The one star is for the woman who answered the phone. And that she was able to tell me the following without any emotion or shame in her delivery. Today I inquired about renting a small car for about 5 days . I would pick it up in Riverhead and return it to the Commack location. I was told that there would be a fee for dropping it off at another location. Of course, that is to be expected. The car rents for $ 361/ week. With the drop off fee, the charge becomes $1600++. In other words, it costs over $1300 more if you wish to drop the car at a location 40 miles closer to New York City. The agent's explanation: They are "losing the car permanently" when it goes to another location. What? Pardon me, don't all cars go back and forth to multiple locations over the course of their lives as rental cars as evidenced by your being loaned cars frequently bearing out of state plates? Seriously ? When did this happen? Have I been asleep at the wheel? ( pun intended) Dealing with Enterprise gives a whole new meaning to highway robbery . Unfortunately, renting a car is a necessity at times and Enterprise is probably no worse than most companies , but doesn't public transportation or a friendly Uber ride look better under such circumstances? To anyone who is trying to rent a car....be sure, you know that in order to obtain the car you will need credit available on your card of the rental fee PLUS $200. Not everyone has this available to them, and if you don't - no car. Be sure you are also aware, that if you use a debit card you will need to bring a utility bill in your name that does NOT have a balance due. Both of these issues appeared to have not been necessary to mention when I initially booked the car. A review for Enterprise? On Yelp? Why yes, and it all has to do with Jackie G's exceptional customer service. We landed into the Francis S. Gabreski Airport (KFOK) airport and she picked us up in a beautiful BMW 528 sedan. Wasn't expecting that, but they really do stand by their tagline of 'We'll pick you up'! Vehicle had 6k miles on it and Jackie was as cheerful and polite as can be, explaining the rental procedure, sharing some humorous tales of people trying to work the system with the damage / loss waiver and really helping us ease into the new operations area with local recommendations on cuisine and logistics. I promise we didn't abuse that beautiful BMW, but I can personally attest to the exceptional sound system (and handling with Sport mode engaged). Service was great. Cody is the man. Called me the day before to remind me the pick-up time and type of car they had for me. Arrived and there was a small line but the staff got thru the customers quickly. Cody took me out to the car - went thru the necessary questions including insurance - he offered it - detailed the coverage - I declined - he left it at that. Car was beautiful - 10k miles - immaculate. Drove off happy. Returned the car 4 days later - there was Cody all set with my paperwork. We quickly looked the car over - and I was on my way. Now - we left some stuff in the car under a seat... Called Cody - He went and found the staff had set it aside... Went back - Cody had it all ready for us. Years ago, Enterprise had let me down at another location and this office in Riverhead, changed my mind on their service! They worked with my auto repair shop, Beach Auto and were waiting for me with a warm car and and friendly smiles when I came to drop off my car for repairs. Hopefully this team is trying to make-up for past mistakes listed in the older reviews. They do not always pick-up the phone but deserve a new chance as they proved right by me this time! read more

Avoid this shady place if you don't want to get ripped off. Got pressured into taking their insurance which they knew very well I didn't need. Rental agreement didn't clearly state what the daily insurance charge would be. Ended up with a $600 charge on my credit card which manager was unwilling to negotiate. read more

Be very careful renting from this spot. Told safe to drop off night before and could use drop box. Called next day and told vehicle had damage. Parking lot not secure and no cameras to protect the vehicles! Do not rent from this location and do not leave your car or the rental car in the parking lot. Not secure. read more

I reserved a car at the Medford location scheduled for pick up on 3/15/2022, through a third party booking agency. I was immediately called by the location as I being dropped off by my Uber to pick up the car only to be told there were no vehicles available, and no timeframe of any returns. I was told she would call me back, as I was on the phone with her, coworker from the same office called saying the exact same thing. They had no direction, solution, nor was I even offered to check for any other locations, I had no recourse to Uber back home. The most ATROCIOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER RECEIVED. Thankfully I was able to book a reservation through the Riverhead NY, location for the next day. When I arrived it was very inviting, I was provided with open dialogue as to what options were available to me. I was accommodated by Tyler Kruzeski and Andrew A.P, so professional, kind, as well as efficient. They even dropped me off to my vehicle when I returned the car. Spectacular customer service from start to end, I will definitely be back for any rental needs, and recommend them to everyone. I did not give 5 stars because the car was dirty inside and wet down outside so it looked clean, but was filthy. I am a neat person so I was perturbed. read more

The staff here is great. Jean was extremely accommodating and patient while we rented two cars for a week. Jean explained the rental in detail so we fully understood the agreement. Returning the car was a little difficult because it was a weekend. They only had one person at the desk. There should be more staff at the register. confirmed a compact car rental. When I got there they tried to rent a much larger car to me. When I dropped car off in Southampton they wanted to charge me $50 for not bringing back to Riverhead. I returned the car two days early , with more gas that they gave to me with and charged me for the entire week. Never gave me the option to keep the car since they claim I rented it for a week. Our car broke down, so we needed to rent one for a few days. First of all when we came in to Riverhead location, there was no inventory, only one truck which they offered for $100 per day. My daughter was in the house checking reservation online, and online it said that this moment they have a small car for 59.99. When I asked the employee why does it say online that the car is available, she said that the system is not updated. So the next question was: so if my daughter reserves the car for 59.99 online and comes and you only have a truck for $100 what's going to happen? Than the lady said that they will give us a $100 car for 59.99. So of course, my daughter placed a reservation online, sent me the email with confirmation, and right there I asked for 59.99 rate and she had to give it to me, also by that time the other car( smaller) pulled up. So we saved $40 just by making a reservation online. Also, the driver license and the CREDIT card have to be in one name. They accept debit cards only on small cars. And there is a $250 deposit. read more

Ignorant employees who commit credit card fraud!!! In a nutshell I was involved in an automobile accident on 7/28/17 (dates will become relevant) which ultimately led to my car being totaled. Geico insurance company assumed liability and forced me to rent a car from Enterprise in Riverhead as they have a contract. First car had to be returned after 1 wk (should have been sooner but location closed on wkend) for check engine light. New car picked up on 8/7 had light with "service action required" told to ignore by Jason. Jason also informed car needed to be returned on 8/14 as Geico no longer authorizing. Informed Jason ok receiving delivery on 8/12 of my vehicle but not until late in the day 3:30 to 4:00 pm ish. Once again Enterprise closed. Jason said leave car at dealership they would pick-up on Monday, August 14th - no a problem they do it all the time. I purchased my car, left the keys with salesman and case closed. On September 14, 2017 received a call from dealership car rental still there never was picked up. Immediately called Enterprise screamed at them for their incompetence and told "no problem will pick up". Wow do not even notice a car missing for a month., Told Jason don't even think about charging insurance company or me - said it wouldn't happen. Well guess what they charged my Visa almost $1000.00 on October 3, 2017. That my friends is fraud. Jason at Enterprise told me that because the dealership didn't call it was my responsibility. Funny it was his idea back on 8/7 to leave the car there, on 8/11 I confirmed with them that they would pick the car up on 8/14 and when that comes and goes I have to follow-up but you can willy-nilly charge someone's card without authorization. I have contacted my credit card company and filed a fraud claim and additionally will be contacting the Better Business Bureau, Consumer Affairs, the NYS Attorney General, Channel news 2, 4, 7 and 12 as well as the Riverhead Police Department. So if all of you previous commenters championing Jason and all the outstanding staff at Enterprise in Riverhead, NY want to post bail for them go ahead. read more
