I rented a Toyota Camry from Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Vestal. I do not recommend the car (the Camry isn't awful by any means, but if you want superior comfort and handling for a similar rental price, go with the Nissan Altima -- Enterprise rents those as well). However, the Enterprise employees were, as I've come to expect, friendly and professional. On the return trip, an hour out of Vestal, a rock flew off a truck driving ahead of me on the interstate and knocked a small chip out of the windshield. Ugh, I thought. Here comes a big repair bill. But what actually happened? I mentioned the damage to the Enterprise employee who handled the return, and... Nothing. It was fine. Apparently that sort of thing is relatively cheap and easy to fix, and Enterprise didn't add a penny to my bill. That's twice now that Enterprise has exceeded my expectations. Unfortunately, yesterday June 1, 2026 around 2:30 pm my wife and I stopped in to our local Enterprise in Vestal, NY to inquire about renting a car for June 2, 2026 so she can go down to NYC to visit her sister who is undergoing serious cancer treatments. Because we was unable to reserve one online we was hoping that they would be able to help us. When we entered the Enterprise we had spoke to a young man named Jared at the front desk. During this time we explained to him how we couldn't find a vehicle available online and how we really only needed a car basically for a One Day rental. So, Jared showed us one they had available right then and there. We then explained to him that we wouldn't need a car until 5:30 - 6:00pm so this way we would be sure to have enough time to drive back and forth and still have enough time to get it back for the following day. Jared then told us Enterprise must have a block on their Online reservations, he then turned around and asked his fellow employee (Spencer) if they must have a block on their online reservations. After they spoke Jared then told us the best thing to do was to "Reserve the vehicle online and just keep trying no matter how many days it says until it goes through and then when we come back later to get the vehicle they would adjust it to the One Day rental. So, on our way back my wife went online to do exactly what Jared said to do. Finally the online reservation went through but the only vehicles available in our area was if you was renting it for 5 days or more. With that being said she set up the reservation like Jared told us to do. Now at this time we go to Enterprise to get the vehicle, when we enter the store we did not see Jared anywhere there but instead I noticed the gentleman in the back who Jared spoke to earlier about this situation was at the counter (Spencer). Spencer asks us how he can help and shortly after while my wife was explaining to him about the reservation and what we was told earlier he goes from being decent to very arrogant almost instantaneously. I told him the guys name was Jared who told us this information. Then Spencer says he can't just adjust the reservation like that and we will have to step aside and wait on those customers who already have reservations. Then he says we'll your Reservation wasn't until 6:00pm By this time I am upset so decided to leave the building and calm down before I reenter. About 10 mins go by, so I come back in and my Wife is patiently waiting in the corner and I tell her that is messed up. Shortley after that Spencer calls us up to the desk in an unpleasant tone in which he proceeds with a very arrogant grin on his face and then asks my Wife, "Have I done something wrong?" He obviously can see she is frustrated, and she answers him back and says " No you been Great!" In a low monotone voice. Spencer instantly looks at her and says "Good your Reservation has been CANCELED!" and shortly after he says "You guys are done here!" with a very unapologetic and condescending attitude and then he just stands there gives us this arrogant grin. Unfortunately, that was enough for me and I asked him "What did you say to my Wife?" He says again to me "You guys are done here!" By now I blew up and was like "Who the Fuck are you talking to like that and I told him I wanted to choke the shit out of him and beat his Ass!" He instantly replied and said is that a Threat! and "I said nope a promise!" The Spencer says "Come on, Come on I am here Come On!" By now my Wife is holding me and walking me out of the building while talking the sense back into me. The thing is we have used Enterprise in the past and always had a good experience with them. So now we can't go visit her sister in the city who has been undergoing serious cancer treatments and is experiencing some issues. But unfortunately now we can't get down to see how she is doing because of Spencer and his attitude and wonderful customer service. I know, I shouldn't have blown up but this guy was just running on a power trip that now has effected my Wife and her Sister during these tough times. read more

A few weeks ago, I rented a car from Enterprise. Their driver spent the better part of the 20 minute drive espousing racist, unhinged views. After you've rented a car from Enterprise, they send you a survey. I filled out that survey. Clearly nobody reads them, or acts on them, because that racist is still driving for Enterprise, fully supported by his manager. When I tried to rent a vehicle from them today, the manager pulled me aside and informed me that the driver in question said that I said " I hope you crash your car". I never said that. I explained to the manager the conversation that took place in the vehicle and he accused me of lying. He also told me I wouldn't be renting a car from them today. I called the police and while I was waiting for the police, I called Enterprise Central. As I was explaining my situation to Enterprise Central, the manager, who was sitting 30 feet away from me, started interjecting comments, from across the room...disputing the things I was saying. When I responded to him, he accused me of being loud and charged across the store... As he walked past me, he said "I'm calling The Police". I said "I've already called them". His response to this was "they will come for me, not for you." Not normal. Highly unprofessional behavior. (If anybody from Enterprise corporate actually looks at these reviews, pull the video from the Vestal store... You can literally witness this manager behaving this way.) As I was explaining the events the police officer, a young lady standing behind the counter, no more than 5 feet away from me was very intently, staring at me... Paying very close attention to every word I said. I stopped talking to the police officer for a moment and directed my attention at her, I told her to make sure she documents everything. This young lady got so triggered, she called me "snarky". This young lady is very observant... People usually become snarky when you treat them like garbage. Give her a raise! After documenting everything with the police officer, he informed me that they would be trespassing me from the store. I laughed. I gleefully signed that trespass... Who in their right mind would want to return to a retail establishment that treats its customers like absolute garbage? They are entitled to refuse service for any reason. I am entitled to share my experiences, and this was literally one of the worst retail experiences I have ever had.... And because of that, I will be sharing it far and wide, so that nobody else has to endure this type of ridiculous behavior in a retail environment read more

