The program is accredited, which is great. Dr. Suhad is an amazing professor. She is down to earth and just brilliant. I couldn't imagine learning about sonography from anyone else. Melissa, my clinical coordinator, is very encouraging and I appreciate all of her help during my clinicals. I want to be 100% transparent about my time here at SUI so I will also speak about some things that can be improved on. I believe that better communication and full transparency will take this program to the next level. I think that the amazing staff, like Dr. Suhad and Melissa, are taking on a lot of responsibility and if their burden was shared with possibly more staff, the program would be so much more amazing. My instructor Paul Labowitz was incredible and the company made the poor decision to let him go as a teacher because he wouldn't pass people who didn't do the work in class. I had to find my own externship because of how poorly managed the placement system is I refused to wait months for an unpaid trial run with no rehire guarantee. CalRegional provides no real support for job placement and months out I'm still struggling to even get an interview. This is from another comment but I'm pasting it because everyone should know this- I wish I did I wouldn't have gone here. "However I NEED to point out the fact that they certify you through AMCA. While it IS nationally accredited, your certification will NOT I repeat NOT!!!!!! hold the same weight as someone who went to an AAMA program and received a CMA title. Even people who have gone through the NHA program will have a better accreditation. Your MA certification even though we work JUST as hard will be the equivalent to a GED vs a HS Diploma in the eyes of MANY employers for whatever reason. This WILL affect your pay. It WILL affect you ability to get a job." This couldn't be more true I've been outright told by local employers they won't hire from CalRegional graduates, this program took 3k from me and functionally screwed me over. She goes very fast paced and does not take time to explain anything. She goes by the book and doesn't explain how things really work in the real world. And she comes off as a very, very rude. She doesn't like it when people ask questions because it interrupts her teaching. She will give lecture all day long and then assign an exam at 10 PM at night after being in school all day and she won't let you know that there's an exam until the end of the day. Now working in the field as a CNA there is so much that I did not learn and I absolutely blame the school for not having me prepared.

The essay is required to complete/pass the class. She refused to grade my essay regardless of the fact that I followed the rubric, and had citations from the required and scholarly sources directly supporting my thesis. She refused to grade my essay because she personally disagreed with my thesis. Please DO NOT waste your time with this college unless your goal is to become a cosmetologist or hair stylist. The classes are not tranferable to an accredited community, or state college, and are certainly not transferable to a UC.

Not even a month into it and I was regretting and dragging my feet to in everyday. My 1st instructor taught use more about his personal life then the actual subject. Didnt follow the way he was supposed to teach us whiched caused a big issue for those who were going to go into the next class. He passed everyone regardless. Had a motor project and passed us all even though none of us got the motor to work. He didnt really even try to get it running. You don't learn in the traditional way. You don't learn from A-Z. They will throw you in wherever the class is currently at. So you maybe learning the very end of the book before you even learn the beginning of the book which is bad if you are completely new to the subject and don't have any knowledge or experience. You don't jump into HVAC right away which is normal. You'll be doing electrical theory but my instructor didn't even go over HVAC electrical. I was learning more how to be an electrician then HVAC technician. Once I got into HVAC I was told in was going to take my certification test at the end of that month. Which is beyond stupid. They gave me a study packet to help prepare me for the test. By the time I had to take the test I failed of course but wasnt worried. Was told i had 3 attempts to take the test. The very next day after I took the 1st test i was told to take it again, and again I failed. The day after the 2nd test I was told to take it again and use the study packet because the head of the campus wants us to pass. Probably to give him a bonus or something like that. Well I'm not going to pay them to cheat on my future. I tried to talk them but the head of the campus "wasn't in today". I tired to call and kept going in to talk to him about why they wanted me to cheat. But kept getting the same response. I called them and told them I was dropping out because the cheating was the last straw. Then it seemed like they actually cared about my problem. I finally got calls back from the school and told them why I was leaving but the lady seemed not to really be paying attention and wanted me to go in and sit down with the head of the campus. I wasn't going to waste my time with them anymore. Said in was going to go in but didn't. I told them about it and they didn't seem to care until I left.

Id like to start off by saying 4 months ago when i first stepped in this school i was extremely…read morenervous of attending this school. I had zero knowledge of how to work with electricity. Today im 4 months in on a 6 month course. We have done so much safety and precautions in order to make sure all students are safe. We have wired so many labs. I feel we have done so many labs that i feel comfortable take charge and leading my team in some labs. This school does more than just teach you about electrical but to have to get a job. How to create a resume. And how to be more confident. I was in my shell when i first joined but today I feel comfortable speaking in front of the class to show how if wire something in. Im looking forward to the last two months and to the field im going into. If your looking for a school to become an electrician i would 1000% recommend going in for an interview. So many helpful people that want you to succeed here. Randy my teacher has done everything to keep us entertained and excited for all of our book work. This truly will change your life.
