Friends and I stopped by for happy hour- select pints of beer are on special for $5. I tried the Mangolorian and Main Squeeze. They were so refreshing! I like that they offer some inexpensive snacks, like popcorn. The decorations are interesting too! It's fun to look at all of the labels that the brewery has used. Alley Kat supports the community, which is important to me. During the Alberta Teachers' Strike, they offered a free pint. Thank you, you are appreciated!

I saw many familiar faces from previous events Alley Kat had served at including the fabulous Kristin :-) What's not to love about my beer name doppleganger who also loves kats and wears kat prints? MeOwSeRs!!! I digress... Alley Kat was warm and inviting from the moment we arrived at 5PM. They had freshly made soft pretzels on hand along with cheese and meat nibbles to compliment the launch. Now, let's get to the good stuff... The BEER! Hubby and I were on cloud 9 that our favourite Alley Kat Beer - Freshly Squeezed (with real grapefruit) was still on tap and EVEN BETTER they had 4 packs of it for sale! Our local liquor store only had it in a combo pack but this was like finding a giant bag of your favourite one of a kind Jelly Belly Flavours - Yes, kids... Freshly Squeezed is that good! ( And Yay! It keeps getting better! Just checked out their webiste: www.AlleyKatBeer.com and noted: The Summer Squeeze Grapefriut Ale has taken Alberta beer drinkers by storm. You've been enjoying it so much that it is here to stay. Our Summer Squeeze has become our Main Squeeze. With the inclusion of Grapefruit into our core line up we will be discontinuing the seasonal six pack. ) The launch party was held to feature their fall releases: Alley Kat's Dragon Series Alley Kat brews their Double IPA Dragon Series for hop fans. A new single hopped Double IPA will be released every two months using a different hop variety and sold under a different color of dragon. Current Dragon: Maroon Dragon Release date: October 1st Hop Variety: Centennial Alley Kat is back on the Dragon train with Maroon Dragon DIPA. This Centennial hopped double IPA has floral and citrus aroma with notes of light malt and loads of citrus hop. Brewed in limited quantities so get yours before its all gone! I will admit that I'm usually a wine and girly girly drinker so the Maroon Dragon was completely out of my league. But my fellow drinkers assured me that it was an excellent man's beer - SUPER HOPPY! Do you think they will release an Easter Bunny Hop? Bahahaha! Okay, I'll stop ;-) And my favourite of their Fall Releases: Alley Kat's Big Bottle Series As a way of celebrating great tasting beer, Alley Kat's own Big Bottle series is a toast to all brewmasters and lovers of ale, alike. Cheers, and drink up! Current Big Bottle: Pumpkin Pie Spiced Ale Release Date: Sept 2, 2013 September marks the return of Alley Kat's Pumpkin Pie Ale. This delicious full-bodied beer is infused with pumpkin, ginger and cinnamon. Pumpkin Pie Spiced Ale is like the Fall season personified! And the big bottle packaging is cute and the perfect accompaniment to bring to your Thanksgiving dinner next week! So go snag a few bottles and treat the Beer Lovers in your life to a fabulous limited edition treat! While at the Launch Party we got to partake in a fabulous Brewery tour where I learned that Alley Kat is the oldest microbrewery in Alberta at the tender age of 19 and the 4th oldest Brewery in Alberta. They use recycled bottles boys and girls... That's right, feel good and green when you support your local Kat! Alley Kat also recycles it's spent grains into cattle feed and does their best to use all local and West Coast ingredients! Yay Alley Kat! You've got a friend in me :-) I can't wait to see what will be re-released for Christmas or what new creation you will come up with? Perhaps a Holly Hops? PS - Bring Back CRINGER (Cranberry Ginger)!

The parking lot can get full in front of the hotel but there's also parking in the back. The staff who checked us in was friendly and the process quick. There are 2 elevators and the wait was never too long. Just outside of the elevators on the main floor is the pool area and gym. Being on the second floor, we also used the stairs and they were clean and not creepy. The room is spacious. The bathroom had ample counter space for 2 toiletry bags. There's a mini fridge and coffee area. It's too bad they didn't offer tea though and there was no sugar for the coffee which could have been missed for our room. The bed and bedding was comfortable and they give you lots of pillows. There was a sofa which is great for seating and magazines on the table. The work desk was also new and had a nice chair. The room would be great for business travelers and those on vacation and want to relax. I didn't use the pool/hot tub but it was often occupied. I used the gym on a Sunday morning and there were kids in the pool and adults in the hot tub. The gym can get a bit warm with the sun shining in the window but it's decent with an elliptical, treadmill, bike, and lots of free weights with one bench. Water in the cooler and sanitary wipes for the machines was great. The main area is nice with lots of seating and the open restaurant is convenient as there's also a Starbucks. I've had a few meals in the restaurant and the service is attentive and good food. There are conference rooms and washrooms close by too. Great option for a hotel for those looking for a place to stay in the west end!

The artwork in the rooms felt totally Fung Shui! The bathroom was spacious and had a huge armoire with iron and blow dryer tucked inside (thanks for helping me find it, Hans!). The free Wifi was easy to access and maintained connection throughout the weekend - bonus! I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Edmonton. Located minutes off the Henday and close to West Edmonton Mall. The cafe/restaurant was fabulous and perfectly made my Starbucks Caramel Macchiato.

The guy at the front desk was amazing and I wish I would remember his name to place it in this review. The room was nice, clean, and cozy. The breakfast was a little basic but is included for free.

Dishonest! Went to book a stay through the app, selected their King Suite (wanted the extra…read morebedroom, so wife and I could have a bit of privacy from the kid. We've been traveling a while), and it showed the option of being able to book at least one night with points and cash. As we wanted to stay multiple nights, I couldn't do that through the app (app wanted to do the points plus cash deal for every night). So, I called up their reservation line. I made sure to tell them that I wanted a King Suite. We got it booked at nearly the same cost as their app, and I thought all was good. We got in very late (they were informed of our late arrival) and I proceeded to the counter. We were NOT booked into a King Suite, but a King with sofa bed. They wanted to charge us an additional $60 for the room I had requested and booked. The gentleman said he couldn't do anything about it, but I could speak to a manager the next morning. Well, spoke to the manager this morning. He said we were not booked in a King Suite, but a standard King. He also said that it's an additional $60-70 up-charge for the King Suite and then showed me on his phone how a King Suite is nearly $200 and not the $135 that I was shown the previous day, through the app. So, I pulled up the app and showed him how the room is saying $123 now, for a King Suite. Now he's telling me that we're in a "King Suite"!? I show him the description, "Enjoy floor-to-ceiling windows in two walls of this corner room". We have 2 windows, on One wall, and they're Not "floor-to-ceiling"! Also, "Separate sleeping and living areas". The manager tries to tell me that we do have separate areas as there is a divider. According to him, a two foot pseudo-wall is a divider, making separate areas!? (I grabbed a screenshot of the app, will take pics of the room.) We will be finding alternative arrangements for the remainder of our stay, and I doubt I'll ever stay at a Hyatt again! Utterly dishonest, bait and switch! BEWARE! (Also, at this point, I'm not sure, but they may try and charge me for canceling our stay. It didn't come up, as I was too upset at the dishonesty and treatment).
