Very Disappointing Experience at Enterprise Bridgewater This is the second disappointing experience I have had with the Enterprise Bridgewater location, and unfortunately, it makes me question how customers are treated when their rental is being paid for by insurance. Last week, I made a reservation for a rental car because my Nissan Altima was being taken to a body shop for repairs. Progressive was paying for the repair and the rental and had selected Enterprise for the rental. When I made the reservation, I clearly indicated that my vehicle was a Nissan Altima and that I needed a rental car, specifically a 4-door sedan. Enterprise picked me up from the body shop and brought me to the Bridgewater location. We arrived around 4:30 PM. Once there, I was told that the only vehicle available was a Kia minivan. I explained that I had made a reservation and was expecting a sedan. I asked if they could check with another Enterprise location to find a 4-door car, but I was told they couldn't. I then contacted Progressive myself. They advised me to contact the Enterprise location in Hillsborough or Hertz. I called the Hillsborough Enterprise location myself and was told that they had a car available. I immediately told the Bridgewater employee that Hillsborough had a car available. She then asked to use my phone so she could speak directly with the Hillsborough employee. After speaking with Hillsborough using my phone, the Bridgewater employee told me that an Uber could take me to the Hillsborough location and that the cost of the Uber would be credited to my rental bill. She also told me that I could wait at Bridgewater in case a vehicle was returned. While I was waiting, another customer came in. He told me that he did not even have a reservation and wasn't sure if he would get a car. Yet, he was given a 4-door car. When I asked the employee why he was given a 4-door car while I was still waiting with a reservation, I was told that he was a corporate customer. Then, around 6:00 PM, I was told that I had to leave because they were closing and they had no car for me. This is what I find unacceptable: I had a reservation and was specifically asking for a 4-door sedan. Another customer walked in without a reservation and was given a 4-door car, while I was told there was nothing available for me. What makes this even more frustrating is that Enterprise knew I had no transportation because they had picked me up directly from the body shop where my Nissan Altima was being repaired. I was completely dependent on them for transportation at that point. This is also the second incident I have experienced with this Enterprise location where I felt that, because the rental was being paid for by insurance, I was not being treated like a regular paying customer. It felt as though they knew the insurance company was paying for the rental and expected me to simply accept whatever vehicle they offered me. If there genuinely was no 4-door vehicle available, I could understand. But seeing a customer without a reservation receive a 4-door car while I was left waiting, despite having a reservation and no transportation, was extremely upsetting. I did not ask for a luxury vehicle or anything unreasonable. I asked for a 4-door car because that is what I needed and what I had reserved. I hope Enterprise management seriously reviews what happened at this location and looks into how insurance-paid rental customers are being treated. Having insurance pay for the rental should not mean that the customer has to accept whatever vehicle is available while other customers receive the type of vehicle they need. After two incidents like this, I would be very hesitant to use this Enterprise location again. read more

I'm annoyed that I even have to give this wretched business one star. My son was visiting over Memorial Day weekend and received confirmation that this business would be open and that his car would be waiting for him. Imagine his surprise when he went to pick up his car and the business was closed for Memorial Day. There were quite a few other people there in the same situation who also had received confirmations. To make matters worse, after a few bad reviews and contacting enterprise on Instagram, a regional manager was supposed to get in touch with him. No regional manager reached out. Unbelievably bad customer service. Absolutely terrible business from the top down, and this location is just horrid. He never did receive an apology or any kind of credit. STAY AWAY!!!!!! Rented from Enterprise Raritan and had a really great experience overall! The car I got was a 2025 Toyota Camry SE Hybrid -- super clean, modern screen, and it being a hybrid was a nice bonus. The pickup process was smooth, and the girl behind the desk was super nice -- sorry I didn't catch your name! Return was just as easy. The only reason this is a 4-star review is because I got pulled over -- the cop said the plate wasn't registered to any car in the system. Thankfully, he was able to call Enterprise directly, verify everything, and let me go. It worked out fine since I wasn't in a rush, but it definitely shouldn't have happened in the first place. UPDATE (August 6-7): Rented again, same class of car -- this time got a 2024 Toyota Camry (white, pictured below). This rental was perfect -- smooth pickup and return, and no issues at all. Booked a car weeks ago, only to show up and find that the enterprise location was closed. No staff working at all to answer questions. I called the main help line, where they filed some ticket for me to get a car. Eventually they said a regional manager would get in contact with me shortly. Well, it has been a day now with absolutely nothing. I traveled from Europe to visit my parents after not seeing them for a year and this totally ruined the trip and left me stranded. NEVER use enterprise and certainly NEVER use this location. read more

