To get on Saint Simons Island you don't have to pay an island fee. The lady at the desk, her name is Barbara. She was very nice and assisted me with purchasing my passport guide. A passport to the national parks has little areas where you can take the stamps from the different national parks and stamp in your booklet. The passport books includes national parks all over the country. In the gift shop, they have a regular passport, an expert passport and a junior guide for a junior Rangers. 10/10

The employees and camp hosts are friendly and helpful. There is lots of trails and wildlife to enjoy. Anytime we have had issues, they are promptly addressed and rectified. The only slight drawback is the paper mill stench. It can be quite awful at times. Oh! And the noseeum's. Bring bug spray! We regularly visit Savannah, Jacksonville, St Simons, Jekyll Island, Amelia Island and Okefenokee National Park while staying here. Brunswick has all the necessities you would need and is a nice town. Husband always visits the Pinball Palace! Highly recommend staying a while and really exploring the beauty of this area.

Transients like me and longer term stays are available in the campground. There's just something about being waterside that I find helpful for my mood and my productivity, I was here for about two hours for phone calls and emails, sitting in the van and listening to the quiet lapping of the shore. There are activities here including picnic shelters, a playground, a fishing pier and a boat launch with crane. I was able to watch them pull a boat in with the crane and load it onto a trailer. The beach has a large parking lot that even includes EV charging stations as well as a building with restrooms, bike racks, and picnic shelters with grills. The park is well built up and ready to host lots of people. Paved parking, handicapped ramps, trash cans and even showers to get the sand off your kids before you load them back up into the car. It is located on the east side of the island and as it says in the name, it has a view of the ocean. There are no barrier islands beyond here - it's direct exposure to the Atlantic and it's beautiful. Expect strong winds and be aware of riptides. The beach at South Dunes is absolutely amazing offering expansive views of the ocean as well as the…read morenorth end of little Cumberland Island. A great place to relax, shell, or dip your feet in the tidal pools. From South Dunes Beach we made it to almost Glory Beach. During our walks southward to Glory Beach on the three days while on Jekyll Island, we noticed at least 60-70 turtles nests as well as conservation volunteers, patrolling, tracking, documenting and monitoring the nests. We even had the privilege of seeing the little hatchlings getting released..

This angered me because it's a hazard to the animals and the people who come here and there is NO DNR, ranger or police information anywhere to report this behavior. I even confronted the idiots and told them how stupid they were. Total low life losers. Keep your kids clear away from the water because they come straight to any person they see.
