LOVE it here. They book out quick so I have to remember to make a reservation in advance. They are somewhat pricey for smaller portions, but they are filling - I have never left hungry. I used to loveee this restaurant. But this was such a disappointing experience. Pizza was so undercooked which surprised me, but hey it happens. I've worked in this industry long enough to know we all make mistakes here and there. The chicken in the chicken Marsala was so tough to cut through and so dry and the sauce was not...marsala. The Tortellini stefana had zero salt and depth. Doesn't taste like tomatoes or butter even made it into the sauce. I was hoping dessert would recover the meal. I thought, "Well at least nothing could go wrong with the Tiramisu." I was so wrong. We got a cup of whipped cream. There were no lady fingers whatsoever. It was a cup of cream, with presumably, a dusting of coco powder on top. A cup. Of. Cream. I thought I was being pranked. This was definitely not worth the $80 we spent here. I came and brought a guest who had never enjoyed a meal here before and was experiencing this food for the first time. We've had better cafeteria food. We had reservations for after our daughter's graduation. Brought multiple generations of the family. When we showed up we were told they lost our reservations. We showed them the email confirming our reservations, and they reluctantly agreed to seat us. They kept pushing us out the door. The service was rude and unwelcoming. This place left me with mixed feelings hence the 3 star review. To start with the positive: the place is incredibly cute, it has a very "cute Italian town" vibe. Our server was very sweet and attentive and tried her best. The food was pretty middle of the road, nothing to write home about. Bread was nice, pasta sauce wasn't anything special. The negative: we were a party of 5 seated at the patio. The hostess claims she put down our reservation for 4, my husband swears he said 5; I'm going to chalk it up to a miscommunication. The patio was pretty much empty; with clearly several vacant tables that stayed vacant the entire time we were there. But the hostess didn't want to seat us at a larger table, and we were just about crammed eating on that miniscule table that was designed for 2 people. Our ROMEO group went for lunch today...had seven of us. Waitress took our drink orders and then came back to get our entrees. We had two orders for the Quattro Stagioni Pizza, one calbrese pissa, two Giorgione Italiano Sandwiches, one Parpadelle alla Papalina, one Caesar Salad with chicken, It took a while to get our order but the general consensus on the food was very good. Overall the guys ratings were 4.0 (3), 4.5 (2), 3.5 and a 5. Average of 4.21. I ordered the Calabrese Pizza..it has the spicy salami and it was very good. I think I liked it better than pepperoni. Pizza crust is very thin, nice and crisp....cheese and sauce were good. I've had the Quattro Stagioni and it is excellent. Both guys that ordered it were looking to get the egg runny, sunny side up. Both of the pizzas had the egg close to being totally cooked. They would prefer it if the egg yolk was soft and allow you to mix it around the top of the pizza similar to what the real lItalian restaurants do in major cities. The Parpadelle alla Papalina looked great. I asked the waitress what her favorite pasta dish was and she picked that one. I'll have to go back some evening and try it. I think both guys that had the Giorgione Italiano sandwich were giving it a 4.0.....very good, but not great. One complaint was the time it took to take our orders and get the food. read more

Our lunch at Il Giorgione was delicious! Previously we had just gone for their delicious pizzas but this day we rested their fabulous pasta dishes. I grew up in a Sicilian family and I don't order pasta unless I'm pretty sure it will be at least "average-". I was happily surprised by the variety of dishes on the menu and blown away by the delicate sauces -many of the choices you don't see on many menus. Every order was perfect. I like this place and it was busy as it is restaurant week. They also offer vegetarian options for all courses. The special entree of feta & spinach canaloni was just great. Whether it's your local favorite or you have been eager to try, be sure to stop in, by the 22nd as they will be closed thereafter through the 12th. Pies range from $10-$13 which was a steal in light of the quality of the pies. The crust is paper thin yet has a wonderful taste and not drenched in oil. While I typically prefer a few more toppings more would have piled down the pie. I found both the Emiliana and Toscana to be quite flavorful but left wishing we had ordered 1 pie and an entree as pie alone was a bit too light for dinner. read more

