4 stars - great amenities, big space, mixed vibe Equinox Hollywood is a solid location and one I go to pretty often. It's a very different experience from most gyms in a good and bad way. First thing you notice is the size. This location is much bigger than others and actually feels like a full, large-scale gym. There's a lot more space to move around, and overall it just feels less tight even when it's busy. I mainly use it for general workouts, but I've also done yoga classes here and used the amenities, pool, and jacuzzi. The pool and jacuzzi are a huge plus and really make this location stand out, especially for recovery days or when you want more than just lifting. Staff and overall energy are strong. Front desk usually greets you, trainers are more approachable, and the place feels more social. Cleanliness is solid too, staff keeps everything in check. The downside is the crowd. The vibe can be a bit much at times. A lot of people seem more focused on socializing, filming content, or being seen rather than just working out. It's not always like that, but it's noticeable. Weekends, especially afternoons, get hectic. But parking is actually not bad. The structure is big and I've never had to wait long to find a spot. Overall, it's a strong location. My perspective as a human being who has practiced martial arts, wellness, meditation, hollistic health, and yoga for 30 years. And, an accredited wardrobe stylist for over 25 years for visual reference. I kick a bag. I do something different. Like Bruce Lee, Be. Like. Water. I choose peace. However, that does not mean others choose the same. - I was called a "c**t" by a member in the early am. No management was present. I told the front desk. People do as they do. Moving on. - I was using a bag in the main room. I sensed someone coming so I left the room. A woman walked in - on her cell phone. I paused, observed. I walked back in and said "Hi, I am using this bag". She said, "So what I don't care". I responded, "That is not nice". She shrugged her shoulders, was dismissive and went to hug the boxing teacher. I chose to walk away. The cell phone usage is out of control. Nobody enforces rules. A manager called me and said someone claimed I put hands on them and flipped them off. I asked him if it was that woman. He changed his dates and times 4 times on our call. I do not put hands, on anybody. I practice peace. My hands go on a bag. When I train, my hands go into mudra. Perception. Is. Everything. I paused my membership for 2 weeks because I did not feel safe. I have awareness, and I have awareness that every single person has a different perspective. My only choice is to control myself, and. My response to things. I went back to maintain discipline. Mind my business. It is equinox. Supposed luxury, privacy. Not the case. 3 days ago, a woman wearing an underwear set - came in the main room as I was working out. I train alone. Had 3 bags. A man followed, and asked me if there was a class, I responded, "I don't know, I like to workout alone now that you both are here, I have to pivot. Would you mind going on the other side of the room?" He said, "Sure. No problem". I approached the woman in the underwear, and asked her if there was a class. She ignored me. The gentleman and I looked at each other confused. People do as they do. Moving on. I went to put the bag back as the woman in the underwear was doing lunges. The bag is heavy and needs to be rolled. We collided - the bag tapped her shoulder - so I stopped to ask her if she was ok. She would not acknowledge me. I asked again, "I want to make sure you are ok, it is important to me". She ignored me. I left. I get a call yesterday, that she made some sort of complaint. My membership was revoked. If management does not manage, It is what it is. My fault for thinking people would have decorum? Or equinox for allowing people to take photos, film, and make it my problem to tell them to enforce their own policies. I had multiple conversations with managers who are no longer there. A corporate gym that I paid a high premium for privacy, allows phones in the steam room, allows members to wear underwear and not take into account a member is indeed wearing underwear. It is beyond me. Perspective. The thirst is definitely real at this location. Selfie city. Cell phones everywhere. Sitting on machines, taking selfies. I keep my head down and do my thing. People be peopling. What I value. Kindness. Respect. Helpful people. Doing my thing and empowering others to be themselves. Be strong. Never harm another. That being said. You never know what is in someone's mind. Until you ask them. For me. This is disappointing. It is corporate. It is also, Hollywood. I accept people, do my best not to judge. I do however, know underwear when I see underwear. I am not management. Positive - the design team. The plants, the black and white paintings, the chairs by the pool. The worn-in leather couches. The staff at earthbar. I am so bad with names - the spa people (a new masseuse I wish I could remember his name - so gifted). A new trainer Marcell - such good energy, a kind loving human being. Helpful. Zareye. Kind. Oh the one maintenance guy, he is so sweet. Wish I had the opportunity to say thanks for being so kind. Culver City is the move if you want kind people, cleanliness, helpfulness, and quality the brand tries to market. (Aside from one person with a cell phone in the steam room. Worst Equinox for the value. Even the 24 hour and la fitness within walking distance are larger. If you're looking for a local luxury experience, John Reed is much nicer. They also have no consideration for their neighbors and will create a lot of construction noise late into the night. Poor management. read more

