Travis at Enterprise Waukegan is VERY unprofessional and unpleasant to speak with. Me and my dad came to this location 01/21/2025. My dad went inside and made reservations while I sat in the car. I saw one employee helping him through the window. Travis stated that only trucks were available and we could pick up a car 01/22/2025 at 1:00 PM. We arrived and entered the store at 12:57 PM finding the same EMPLOYEE TRAVIS . My dad stated we made a reservation this man had the audacity to say he doesn't see anything in the system so the reservation wasn't made. I asked my dad wasn't this the same man you made the reservation with yesterday. He said YES. I asked Travis if he doesn't recall making the IN PERSON reservation with him yesterday and he says he didn't make the reservation. I tell him that's weird because he spoke directly to you. My dad said let it go. But this man then says he did make the reservation but it's no longer in the system. He then magically sees the reservation when we're ready to leave because why would we try to make another with the same person who said he didn't make our last. He said the reservation was for North Chicago. But now he can change it to his location. For the run around I much rather have drove to the other location to get a vehicle. But my dad was ready to get the process over with. Would 100% suggest going to a different enterprise location if using them at all. Not even 30 minutes into having the car, I need to use the windshield wipers from the salt outside. Just for them to make the front window almost un drivable because they need to be replaced. read more

Horrible service when returning the vehicle although great service when getting the vehicle. The car turned out to be pretty good. Upon returning the vehicle, no one was in the office and I proceeded to the garage where the customer service rep was vacuuming a vehicle. I handed him the keys and told him that I was returning the car. He shook his head and mean mugged me while grabbing the keys. I then stated "that's rude". He ignored me and continued to vacuum. I'll never use this facility again. The rep was a thin white guy in his 20s. This occurred on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 @ 8:30 am. The enterprise rental company has not verbally contacted me to resolve this and i issued formal complaint. It's been a month. read more

After being screwed over at Enterprise Ohare, the guys here were able to still help me out and get me a car even if it was minutes before closing. Didn't get the employees name, but he was able to hook it up with a small but gave "fast n the furious" vibes Chevy spark for a couple days, helped me carry my suitcases into the car, and minutes later I was off, making my arrival to IL easier. read more

HEROES I had a pickup truck rented in the city (at another Enterprise) and when they didn't call to confirm I called them only to find out they couldn't find my reservation. They then tried for three hours to get me my vehicle but it wasn't going to happen. On a side note, almost every car and truck was unavailable even at the two major airports at every car rental location in Chicago. I turned my search north and saw there was a pickup available at this location. I immediately made a reservation but that doesn't mean that the location would actually have it on the lot. Pickup trucks are special at Enterprise and some planning needs to take place prior to picking one up. I immediately called to confirm but it was 6pm and they close at 6. They actually picked up the phone. This meant the world to me. They confirmed that they saw my reservation and that they would have a red chevy Silverado pickup waiting for me in the morning. I was amazed with the level of customer service, even though the office was closed for the evening. I was so happy to go to bed with the peace of mind my truck would be there. They only hassle was getting up early to fight Chicago traffic to pick up the truck. That wasn't their fault. When I pulled into the parking lot of this location there was my beautiful red pickup truck sitting in the first spot. I was so excited and then I had to wait because they were busy. I listened to every transaction to make sure no one was going to give my truck away to the customers in front of me. Luckily they didn't and I drove away a happy customer. Thanks so much to the incredible staff and management of this location. Enterprise is a special company that offers a level of customer service that surpasses other rental companies. BEWARE!!!!! You will end up paying double maybe even triple for renting a car with enterprise. VERY SHADY. Rented me a car with no gas in it mentioning "it's missing about a quarter tank so I'll give you 5$ off" The tank was empty. I filled the tank and brought it back more than half filled. They checked the car in as empty tank and didn't reimburse. I can't even get in touch to talk to someone and it's been almost a week. This is a fraudulent Enterprise dealer that used my name and email to set up a rental through an insurance company. They would call and leave a message but when I called back they never answered. If I could give a 0 I would Shawn who works there is very rude and still didn't explain to me why I didn't receive a refund of $600 stating they put a hold on my credit card which I brought my bank account statement stating they charged my debit card not my credit card he stated I can show you the paperwork which means nothing as they charged my debit card. As an Insurance Agent I will never recommend them to any of my clients and I will also let my friends who are agents to send them to Hertz. The short version... 1. Booked a 3-day weekend reservation 5-days in advance starting at 10:00AM on a Friday. Called at 9:45 requesting a pick-up and was promised they'd be there by 10:15 (which came and went). After another call someone arrived at 10:45. 2. Got what has become the standard Enterprise song-and-dance: "we're really busy, and have no cars." "Cars coming from Highland Park (or wherever): traffic really bad." Never mind that I had a confirmed reservation which I had made 5-days in advance. Put another way; this wasn't last minute and I wasn't a walk in. 3. After enduring the "world is coming to an end, and little children (the rich-ass Taylor family) will starve, if you don't buy our ridiculously over-priced and loop-hole laden insurance" diatribe (even after repeatedly stating that I had Geico and was using an American Express card), finally on the road at 11:30. This for a 10:00AM reservation. 4. Except for a wonderful experience at the Ft Lauderdale airport a few months ago, the scenarios above have occurred every time I have rented from a neighborhood Enterprise (at multiple locations across the U.S.) in the past year. 5. Returned the car on Saturday only to learn that the $20.00 per day rate was the "summer rate" (even though that was not indicated on their web-site, on my reservation, or on the rental agreement) and that the daily rate was actually $40.00. The scum-bag District Manager, who happened to be there that day was aggressively accusatory, implying that it was my responsibility to know what their summer rates are. The longer version... I've been an Enterprise customer for 30-plus years--and today was the last day I ever rent from them. While Enterprise was once the only game in town, most of the other major rental car companies now have locations in the Gurnee/Waukegan area. Enterprise seems to have chosen to cater to the Debit Card market, and treats everyone as if they are dead-beats (even if you are holding a Platinum American Express card). Like too many American companies, Enterprise has been taken over by accountants and attorneys: worried only about how much money they can squeeze out of every transaction while simultaneously shoving as much risk as possible off onto their customers--rather than operating like the service business they once were. Every time I go into an Enterprise location, there is a new crew of earnest young college graduates asking an ever-changing set of questions--the turnover in employees is constant and profound. Enterprise has made a specialty of luring naive young college students with the promise of a "career" while they endure management abuse, instability, and low-wages. Thankfully, the employees finally wise up, get smart, and go somewhere else. If you are a college graduate considering working for Enterprise, you'd be better off working in fast food--this place will use you up, burn you out, and then throw you out with the days trash. And at Chipotle, at least you'll get lunch. All of the Enterprise locations in the Waukegan/Gurnee area seem to be managed by an ex-jock with anger/abuse issues who comes perilously close to being a bully--both of his customers and his employees. Observations or complaints are met with challenges both to the statement and the premise. "We're sorry," or "we made a mistake," is not something you should expect to come out of his mouth. Ever. Most of the stores in the Waukegan area are dirty, poorly maintained, and pretty much dumps. The stores in places like Libertyville, Grayslake and Highland Park (surprise!) are markedly cleaner, newer, and better maintained. The fact that those locales cater to a predominantly white demographic is, I'm sure, coincidental. When I'm done with this review I will be writing to Great Lakes Naval Station Command to suggest that they need to provide an alternative to Enterprise for military personnel. read more