My husband and I have passed this little spot for months and decided we had to try it! We thought it was a small, hole in the wall pizza place. We arrived right around 530 pm to be told the restaurant was completed booked inside until 8:30 for 2 (on a Tuesday night in winter). Of note, it looked at least 70% empty. We were absolutely underdressed- it turned out this was actually a fancier spot with lots of Italian food options. We agreed to sit outside, where they had some standing heaters (not on) and offered us blankets. We were seen quickly, and the server was kind. I shared a Caesar salad with my husband, which was a decent size and had house-made croutons. I went with the carbonara for dinner which was excellent! Rich, decadent, and with crispy bits of meat to break up the pasta. My only complaint is that the pasta was slightly undercooked for my taste. A hair more chewy than Al dente. That being said, I know we will be coming back and I can't wait to try the rest of the menu. read more

This was our first time eating at il Giorgione and we loved it. Our reservation was for 630 and upon arriving at 620, we were greeted and sat immediately. Our waitress (Heather) greeted us very quickly with water and took our drink orders. Heather was excellent with explaining things and offerings specials for the night. We ordered 2 appetizers (which were great) and ordered one of the specials for the night. Everything was really good and we enjoyed our drinks, the food, the pace, the staff, and meeting the owner (Kevin), whom came and checked on us and our meals. Dessert was wonderful and we just enjoyed everything. With multiple drinks, appetizers, meal, and desserts, our total bill for our visit was $204 for the 3 of us. The El Dorado and Tortelloni alla Panna are two of my favorite pasta dishes of all time and I'm from New Jersey. The Tortelloni alla Panna is a sweet cream sauce with nutmeg on top and the El Dorado is a spicy sauce. The service is pretty good however we had to ask for bread to be brought to our table when it's complimentary. Also the pizza is decent but I would definelty go for the pasta. Il Giorgione is definitely my favorite italian restaurant in Columbia. Their pasta dishes never disappoint me, this time I got the rigatoni al dorato and I loved it. It's a small, quaint restaurant so I would definitely recommend a reservation. They offer valet parking since parking is limited on Devine street. The service is excellent and the waitress we had was very helpful and knowledgable on the wine list. The only things I wish I could change is the portions for some of the pasta dishes are on the smaller side (someone in my party ordered the tortellini and there was only about 10 pieces). Also, the appetizer menu is very very limited, and ordering additional bread is a $2 up charge (however the focaccia bread is amazing so it's worth it). If they could expand their menu and get some new appetizers, and just have a little more generous portions for the price, it would be a 10/10. First time visit to Il Giorgione, and in a word--mixed bag. Although, we had planned to eat here for about a week and a half, I overlooked making reservations mistakenly thinking , "ah, this sounds like a casual place, none needed." So when I finally realized my error, I called them the the day of our planned outing. Sorry, no table inside, patio seating only. So, we started out in the patio but before long all kinds of flying insects wanted to join our party. Our server, who was very nice and accommodating, asked us if we wanted to sit at the bar. We jumped at the chance and before long the bartender set us up with our drinks--Aperol Spritzes and some glasses of house wines. We stared out with pizza for our first course (the menu is organized in true Italian fashion--antipasto, secondi [meat], pasta, insalata e zuppa [salad and soup], and dolce--dessert). The pizza was interesting: thin, chewy crust, olive oil, shaved conciato cheese (I think), and arugula. We enjoyed it. My wife opted to drink her dinner while our friends and I ordered pasta dishes. I jumped at the gnocchi pasta in a cream sauce accented with prosciutto and chanterelle mushrooms. Perhaps the best gnocchi dish I've eaten. The little pillows of soft potato enriched dough were super tender...a real winner. Our friends had the Rigatoni al Dorato, and a spaghetti dish with shrimp. While our dinner kind of got off to a shaky start, partly my fault, Il Giorione is a good Italian restaurant with excellent service, some well know traditional Italian dishes--such as Cacio e Pepe', pasta carbonara, tiramisu, and panne cotta, and a pleasant ambiance. A few things went wrong with our overall experience, but all things worked out in end. Note: Parking is a challenge. The lot behind the restaurant is tight and small, so plan accordingly. read more

