I found Emma's Alterations through a bit of research and a friend who had heard that she was good…read more I had ordered a dress from Spain for a black tie wedding and when it came, it looked ridiculous on me. It was not easy to do a return with the tariff so I brought it to Emma to ask her opinion. It was a very complicated project, and the work that she did to transform the dress into something exactly right was just amazing. She had to take the entire dress apart, make a new bodice and waistline and remove a lot of of the fabric and padding. She was a pleasure to work with and took her time, with various fittings and different options for me to choose. And her work was impeccable. Emma is not just a seamstress, she has the eye and skill of an artist and artisan. It fit perfectly, was beautifully sewn, and honestly felt like a couture gown. Every part of it fit perfectly - she essentially made me an entirely new dress. And did not overcharge at all, in fact the opposite. I wore the dress last weekend to the wedding and have never gotten so many compliments on anything I have worn. I can't recommend Emma's Alterations more highly.