I had to rent a car based on my being in the shop. I was picked up and greeted nicely, did the walk-around to inspect the car, and all was fine. I should have checked the inside. It was the filthiest car I've ever rented. It looks as though someone lived in it and just it's got back from the beach. If the jeep dealer wasn't paying for my rental, I wouldn't be going back to this location. read more

Thankfully my full holiday was not as bad as 12/1-12/14 and this is my first experience with Enterprise. I arrived in O'Hare which I had setup reservations to pick up a sedan from and drop off in Waukegan. Everything was smooth from airport to the pick up location. The staff on site was very friendly and courteous during the process of getting the vehicle. But the inspection is where as a customer I feel I made a mistake of not speaking up or saying anything. The lady doing the inspection did it in a poorly lite location and the vehicle had it's check engine light and back right tire had very low pressure. As a first time renter I've learned my lesson never to trust these people. I didn't do any of the walk around inspection or interior, I stood by and let the employee do it. I'm not sure how she missed all of the items mentioned above but I was exhausted from my flight and just wanted to get to my family's home. So leave the place and sign off and didn't think twice about what just happened. I make it to Waukegan and had rented this vehicle just when wanted to see my friends and buy some groceries. I wasted money on renting for so long, next time I'll just take a cab or something since I only saw my friends 1 time and groceries were already taken care of. All I did was visit the store and mall once and did not notice any abnormal on the vehicle other than the things I mentioned already. Well upon my return inspection is where I was in for a surprise. The vehicle was completely ok and I had mentioned the issues above but the lady who was doing the inspection mentioned to me there was a small in-dent on the outside of wheel well near the start of the door. I saw it visible during the return but to my surprise the O'Hare location and the Waukegan location do not share the same backend system (I asked the Waukegan location about this) to verify that this dent was pre-existing and the lady who did the first inspection put no damage down. How can I trust anyone here considering that the engine light was on and wheel was low. So they took my insurance information and I'm waiting to hear that they file a claim. I have always experienced good customer service with Enterprise. I was involved in a car accident and my insurance company payed for my rental for an undisclosed amount of time. I was responsible for (3) days which was worked out between myself and a car rental agent at Enterprise in Waukeegan. I found three charges on my card from Enterprise, the first for a $50.00 Deposit. The following charges made no sense because one was for $44.57, and the third and final was for $128.64. This only became more convoluted as we progressed. I should have been charged $27/day for three days and ended up going through an explanation that was more confusing than Finnegans Wake by Joyce. The car itself was missing letters on the back for the model, they did note that. The engine light was on the entire time and they overcharged me. We finally came to an agreement on cost and I have yet to get the remaining refund. The service in the past has been good but I would recommend that Progressive Insurance use a different vehicle rental company. Thank you and good luck! read more

My Car was in the shop so i rented a car, they could not pick me up , i was very frustrated at first because i had to go to work, when i got to the office they made it up to me and gave me an upgrade for the price of the compact car, they gave me the Chrysler 200 which was very nice, i loved the way it looked, handled, i cannot say enough about it. I might be renting from them again in October to drive to Iowa and they gave me a very sweet deal on the Chrysler i will be going back for sure. The staff is very friendly and professional. I called the toll free number to make my reservation a month in advance of July trip. I needed a mini van for almost 2 weeks and was able to secure a vehicle for our needs. Very friendly and knowledgeable CSR after getting my confirmation number I called the local office in Waukegan to which I would be picking up the rental to verify dates and amounts no issues at all. They called me the day before to confirm my rental again verified the dates and type of car all was good. I got there upon opening and was out of there in less than 20 minutes. All the staff was friendly and worked together to get us in and out. The vehicle was larger than quoted that was an extra bonus. I will definitely return. read more

I rented several times from this location and had always good experience. Only in my recent rented car, I had some issues like headlight brightness was low, wiper blades was not cleaning properly; so I had a difficult ride at night when it was heavily raining. I reported when returned the car and they apologized for the same and told will take appropriate action and also given some discount in the rental payment.