The location could ensure they have the right types and amounts of vehicles available to ensure that all customers who have booked ahead of time are provided the correct vehicles when they arrive. I waited for over 2 hours and was not provided the SUV I booked, I was offered a car that the front seats were absolutely filthy and stained, meanwhile those that arrived after I did were provided the SUV I should have had. This has been multiple horrible experiences with this facility they need new management and processes. read more

I made a reservation over a month prior to the pick-up date for a 7 day mini-van rental for a planned family vacation. The day of pick up I provided all information for the quick check-in and pick-up. I arrived at 5:15 p.m. for my 5:00 p.m. pick-up and discovered a number of people waiting at the facility but no line to check-in. I went up to the desk, provided my information and was informed that they had no vehicles available for rent for reasons outside of their control. (recalls, people not returning on time). I confirmed the reservation the day of. No one called to inform me there were no rentals prior to showing up at the facility. Luckily for me, I can make an alternate arrangement to go on my trip but Enterprise should be absolutely ashamed of their terrible business model and practice. Absolutely ridiculous. First off when you walk in it looks like a car rental ran by a frat house. I've been in retail customer service for over 20 years and this location needs an adult.But upon making reservation I was told to bring my ID. I get their and they say I need two more forms of ID, fine I do so. Then One rep was helping me until I needed more verification that was never explained to me or I would have brought the extra documents I needed, so my original rep takes off and I'm left standing their until I could flag another rep down to help me finish my verification. Then we finally get to the vehicle and it's a mini van, not what I wanted higher gas milage. Whatever so I go to pay and it's 300 more then what I'm quoted. Thing is transparency is everything. Would have been a lot smoother if these things were told to you before you show up. I was forced to use Enterprise by my fleet department. Confirming a booking was a nightmare. I was given a local telephone number to confirm but when I dialed the number was sent to a call center. Recently I needed a rental car, due to my car being in a repair shop after the accident. My insurance uses Enterprise for their rentals. From the time I picked up the rental car to the time I dropped off the rental car, at the repair shop, Enterprise was very kind and accommodating. Take pictures of your rental car! These were part of the instruction from my company regarding rental cars and I'm so glad I did. I work for a university and needed a rental car for the day to travel to a college fair out of state. I was given a 2020 Toyota Camry, a bit disappointed it was called an "free upgrade" as a base model without GPS but nbd. The gentleman took me to the car and asked if I wanted extra insurance, I explained that my company does not require additional insurance but has asked me to take pictures of the car before I leave. As I took 5 photos the employee took the opportunity to mock what I was doing "don't forget the 2/3rd rule," "better hit all the points." It was uncomfortably but hey it's what my company recommended...and I'm so glad I did! The next day I returned the car early at about 3:00pm. I walked into the office to hand back the keys and the saleswoman told me to wait while she checked out the car. I've never had a rental company do this before but hey I figured they wanted to make sure I filled up the gas tank or something. She came back holding an IPad and showed me a picture of the car. There was a dent on the bottom part of the car on the drivers side and she accused me of causing the dent. Super surprised and taken aback by the accusation, I explained that I only drove the car to and from my event without any incidents. She did not take my word for it and then I remembered "wait I took pictures of the car before!" Luckily I had a photo of the drivers side, and there was a mark where this supposed "new dent" was located. After disagreeing with me for a few minutes the saleswomen went to her coworker who immediately looked at my photo and exclaimed "yeah that's the same dent." I was then given an, "oh sorry about that," from the saleswomen and simply asked if I wanted an email or printed copy of my receipt. So I'm giving enterprise one star for doing their basic job in giving me a car for the day, but with some many competitors in this market, customer service goes a long way. First, I was made to feel silly for taking pictures and then accused of denting the car. I will certainly be renting from another company next time and I will from now on always take pictures of the car before I leave the lot. I won't go so far to say that this was a malicious practice or "trap" but it is strange I've never experienced anything close to this when renting previously. read more

