The Waterbury Enterprise location is great. The employees on the day of pick-up were exhibiting great patience and friendliness. I had to wait for the van I was renting to be returned and cleaned, so I witnessed a number of other customers' transactions and was impressed at how calm and patient the employees were with everyone during a very busy time. I respected the way they interacted with a customer returning a damaged vehicle and another customer whose rental choice was unavailable. The van I rented was clean, had great gas mileage, and was comfortable. The process of picking up the van and getting additional insurance coverage was easy and booking through Costco Travel was simple and user-friendly. I received a call from the location on the morning of our return confirming we would be dropping off that day. Returning the van was also great-- the employee was training a new employee and they did a thorough check of the van before confirming final details and sending me a receipt. Worth the read and yes, unbelievable but true. Needed a car asap due to unexpected family death traveling from CT to OH for services and to help with probate, etc. The offender of the Waterbury branch is Alex Broecker (branch MANAGER) who was most unfortunately TRAINING Matthew DeFazio at the time. I was never allowed to speak with Kyle Kanoble (spelling?) so I cannot speak to his capabilities at the Waterbury office. Go to my local in Torrington, nothing available, he goes above and beyond to text two other locations (Waterbury and Naugatuck), both have a car in stock. I foolishly chose Waterbury. Torrington guy (don't know name) sets reservation for 3:15 with Kyle. I walk in their door at 3:17 (I know because I was nervous I was late and checked the time). Nobody in office, employees walk in and out, no acknowledgment to any of us waiting. First person to help comes out at 3:38 and starts joking about how he's not the only employee and he swears his coworkers are somewhere. I let him know that he was the first face at the counter for 21 minutes. No apologies, just says verbatim "That's not my fault, I was in a meeting." Ok... I let him know I'm from the Torrington office and ask for Kyle who my reservation was made with. He refuses to get him and says I'll take care of it and proceeds to begin to make a new reservation and I remind him that Torrington should have entered it all. He finds it and verifies it. Says he's sorry that Torrington couldn't help and asked if my car was being worked on. I said "No, we have to go to an unexpected funeral in Ohio." No joke, verbatim says "Oh that's cool, well I'm glad we could help you out instead." Admittedly, I'm sure my face looked taken aback and confused at that response. He then asks for the second address verification paperwork in which we brought an Eversource bill. I had asked Torrington (they forewarned me that I would need it) and they said any official mailing communication from utility company, bank statement, or something else would suffice. I bring an Eversource bill. It is an old late bill (I'm currently paid up - this weirdly matters). Still has the billing info, usage, account, amount due, etc and at the top says that it's late and can result in shut off. He tells me "this isn't a bill." I admittedly say "No, this is a bill, it's just a late remittance bill with all the same info." He then claims that he needs an up to date bill to verify we are in good financial standing with Eversource. I definitely questioned that. I asked "isn't this for address verification? Why do you need to see my current billing status?" He argues back, I need the car, I reluctantly agree and ask if I can show him a current bill in my email. He says that's fine. I pull up my email WITH THE BILL IMAGE IN THE EMAIL. He says "you need to log in so I can verify you have a zero balance." WHAT?! I'm not happy, but I comply and I flip the phone to show him my logged in Eversource account to which HE TAKES THE PHONE OUT OF MY HANDS TO SCROLL THROUGH MY BILLING INFORMATION. I said "Sure, you can have my phone, you can see my last payment and that it was made 9 days ago." He looks at me, puts my phone on the counter and says, again, verbatim, "Wow just wow, I don't feel like doing this. I'm not helping you anymore. We won't be renting you a vehicle today." I am like are you kidding?! I attempt to apologize if I offended him but at that point, my wife snapped (rightfully so), and we just left. I then went to Naugatuck office and was in and out within 10 minutes WITH THE SAME BILL AND ADDRESS VERIFICATION PAPERWORK. I have since spoken to corporate where they verified FINANCIAL STANDINGS WITH UTILITY COMPANIES should not be requested at ANY LOCATION and that forcing me to log into my account was absolutely against policy. Corporate said they will be taking immediate action. I will update with what that is. I am also speaking to the ACLU as I am an obviously gay woman and was there with my wife in which this all seemed to escalate when I referred to her as "babe." read more

Over the last 16 years, I've rented through Enterprise nearly 200 total days. Because of my experience with this branch, I will never use this company again. A went to pick up my rental on Thursday but when inspecting the truck, I noticed someone clearly smoked weed and cigarettes in it. The term the manager used was "smoked out." Because I will be driving it with my kids, I refused it. The manager agreed with refusing it and said he would get me a vehicle the following day. So come Friday, I spoke with the same manager and he explained that they had no vehicles and probably won't for nearly a week. Then he continued to tell me that it's my fault since I refused the vehicle that was smoked out. When asking if they could transfer a vehicle from within his district, he explained that he could but it was a lot of work and he didn't have time to do it. So without my authorization or knowledge, he canceled my reservation as he continued to tell me that I shouldn't have complained and have taken the smoked out truck. Because of this situation, I will never use Enterprise again and will advise anyone that I can not to. I've reached out to corporate and area managers about this but have fallen on deaf ears. read more

Loved working with this place. At check-in we were taken care of a wonderful young lady who was leaving on vacation in a few days to go to San Antonio. We are from San Antonio so we told a bunch of places to see if she had time. The car we got was clean and well taken care of. On drop-off we had a bit of an issue but it was immediately taken care to my satisfaction. So all in all, I highly recomend and will definately use again. read more