This is definitely one of the nicer Equinox clubs that I've visited. The overall quality is superior here to the Equinox West Hollywood and Equinox Beverly Hills gyms because of the pool, high ceilings, size of the workout area, interior design and a parking section that is only for Equinox members. Stunning and modern design is a hallmark of many LA gyms and Equinox Hollywood has that with modern artwork that integrates functionally with the interior, a futuristic lobby, mirrored hallways and red neon signs. All in a minimalist black, white, red and polished chrome aesthetic. But cool design isn't what most people go to a gym for; they go for the facilities, equipment, the layout and the vibe. This gym has all that. There's a lap pool (which most other Equinox fitness centers don't have), an enormous central floor with free weights, machines, high ceilings and good ventilation. The gym has great locker rooms, a large Pilates room, Hyperice massage stations, eucalyptus infused hand towels and more. The front desk service here is really nice and even though I'm only a member of one Equinox (select basic membership), when there's a breakdown at that Equinox (in WeHo, which is frequent) they will let members use this gym and the front desk has always been understanding and very courteous. I would actually become a member, but it's a bit far for me. Having a lap pool is really an outstanding feature of this club. Most of my friends also prefer this Equinox in Hollywood to any of the local locations other than the hyper premium and most expensive Equinox location in Century City. read more

I have been to a handful of Equinox and this is one of the only ones, I think are worth the premium. Studio City, Glendale, and Pasadena are tiny compared to this location. This location has a great amount of equipment to take on busy times. Location has its own parking lot and validation is good for 2.5 hours. They also offer free portable chargers for their guests. Only sad things is that once I signed up, I never heard back from the sales rep, Marcus Barber. The rest of the team has been nice and provided me the answers I had for the gym. read more

Word experience ever ! joined them for the second time , not only they had lured me in with a fake gift card that I never got To use because they never gave it to me but after trying To cancel my memebership due to moving , and then approving the cancellation they kept on charging my account and refused to give my money back . I like the gym itself but recently had a very poor experience. I visited Equinox Hollywood earlier this week for my normal work out. As I was walking out, I saw a promotion for members with April birthdays : 35% off and a 50-minute service. I called to book and was transferred around before finally reaching someone who scheduled my appointment for the following day. When I called back a few minutes later to switch to a male therapist, a different staff member handled my request and ended up booking me a 7 PM appointment for that same evening, which didn't make any sense because it was 8:30pm when I called. I obviously never had the appointment, but I was charged for it anyway. I emailed the manager that same night explaining the situation. He never responded to my email. I called the club the following morning to resolve the situation and spoke with David (from the spa) who acknowledged the slip up and assured me the situation would be resolved. I also received a call from a woman later that day (Wednesday) who apologized and verbally promised a full refund. I assumed I'd receive an email notification of refund (because I received an email notification of charges for the services I ver received), but I received no such email. I called Thursday and spoke to someone at the front desk who assured me a manager would reach out to me. It is now Saturday and I have no refund, no receipt confirming the refund, and no callback despite being promised one on Thursday. When I called today, I was told a manager wasn't available because it's the weekend and front desk staff couldn't assist with the matter. The person I spoke with at the front desk today was a little rude and dismissive of my situation. I've been patient and professional throughout. The error was entirely on their end. The booking timestamp alone proves it was impossible for me to have attended the massage that they erroneously scheduled. I've now had to file a credit card dispute because Equinox has failed to follow through on their own promise. Was a member here for 8 years, not anymore. I took 6 months off after a hip replacement and gave them a doctor's note to freeze the membership. When I came back they put my membership fee up by $70 a month bringing the monthly fee to almost $300. I contacted membership and they said 'that's the way it is'. The gym is oversubscribed. People hog the machines, holding them with towels so they can work sets. Despite the rules of no talking on phones or photos this happens everywhere - there was someone sitting in the spa on their laptop and nothing was done. The manager Brandon is not interested in getting more sanitation wipes for the equipment or stopping phones & photography. The good trainers leave quickly and you're lucky if you find a parking space. read more

