and equipment, to outright xenophobic trade practices, this branch is notorious for promising one thing and delivering a less attractive, more expensive alternative. In my many years of pharmaceutical sales/R&D I have encountered many other rental car companies (many of same Enterprise delegation) and most (if any) where a problem occurred, they were willing and able to solve and rectify a situation on a local level. DO NOT rent from this company if you do not intend on contacting corporate directly to rectify their wrongdoings and comment on their conduct. Ask for the "Escalations department'. A far more suited and well mannered staff can be found at the Libertyville location on South Milwaukee Avenue. The extended drive will be worth it in the long run. read more

Martina was useless. Slow slow slow! Took forever to do her job. We waited hours despite her saying the car would be delivered in 5 minutes and then gave us a lame excuse about her Starbucks?! I am a busy man and this was a waste of time. Please do not go here they will waste your time and money. If you get stuck with Martina's terrible service you're done , be sure to set the entire day aside as you will be be wasting half a day on something that would take literally 5 minutes elsewhere. read more

I rented a car from them only because my car was at the shop. I've had all but pleasant experiences from them. I've had the car for week and a half and I'm returning it Friday because I can figure other means of transportation than to deal with them much longer. It started of with Channel showing up fifteen minutes late to the shop from what we agreed on. I am therefore now late to work. She was in a rush as so was I. Before I took the keys from her I asked when will my card get charged for the services. She clearly stated that I would get charged when I would return the car, no sooner. To my surprise I have a $300 hold on my account the next day. I called and they said it was because I gave them a debit card and because my insurance reimburses me. So they charged me that. I asked why Channel did not explain either reason to me when we met. Could not give me an answer and petty apologize were done by the office manager. Today they called me about a balance that I have because the $300 has run out. I asked why because based on my calculations I still should have money over. He stated I have the insurance as well, when I again told Channel I did not want the insurance because my insurance advice me not to get the renal car company insurance because I won't need it as my insurance covers it. She had me initial off on the insurance, or so I trusted her. Well the insurance has been charged and they will not credit my account back. All but bad experiences and no customer service at all to satisfy their customers. Will never use and should have never used them. read more