We made arrangements for months to pick up a van for our trip. Nothing special just a van to travel. Everything was set and ready. Only one problem, they called my brother to tell hi the van we rented was in a accident and could not be used. So what could we do? The wonderful team at "Enterprise" came through. Melissa explained to us that they had no vans available. Melissa offered us a Suburban for twenty percent cheaper with unlimited mileage. Yes please! A true upgrade with no added fees. Nice! Well I'm sad to say that it has been over a month since I submitted my complaint to Enterprise and as I mentioned in my earlier complaint, they never responded again. So, in conclusion, I would highly recommend using another Company for your rental needs. This company is quite disappointing to say the absolute least. And even though the company responded to my bad review on Yelp almost immediately - they continue to ignore the emails and phone messages I have left over the past several months. I will never recommend this service to anyone I know and I hope this review helps others to make a better decision than I did. read more

Very disappointed with the customer service at this branch. I was in a car accident and was provided a car by Enterprise from my insurance. The pick up was very easy. All the insurance information was available and terms and conditions were clearly explained. The problems came a few days later. I received a phone call from an associate at this branch that they had received word from the garage and my insurance company that my car was a total loss and if I was interested in buying a car, they have an amazing selection... blah blah blah. In sheer panic, I phone the garage and ask how my car is doing. They told me everything was going as planned and would be available for pick up in a few more days. After breathing a heavy sigh of relief, I explain what had just happened from Enterprise. The associate at the garage was just as floored as I was. She told me she would call Enterprise and tell them they can't do that. I later called the branch myself to tell the associate that my car was okay, and rather than apologize, she told me that they were notified, so she was just doing her job. Then she still tried to sell me a car. Several days later, I was told by my garage my car would be ready for pick up that day. On my way to pick up my car, I received ANOTHER phone call from an associate at Enterprise that my car was a total loss and they would be happy to sell me one of theirs. I missed the call, but I was left a very detailed message. At this point, I called back and said my car was not totaled, stop calling. Once i got home with my FULLY REPAIRED VEHICLE, I got a third phone call for a sales associate at the Enterprise in Hartford, that my information was forwarded to him because I was in need of a new car. WHAT!!?? I let the poor guy have it. He was jus going on a message from THE WATERBURY BRANCH that I was in need of a vehicle. He couldn't have been nicer or more apologetic. He also said he would contact the branch to make sure this kind of thing didn't go on. But please, stop lying to and harassing people. That's seriously screwed up, guys. read more

Twice I reserved a car from them and they tell me they have no cars available for me when I get there mind you they have 10 cars on their lot and another 15 more on the other side of the building. Then I'm told next time to reserve weeks in advance! WTH! It's a waste of time dealing with them. I called another car rental company and got the same price for the same size car that same day. Fantastic service, attention to detail, pick up and drop off service. Everyone here is doing their best to take good care of everyone, while mindfully processing transactions as efficiently as possible. I was travelling from NYC to visit Simsbury, CT and Waterbury seemed like as good a place as any to pick up a car. So glad I did. The folks provided lovely bookends to my escape. Should you be catching a Metro North line to escape the city and need a car to reach your final destination, I'd highly recommend this location. Also, good to call ahead and let them know your train time. I was very impressed to get a call the morning I was travelling just to check on my status and confirm all was on time with the train. 5 star service. read more

Exemplary service at this Enterprise location, although we're biased toward this company to begin with. We always get better prices and find service to be a high priority at Enterprise*. I'm surprised to see a couple complaints, because we've rented from Enterprise several times and always found the service and vehicles to be excellent. This time again, we were In and out quickly and the car was very clean. Even the advice about where to grab lunch in Waterbury was great. This location was perfect for us to rent a second car for a long weekend with family, since they have after-hours (Sunday) drop-off and it's very close to both I84 and Rte 8. BEWARE check every inch of the car I did walk around with employee when I picked up the car she documented the scratches on side don't recall her looking at hood. brought back and they said there were scratches on hood not documented. employee said we will put a claim into our insurance because you know we have to fix all before we sell the car. I'm so tempted to write out all the details of our horrific, unprofessional, disorganized trip to Enterprise in Waterbury, but there is just way too much to write here. Basically, we reserved a full size sedan ONE MONTH in advance for our vacation. When we went to pick up the sedan at our scheduled time, the staff told us they didn't receive their shipment of sedans from the airport that morning and that they had none left for us. We then looked outside, and saw a man driving away in a blue Ford Fusion, the EXACT sedan we had reserved for one month. The man who drove away in this car was a WALK IN, and the staff allowed him to take the only sedan on the lot...which was supposed to be reserved. We were then forced to rent a SUV, which we waited 45 minutes for, because they were "fixing the cracked windshield". The staff told us we'd get a "free upgrade" from a full sized sedan to a SUV. Well, I'd f***ing hope you wouldn't expect us to pay for that. We were quoted our price and made SURE we wouldn't be charged extra for the SUV. We were assured we wouldn't. We thought - they couldn't possibly mess this up again and try to charge us more money. As we went out to check the car after nearly an hour of waiting, the man who was having us sign our names said "sign here for your price of _______". Which was $100 more than we were quoted at. My bf and I nearly had a fit at this point. We went inside and spoke to the manager, who brought the price back down to our original quote, after hearing how frustrated we were. Thanks dude, but after all of this crap, we're still not impressed. This was the most frustrating experience we've ever had. We spent nearly 2 hours at enterprise when we had planned to spend a half hour tops. All I got from that visit was that Enterprise as a company is a huge rip off, and the Waterbury store is completely disorganized. I've never had an issue with Enterprise before this, but this experience was enough to make me never want to do business with them again. read more
