And there is plenty of room for them to do that!! There are a couple benches with Shades over the top of them as well as a center structure with benches in the big and the small dog park underneath it. There is a nice water feature in the entry area and they have one, yes one poop bag dispenser and trash can and the trash can is located outside the entry gate? They do have a few agility items and one somewhat tree in the middle. But your dog can run and play and have fun, and young lady met a pitbull here that didn't play well with other dogs, but through patience and understanding she taught him how!

This is definitely the beach to…read morecheck out if you want to avoid the crowds at Tybee Beach or even Hilton Head, although it will require about an hour or so drive south from Savannah and similarly, north from Jacksonville. They also charge a toll to get into the beach community with state residents paying I believe six dollars or so and out of state residents paying closer to 10. However, it's definitely worth it as there is plenty of parking along the entire island beach strip, including a really great fishing pier at the end of the island that also has a bait and tackle shop located within the park. We found the beach to be clean, the facilities to be well kept, and more importantly, not overly crowded. The beach here is well traveled, however so this is not soft, supple sand, but much more hard packed, which allows for running, bike riding and recreational activities in general. There were several families fishing in the same vicinity of other families playing in the water which could present a bit of concern with regard to potential hooks and fishing tackle in the surf, but it didn't seem to bother anybody. This is definitely going to be our go to beach for the foreseeable near future.

We love to get here early to find a good spot, but be mindful that the beach can get busy during peak season. It's a vast open beach with no shade and it's beautiful! Unfortunately for us when we went the wind was so incredibly wicked it was like an getting assaulted by the beach the second we walked onto open sand and it whisked my sons bucket down the shoreline which was tricky to get back lol so we didn't last long lol if the weather was better I imagine we could spend a day there. Bring a lunch and when you're ready go shower clean up eat and let the kids play at the park!

It has some facilities and there are picnic tables, but this is also the kind of island that has a lot of mosquitos so I would be heading towards the beach. This area has some inland water that is apparently permanent enough that they've put pontoon bridges over it, which is kind of cool. The beach here is a little bit wider than on other nearby areas, so the tide is not forcing you to literally sit on a dune and you can walk around the surf fishers. So it is a decent ocean beach, if still on the crowded side.

A Special Visitor at the St. Simons Pier This Morning…read more MoonPie and I were at the pier this morning when an angler accidentally caught a sea turtle. Thankfully, the turtle was handled carefully, the hook was removed, and it was released back into the ocean where it belongs. It swam away strong, which was mighty good to see. You never know what you'll witness at the St. Simons Pier. One minute MoonPie is visiting with everybody walking by, and the next minute we're watching a sea turtle get a second chance. Just another memorable morning on St. Simons Island. It's a really great spot to go fishing or sit and chill. Lots of people, but it's still calm. I loved being able to take pictures with the lighthouse and soak in the sunshine. The beach at South Dunes is absolutely amazing offering expansive views of the ocean as well as the…read morenorth end of little Cumberland Island. A great place to relax, shell, or dip your feet in the tidal pools. From South Dunes Beach we made it to almost Glory Beach. During our walks southward to Glory Beach on the three days while on Jekyll Island, we noticed at least 60-70 turtles nests as well as conservation volunteers, patrolling, tracking, documenting and monitoring the nests. We even had the privilege of seeing the little hatchlings getting released..

It's got a lot of stairs and the stars to the beach are completely covered in sand which made it very dangerous to get down. There are public restrooms, grills, and picnic tables. There are a lot of alligators because outdoors fee them right next to the sign that clearly says not to. This angered me because it's a hazard to the animals and the people who come here and there is NO DNR, ranger or police information anywhere to report this behavior. I even confronted the idiots and told them how stupid they were. Total low life losers. Keep your kids clear away from the water because they come straight to any person they see.

Hiking and biking trails are NOT the same thing as a campground!!!! I hope Yelp can get its act together to acknowledge the trails on this island, which are a huge draw for visitors, and which have their own web presence as acknowledged by the Golden Isles tourism org, as well as the state parks system! JEKYLL ISLAND TRAIL SYSTEM So this review goes with the dozens of photos I posted of the trails all over the island, better known as the Jekyll Island Trail System. JI has over 25 miles of paved trails throughout the island. They also have dirt/sand trails, and gravel trails. Most trails are handicapped accessible, though I'd stick to the paved ones if exploring on wheels of any kind. It is very popular to circumnavigate the perimeter of the island, which can be done, nonstop, in under an hour on bike. But you can easily spend a day traveling this island by bike if you pause to take in all the sights. I would not call any of the trails difficult, neither for biking, nor for walking. The island is mostly flat, so virtually no inclines at all, and the paths are so well-maintained that you will never encounter overgrowth or mud or anything on the paved or boardwalk trails. From Corsair Beach Park, northward, one can ride their bike on the beach, including all over Driftwood Beach, which is arguably the main attraction of not only Jekyll Island, but all of the Golden Isles put together! Other worthy stops include the Historic District, St. Andrews Picnic Area, and Clam Creek Picnic Area. But those are just highlights. Bikes can't go on the southern beaches because it is a haven for sea turtle nests. However, you can chain your bike in the parking lot and walk these beaches, which are worth every second of detour. Beach Village is another fun stop, and the perimeter bike trail goes right through it. Beach Village houses Love Shack inside Jekyll Market, which is my top recommendation for a food stop! On the southern end of the island, there are a lot of inland trails, running through swamp, and under thick tree canopies, allowing you to really explore the innards of the island, and a lot of wildlife. At the northern end, between Clam Creek and Driftwood Beach, there is a trail through the swamp that has beautiful views in every direction, especially at sunset. More toward the center of the island, Tupelo Trail runs past Horton Pond, and Shell Rd. Trail navigates some of the best wildlife spotting areas on the island.

The pier-ish area on the water isn't suited to fishing and the water is too dirty anyway. There are no safety rails adequate for children, and it's a place to walk at your own risk. The playground is okay as something for kids to do. There isn't much shade nor comfortable places for parents to watch. The large pavilion used for the farmers market is a field away from the playground so it's no use for parents. We attended an Easter event post-Ahmaud Arbery's death, during the Biden administration, and it felt truly diverse and positive for all. Recently, we attended the NYE Shrimp Drop during the Trump administration and it felt like a redneck fest with a creepy backwoods white band, and Trumpy-looking scary white people all over with sour faces. There was no sign of the shrimp nor promised bounce houses. Very few people were there, and NONE were non-white. It felt like Deliverance and we got the he!! out! Could not have been more repulsed. The park is a community facility. Local government should have a better grip on these "community" events, especially after their scandalous reputation for having DA Jackie Johnson enabling all the dirty southern racists who crawl out from under their local rocks around here!

Brunswick is an industrial kind of town, so this park is not a major feature. It's one good-sized…read moreblock embedded between shipyards and such. Parking was ample, but shade was not. There is a playground and a waterfront promenade. The crowd was sparse and a tad sketch. There are a handful of local businesses you could walk to on the town's main stretch. Having said all that, there are some rather spectacular waterfront areas not far away, so anyone seeking a view may have better luck elsewhere.