Paying full price and having such a small limited gym doesn't make sense to me, also out dated machines. The WORST lash lift experience I've had in my entire life. I'm still mortified as I write this review. I had an appointment for a facial and lash lift at Equinox's spa. When I checked in, the front desk told me that my facial appointment was not in the system and my appointment was only for the lash lift. I told the staff I'll go in and check with spa, and when I went inside, the specialist Kathleen told me my first appointment was in their system. I got my facial and Kathleen was fantastic. She was attentive and thorough the entire process. After my facial was finished, I was waiting for my lash lift and the second specialist rushed in and said she wasn't aware that she had an appointment today. She said she usually comes in early if she knew that she has an appointment and scrambled to get situated as I waited. The specialist started working on my lashes and after a while she told me that they were not staying up. I started to feel my eyes getting uncomfortable and half way into the procedure, I felt sharp pain in my eyes. The solution had gotten in my eyes and were red, burning and watering. It took a few minutes to calm down the irritation. Even though my eyes were still burning, I was told I could not wash my eyes. Then the specialist took everything off and I was SHOCKED when she told me that I need to get out of the room because the next client is here. Kathleen walked in and told me I can take my time, but I felt uncomfortable at that point since the other specialist kicked me out of the room with my eyes still in pain. In the waiting area, the specialist told me that my eyes were twitching from the caffeine that I had this morning (I have an allergy to caffeine and cannot have anything caffeinated) and my lashes were not lifted since they could not finish the procedure. The specialist said I wasn't charged for the lash lift and charged me for the facial only. She did not check my eyes after I left the room and it seemed like she was not concerned about my safety or satisfaction. I got to my car to see the damage for myself and noticed that I had glue all over my eyes. It's quite disappointing that the spa rushed to get me out of the room to take care of a different client and did not properly tend to the problem that I was having. My lashes looked nearly the same as when I went in, and I came out with crusty, burning eyes. The cherry on top, I checked my bank app and saw that they DID charge the full amount for the lash lift. I had to call the spa to get the charge reversed. *Edit: 10 days later, they still did not refund me. I had to email customer service, who told me my refund was rejected because the staff entered the information incorrectly. What??? Absolutely ridiculous. This Equinox location is nowhere near the luxury and quality they advertise to be. I don't think I'd ever return to this facility again. read more

UPDATE: STILL NO OWNING UP TO LYING- Member of 2+ years: DO NOT JOIN - PREDATORY SALES PRACTICES: Equinox Hollywood has some of the poorest management I have experienced at a gym at this price point. When I signed up, a salesperson explicitly promised me a $150 credit. I have the voicemail and provided proof. When I followed up, I was ignored for weeks, then told the promotion did not exist. No ownership, no accountability, just passing the issue around and hoping I would drop it. It feels like sales staff are allowed to say whatever they need to say to get you to sign a contract, then management refuses to honor it afterward. On top of that, the environment has gone downhill. Today I watched a staff member argue with a guest for nearly 20 minutes over talking on their phone. Completely unnecessary, ego-driven, and uncomfortable for everyone around. I could not care less about phone rules. I care about professionalism and basic respect. For how much this gym costs, this level of service and leadership is unacceptable. I had a very negative experience at Equinox Hollywood with the Assistant General Manager, Deana Smith. I came in genuinely interested and enthusiastic in touring the facility and potentially signing up for a membership. I had uploaded my valid California government ID online, but Deana refused to accept it and would not allow me to tour the gym or be a guest. She was rude, dismissive, and unprofessional, showing no interest in helping me or welcoming a potential new member. I left feeling completely unwelcome and disrespected. Probably the smallest Equinox I've been to, but sometimes that works to its favor. Located on Vine St., a clean and trendy part of Hollywood, you'll find convenient places neighboring the gym such as Trader Joes, and plenty of yummy restaurants nearby within immediate walking distance. One of my gripes is that sometimes personal trainers don't get the hint and continue pushing sign ups while I'm working out, headphones in and all. Another is parking during rush hour can get rough, so double check to see if there are any available spots on the second floor. My final gripe is the size. Compared to locations such as El Segundo, WeHo, Beverly Hills, Huntington Beach, and Irvine, it's a baby. Finding expansive real state in this area in such a prime location is difficult, and I'll give them props for doing what they can. Touching on that last point, it plays to its strengths by being within striking distance of your next workout, water station, restrooms, stretching areas, etc. There are also ample amounts of newer cardio machines, and fantastic classes. My favorite was Yin Yang yoga, highly recommend it for a therapeutic and low-intensity experience! read more