We had lunch here yesterday and were really impressed with the menu. We split the Quattro Stagioni Pizza and also the Giorgione Salad. The pizza was very good. It was great to see an Italian restaurant offering the Quattro Stagioni pizza...this was our favorite pizza from one of Chicago's better restaurants. The egg, however, was cooked hard in the center of the pizza. We were used to the pizza coming to your table with a "sunny side up{ egg, and the waiter would spread the yolk out over the hot pizza with forks, or spoons. Here the egg was basically just a fried egg, and wasn't as good. Donn't get me wrong, the pizza with the four toppings was great. The crust was thin and crisp....one of the better crusts we've had. I think they were using Castlevetrano olives on the pizza, which are great. Bottom line is we loved the pizza...but if the egg was a little bit of a disappointment compared to what we were used to. The Giorgione salad was excellent. We look forward to going back for dinner as they have a great selection of pasta dishes. They also have a good variety of sandwiches for lunch. Will have to bring our lunch group here to try out their sandwiches. Service was great, very attentive and friendly waitress. First time at Il Giorgione and we went 5:00 ish on a Friday which was perfect time for a nice quiet dinner. Loved the happy hour deals and our server was so helpful. With it being Good Friday, the perfect option was the Tortelloni, although I had been eyeing the Rigatoni. Went here for date night. We sat outside which was perfect and felt super romantic with the lighting. Service was average in my mind, our waiter seemed very busy that night. The burrata was incredible and they make it in house! Highly recommend. The pizza however was very disappointing. The crust is thin, dry and not chewy which is not my preference. We were visiting Columbia with family and decided to book an early dinner before our concert. The space and atmosphere was OK. We started with the house bread served with olive oil and balsamic. It was slightly warm, which was nice, but the slice was no where close to a wow. Alone, it was bleh, dunked in the oil it enriched it enough to deliver a decent crusty bite. Our party of four decided to go the pasta route. Some dishes sampled included the pappardelle alla papalina (egg pasta w/ prosciutto, peas and parm in a creamy white sauce), Pollo Marsala (the ubiquitous dish with chicken, mushrooms and wine over pasta), and the Spaghetti alla carbonara (butter, egg, guanciale, pecorino and black pepper). All the dishes were well received and enjoyed. But nothing was a knockout. I very much appreciated that my spaghetti was fresh as that is my favorite type of noodle. I also liked that the chef stayed close to a classically prepared Carbonara. The guanciale (cured pork cheek not smoked) was rich and contributed a nice salty kick, the pepper was front and center but didn't overwhelm the dish. My cousin loved her preparation with peas and prosciutto but was saddened as she asked the server if the chef could add lots of sautéed mushrooms to her dish but she only received a sprinkling. My husband enjoyed his chicken Marsala but claimed it was nothing special. Service was fine, friendly and accommodating and meal prices were reasonable. We enjoyed our time here. If I was really craving pasta, I would return when and if we are in Columbia again. read more

Nice dinner last Saturday night with our neighbors. They were regulars here and turned us onto this iL Giorgione Italian restaurant. Small and packed and busy! We tried to go a month ago with them but we couldn't get reservations five days in advance. So we booked our reservation 10 days in advance! Appetizer was good. I think it was the salami board (with all kinds of things in it besides salami). I got the special which was the chicken ravioli. Our server assured us the raviolis are made in house. See the picture of my dish. It was very good. My wife got some rotini dish (amatriciana) which was really good and on the spicy side which she said she would definitely order again. Our neighbors liked their appetizer and main dishes (obviously). One thing bothersome, they brought out our main dishes within minutes after we had started in on our appetizers. What a sumptuous Italian spot. We arrived around 5 pm without a reservation on a Saturday. Even though the place was empty, we had to pick a seat at the bar or outdoors. I LOVE outdoor seating, so it was an easy decision. However, if you want indoor table service, I recommend making a reservation in advance. The only downside was the amount of flies. It made it hard for me to enjoy food because I was constantly batting away the swarms of buzzers. The food was authentic and fresh! I left craving more and wanting to return. There was a good mixture of meat, vegetable, pasta, and anti-pasta. They even had pizza and desserts to choose from. I can not wait to return and check out the other offerings on the menu. read more

I have a feeling I've been here before, but then forgot about this place. I went for a late lunch. I craving pasta with a robust red sauce and this fit the bill. I did ask them to add some crushed red pepper and it was the perfect amount to give it a little kick without inducing heartburn. It was wonderful. The pasta was obviously fresh made, though not as wide as other tagliatelle pasta I've had. Nevertheless the pasta held onto the sauce the way a great noodle should. I'm notorious for always having leftovers but I cleaned my plate. I had room for dessert, but I'm not a sweets person. This dish is $13 and very worth it. I'll definitely be back to try their pizza.