Update: Per the Business Manager's request above, I sent the information requested so Enterprise could look into this further. The response: nothing in the two days since I sent the information. So I've now returned the car, and won't be using Enterprise again. In the one week I had the car, no one from the Raritan branch did anything proactively to help get me into the right car, despite my calls. It didn't escape me that I returned this car today to a lot full of available Enterprise cars. Charged my card before giving me a car. They said they could do that before giving me a car. I thought that it was careless and irresponsible to charge the card before making sure I was able to obtain the vehicle. They reversed the charge but it's been 4 days since I have seen the security deposit go back on my card. I would recommend Hertz Car Rental in North brunswick. I am 20 years old and I was able to obtain a full size Nissan Altima from Hertz. They were friendly and their security deposit is only $50 compared to $200. Getting the car was a pleasant experience, returning it was the opposite. The attendant went outside to inspect, I look from inside the office, he went directly to the back and return telling me the car was damaged, I went out and looked where he was pointing and see a small crush that I miss on my visual when I got it. I declared I didn't had any incidents and he told me it provably happen when it was parked. All of it sound to me like a scam to get more money from you. This Enterprise ruined our vacation by giving us a car that had its engine light come on 350 miles away from home. Brake light came on and the manual said it may not be safe to drive. First time I came here I had a reservation (made about a week in advance) for a full size sedan. After arriving at the store, I was informed that they were all out of full size sedans and was given a huge pickup truck, with no running boards. It was a nice truck but near impossible to get into. I drove it for a few days, and got around 9-13 MPG. After a lot of complaining and calling various other locations I was switched to a two door car. I will say I enjoyed the two door car - but it was not what I booked (full size sedan). Second attempt. Called before heading over, and referred my reservation, was told that they had full size sedans. Got there an 1.5 hours later and they only had pickup trucks. Although other rental companies are closer to home and more convenient, I prefer this location which is closer to my job just because of the great customer service. I rented from here and needed a ride to my mechanic to pick my car up. My mechanic is 4 minutes away from them by the way, and they said they are unable to provide rides after 5pm even though they close at 6pm. I got there at 5:15pm. My mechanic was literally 4 minutes down the street so it seemed a little ridiculous to me as to why they wouldn't be able to. Unfortunately they did not go above and beyond in providing customer service so I will not be renting from them again that's for sure. read more

I booked a car online through Experian and confirmed a price of $162.19 -- base price plus taxes and fees. Check in was simple, although all on an tiny unreadable pad. No paper provided. I did upgrade for a half tank of gas (hybrid-- I used next to nothing) and tolls. Drop off was also simple. I was told I'd get my receipt via email. It never came. I wish I had good news. I have traveled a TON and I have rented hundreds of cars mostly from other major rental car agencies. This was by far the WORST customer service I have every received anywhere, anytime from anyone, in any industry. The assistant manager was not only disrespectful to me she was actually cruel. At the end of the day policies and procedures are policies and procedures and those of us with business experience very clearly understand and can most likely respect most business situations. Having the skill set of dealing with people is important especially in the car rental business. This location offered the most immature response to a basic customer challenge. I will never understand how some people receive (semi) promotions when they appear to abuse their power. I ended up taking an Uber as a result of the treatment. There is always a more reasonable and more palatable manner in which to deal with challenges. Perhaps it is just the addition of having basic manners. This experience really demonstrated that just about any person with any level of skill or lack there of can not only be employed but be responsible to model any kind of behavior. SO disappointed! Rented a car in May and was so satisfied! Not this time! They tried telling me they did not have my mid sized vehicle even though I reserved a month ago. They tried putting me into a suburban! You have got to be kidding me!! They finally came up with a Chevy Malibu when I said I would not take it because it is a school bus! The car was absolutely filthy on the outside and all the windows were coated in a film like a smoker had been driving it. To top it all off, they are attempting to scam me out of an extra $52.00! When I asked the girl at the front desk why it was so much more compared to the rental agreement she said the original price did not include taxes. After dropping the car off and viewing my original estimate vs. the final bill, the estimate did include sales tax. I have phoned twice asking about this and she tells me the original estimate does not make sense. Just happy I used my credit card and can dispute this. They just lost a good customer and I will make sure to get the word out how pathetic this outfit in Raritan is. read more
