We finally went here and I like it more than I expected to. No shade to them, but as a vegetarian I wasn't expecting much. I got the artichoke Caprese sandwich, my sweetie got the Italian. Both were bigger than we also expected. The sandwiches are pricey, yes, but you also get the value that you paid for. The markup on the drinks and chips are heavy, but what can you do. The biggest negative is the parking. Enzo's is definitely in the cut, and is probably more so gearex to service USC students and staff. I met my sweetie there for lunch and while I found a spot, she had to park two blocks away. They do however have good signage showing you hot to get there. You know the food is good when no one is talking as they are eating. We got 3 subs; the Rico, the Stephen and the Italian. Everyone raved about their subs! Was in town for my Son to graduate basic training, celebrate family day knowing we all would be stuck on base I researched ahead of time for the best Italian subs. I'm soo glad we found Enzos! Walked in and asked the gentlemen (forget his name sorry) to make us the 4 best cold and 1 hot subs they made and they were made in less than 15 minutes. As a first time experience, it wasn't a bad one. My sandwich was pretty tasty. I ordered The Stephen while my colleagues ordered the Italian. The Stephan, which is hot sandwich since they offer hot and cold options, has arugula versus regular iceberg lettuce which is always a plus for me. The bread was not too hard, not too soft; a good soft crunch. My chicken cutlets were seasoned and fried well. Juicy, not dry chicken breast at all! My sandwich also included provolone cheese and roasted red peppers. The vinaigrette that was paired with the ingredients paired well together. SN: The owner is certified Italian from up north sooooo no, you can't get your sandwich the non-Italian sub sandwich way so no, don't ask to get your bread toasted or anything like that lol I actually appreciate the authenticity and if you want those condiments on your sub sandwich, do it at home. We came to Enzos after a hike on the way back home to Charlotte. We were about to give up as parking was hard to come by - street parking. We ended up having to park and walk over from a different street. So just note it can get tricky at prime times. We got the Lesley (prosciutto, mozzarella, roasted red peppers, and pesto) and the Italian. Both were wonderful and full of flavor. You may think prices are high at $12-14 per sandwich, but they are large! We did not finish them in one sitting. Plus they are STUFFED full of meats and cheeses. Enzos is the go to place in Columbia for great cold cut sandwiches. The quality is consistently great as is the service. On my most recent visit I got the Italian and The Emilio and both were delicious. The Italian contains classic Italian cold cuts, provolone, lettuce, tomato and olive & vinegar, while The Emilio contains soppresata, ham, Genoa salami, fresh mozzarella, lettuce and hot peppers. Where to begin. First of all, I am an Italian girl from New Jersey, and this place just brought me back home. This sandwich (The Stephen) was on point! Chicken cutlet was golden brown and absolutely juicy, roasted peppers, provolone cheese and a balsamic glaze that just barely soaks through and makes the bread just a smidge soggy (which is what you want). And that bread though! Perfect crispy outside, chewy inside. I really couldn't have been happier. This place would make my grandma proud. Also love the assortment of specialty groceries inside. Can't find good prosciutto just anywhere! No indoor dining, but a few comfy outdoor seats on a pretty day. Really looking forward to bringing my husband here. He's gonna lose it! Our lunch group went here for the first time today. Had about seven of us. Great deli. I ordered the Italian sandwich. Huge sandwich, loaded with a lot of meat, cheese, and the bread was excellent. I had them put on the hot giardiniera and it was great...really nice and spicy. Every one of the guys liked their sandwiches and remarked on how good the bread was, how much meat was on the sandwiches. Most of us had chips and a soft drink and sat outside. They have about 5 or 6 wrought iron tables with chairs. We placed our order and they brought them out to the table. Pretty fast service with just two people running the place. We all brought half our sandwiches home since they were so large! Great place....glad we discovered this...and I'll be going back. read more

I am always fascinated that Grinders/Hero's/Wedges aren't popular down south. More importantly, I always wondered why Chicken Parm isn't as popular down south as it is up north in places like Boston/NYC/Connecticut. I mean, Southerners like pasta relatively speaking and love fried chicken. Never understood why they don't blow up down here. It's really awesome this place is in Cola. I love it. I love NYC/Boston food (you go up there and it's pizza/parm/grinders on every block) and I'm really glad Columbia got a NYC style deli. So yes, the review. Rant over and pinch me...the city I live in has a legit place to get Italian style subs. This place is outdoor seating only because it also doubles as a NYC style Italian grocery store. It's also very small inside, like a NYC style Italian grocery store would be. They're authentic game is on point. I got the chicken parm sub/grinder/wedge/hero/whatever you want to call it and it was amazing. For $12 they pile on the toppings and use fresh ingredients. They don't skimp on anything. It's perfect. I've had chicken parm subs before around the south, but they always use frozen chicken or grilled chicken (which isn't authentic for chicken parm). These are also massive and heavy. My wife got the meatball sub and she said it was by far the best she's ever had. Absolutely recommend to anyone in Columbia. This is the real deal and not an impersonation. There are many reasons I'm not a vegetarian, but one of the primary reasons is Italian dried meats. I love them. An Italian hoagie would be up there for consideration for death row last meal. Having said that, the second I heard about an Italian sandwich shop, I went running. Enzo's has a great menu. From a traditional Italian sandwich to an artichoke Caprese sandwich I want to try everything on the menu. My wife got the Italian and I had the Emelio. Both were great. I wanted to try them the way they made them before making changes to the sandwich. Both sandwiches were delicious, but in the future, I'll ask for tomato and mustard on mine. First try today a little disappointing. This is basically a to go place with no tables inside but 2 or 3 outside which were unused. I definitely didn't expect. There is a separate room next door which opens at 6? with wine etc. We ordered the Tina which was ok and the chicken with vodka sauce sub which was pretty good but just a piece of chicken with cheese and sauce on it. A complaint I have (which to go people don't care about) is they have no cups or ice for your drink. Mine was mildly cool and needed ice as it warmed up quickly. Other sub pictures looked pretty good but the cashier said the chicken I had was the most ordered sub. If they change a little, I will be back. read more

OMG - the sandwiches here are phenomenal! I had the Italian (spicy) and a Pellegrino water. The sandwich is so big I took half home for lunch the next day. There must be a pound of meat with fresh mozzarella and peppers. Next time I'll share with my son. I've been meaning to try this place and one day the perfect opportunity presented itself. I had an idea of what I wanted to order and my lunch companion wanted The Gigi. When I saw how big the breads were I decided we had to share. Because this thing was huge. Massive. It was very good. The only thing keeping me from giving it a 5 star review was the bread. Everything in the sandwich was perfection. The bread was not. I mean, Which Wich's bread is better which I found shocking! Still next time I'm in that area I'll probably make sure I go hungry and try more of their sandwiches. read more