Horrible experience. I booked with Enterprise weeks in advance and spoke directly with the manager the day before I arrive for my reservation in which I told him what kind of car I would be looking for. He did not inform me that they would not have the car I wanted or that there would be nothing even similar. When I arrived, the branch was poorly staffed and the staff were less than apologetic. I waited 45 minutes before staff was able to take care of me. Once I selected a vehicle they told me the vehicle needed to be clean so I told them I would be back in an hour as a courtesy to them as they were poorly staffed. When I came back the vehicle hadn't been touched and they were waiting on customers who had come after me. Again they were less than apologetic and began to blame me the customer, for not arriving on time to begin with. I'm honestly disgusted with their service. read more

First they put you in a rental at the limit of what your insurance covers and don't tell you about the extra 20% in taxes (8% NYS, 12% rental car tax) on top of it that comes out of your pocket until the end when you can't do anything about it. Guess they make their money by scamming people like this. Dont give these people your card cause they'll put holds on your card and not tell you. At one point I had a $124, $134 and a $86 hold on my card without my permission or even being told. Then comes the ending charge of $221 that I wake up to and don't get told or asked if I approved in combination with these holds. So you do the math of how much money these people will tie up without telling you. I wanted to pay cash. Then when I ask for a receipt for what all these holds are for the employee talks in circles, doesn't give me a straight answer and tells me he can't give me any type of paperwork that shows when the above holds are being released or what the holds were for. Enterprise is a complete scam. Better ask all the questions before hand because they won't tell you. They'll just surprise you with card charges. read more

My experience with this business was one of the worst of my life. My vehicle broke down on the highway on Saturday night during my 5 hour trip from NJ to Upstate NY and had to be towed away. I made a rental reservation for a car here in Vestal and paid $100 for a taxi to get here. I was told that despite there being cars for rent on the web and me calling the the actual site making a reservation, this place had no cars awaiting for me today. After me explaining my situation to them, they found a pickup truck they offered to rent at very high price. I accepted anyway; however, they would not accept debit card under no circumstances. I have Master card but not on me. I was able to provide them with the information and even a picture of the card I had someone take at home. They wouldn't accept it that way. They offered no other payment solution, had no car for me, and were overall very rude. I currently am stranded at the location 50 miles away from my car; 300 miles away from home. They did not seem to care at all. This was by all means the worst customer service I have ever received in my entire life. I give them 1 star for trying to rent me an expensive pick up I gues. read more

If I wasn't forced to, I would not deal with this company at all. When we spoke to them we were told we would have a certain car. We went to pick it up and there was no such car available. We had to get something different. The car was filthy! The dashboard, floor and exterior were clean but the seats were so disgusting. Luckily we didn't have to put any passengers in the back seat. There was literally stuck on food there. They had no other car available in the price range that our insurance would cover. When we complained there was no action taken at all. Still there is no other car available and they will not have this thing cleaned. This is a great location, and has great customer service! We rent regularly from this enterprise location and the process is always smooth and enjoyable. This past weekend they went above and beyond- they were mobbed with renters and backed up significantly due to a shortage of cars that was out of their control. All the employees worked well past closing to make sure all the customers were served. We had booked a small car, as we were driving several hours away, but when it was finally our turn they only had a pickup truck and a huge SUV available. They offered us the SUV and waived the rental fee for our trouble (we had booked the small car ahead of time and had also been waiting awhile to be helped) Hannah, the manager, was calm under pressure and very helpful to everyone. read more

I called a day prior to needing my rental. I was told it would be ready for me the next morning. Upon arrival I was told they had no reservation for me and they don't do same day rentals. After much going back and forth as to why they couldn't help me they then offered to have a car for me 4 1/2 hours later. There were no apologies, no "lets see if we can figure something out for you," just repeatedly saying, "we don't have you." I believe that even though I called the physical building to rent, they seem to think their phone center did the job, which does not excuse their not having the reservation, or their lack of helpfulness. I actually saw a woman in front of me leave their establishment because they didn't have her car ready at the time they promised. She's been waiting awhile for it. I would NEVER recommend this car rental service. My insurance company cancelled the rental and sent me to Hertz, where I was treated well and immediately given a car. read more

After a horrific day of disastrous travel and delayed flights attempting to return home in NY from MI, we chose a flight into Binghampton, NY with a rental car reserved via Orbitz with Hertz with the intention of driving back to our cars parked at Newark. After sitting in the airport for several hours, we finally arrived late into Binghampton only to discover that Hertz did not have any available vehicles, nor were they particularly helpful or concerned. We were literally stranded 3+ hours from home on a Sunday when everything is closed or unavailable. We desperately reached out to Enterprise to see if they had any cars. Bre gave us the bad news that they were also out, but she took our number just in case. Not 10 minutes later, she called us back with a last-minute cancellation and stayed well after her shift to wait for us to take a cab to her office from the airport. Her support and kindness was beyond appreciated during a harrowing day of everything going wrong for us. She truly saved our day and we are extremely grateful for her and her services.
