Since it was cold in January, the refrigerant "fail" could have been caused by a malfunctioning part and NOT a LEAK. I was quoted a RIDICULOUSLY HIGH $1,200 for a Dye Leak search (plus $380 for a refrigerant recharge and balance). [To exacerbate what I believe is dishonest business practices, they quoted me $626 for a Surge Protector (Condenser Only) and $1,170 for the Condenser and Air Handler!! The problem is I have a WHOLE HOUSE surge protector that I paid about $100 and had a handyman install in less than 15 minutes!! The surge protector is visible when looking at my outside electric meter...hooked up on the bottom of the electric panel.] When Florida Breeze came out in Feb., they indicated because it was too cold, any testing on my Variable Speed Heat Pump unit could be tricked/influenced by the weather and provide a misdiagnosis. When Florida Breeze tested on April 2nd, they determined there was a defective part that was preventing the refrigerant from flowing through the unit. They ordered the part. (They also said it would be less than $500 for a dye leak search and refrigerant.)

They came out a few months back and supposedly fixed the roof but the exact same leak is occurring. The company claims to guarantee labor for 10 years; however, we have been struggling to get the company to come back and fix the roof. They repeatedly lie about their intention to come and then don't show up and don't even bother to call to let us know they are not coming. Update: Top Roofing Solutions indicated that our problem was so severe that we would need to redo the entire roof and would be better off with another company. I filed a complaint with the BBB and they ruled in my favor (feel free to look it up.) Also, I obviously still had the leaky roof so I tried a couple of other roofing companies in Irving and they both gave the same diagnosis. We paid one of the companies less than half of what Top Roofing originally charged us and, after a few intense Texas thunder storms, I can confidently say that the other company was able to solve the problem--no more leaks! Unfortunately, Top Roofing has been an exemplary case of incompetence and dishonesty.

They didn't install the ridge venting all the way to the edge and something else was installed upside down, requiring them to come back twice several weeks after the install. We also had someone on the roof to install a vent for a water heater and he noted severe rotting under our three dormers that should have been taken care of with the roof. We ended up fixing these ourselves. No, I wouldn't recommend them because they didn't complete the job to our satisfaction. Does anyone care about giving the customer good service anymore?