I did not sign any paperwork and did not Esign anything whatsoever. The salesman secretly makes a 1 year contract and does Esign online on behalf of the client without telling them and enrolls in a 1 year contract. They are committing frauds. Didnt experience a personal trainer here, but in one of my other reviews I don't like how they're instructed to talk about nutrition despite lack of qualification. Buuut onto the more important part: 4 stars because they have a pool lol. I like the set up of this equinox, but I love the pool. It was a fun swim and splitting lanes was easy (I just felt bad that I had a super awkward moment with the person who asked me to split lanes because I couldn't tell if she was talking to me). The gym is fan and Jan is a great member advisor. My issue is with the spa. I went to have a treatment and the spa damaged my skin. My skin after the spa has experienced significant breakouts, severe irritation, and erosion, and is drier then before I had the service and trying to resolve this with the Spa has been a nightmare. This so-called manager is condescending and rude. Unless you want your skin damaged and ruined, I would strongly advise never going to the spa. I will now have to spend money to fix my skin at the dermatologist. read more

Incredibly rude management with very deceptive business practices, one could even use the word 'fraudulent'. I was worried about the stability of my job when I re-joined the gym several months ago, and the Membership Advisor promised me that if I lost my job and had to move, all I needed to do was submit an email to management in order to cancel. THIS IS A LIE. I've spent pushing $5k at this gym over the past 6 months (between membership, spa, personal training, and Earth Bar) - and they still are trying to fight me for more money, it is absolutely insane. The personal trainers are average at best. 6 weeks, over $2k spent - hardly any results. My EquiFit assessments said that I actually REGRESSED. It's like the trainer didn't actually take any notes on my medical history or injuries, every week I had to remind her of them. The workouts she put me through were Equinox's generic app programming - SAVE YOURSELF $140/SESSION AND JUST DO THE WORKOUTS YOURSELF. I also developed severe shoulder pain, which has stopped since I discontinued working out with her. The trainer was constantly trying to sell me on more training, didn't alert me of cancelation fees, and continues to text me asking when I'm coming back in to work out with her (kind of rude when you know someone has lost a job and money is tight). Their app is crap - they don't even upload your EquiFit data into it. I've had 2 EquiFit assessments - none of the data is accessible. Everything else in the other reviews is true - it is almost impossible to find a spot in the parking lot after work, crap towels, shower and sauna smell moldy, spa service is truly hit or miss (BTW - if you have an appointment scheduled at the spa with a particular individual, they will not notify you if they are switching the person on you. They act like they're doing you a favor for not charging you a cancellation fee if you don't want a strange masseuse touching your naked body). The only great thing about this place is Buddy Macuha - the guy who leads sound baths on Wednesday night. He is truly magical, but not worth the $270/month membership. Equinox has become a major disappointment after a decade of membership. -Locker rooms have become very dirty; towels all over the floor, & trash inside the lockers. - "Clean" towels on the shelves are always dirty. Brown and red stain marks. -Treadmills and equipment are frequently broken i.e. cables, seat adjustments on benchpress. They have been broken for months! -Weights are all over the place. There is no staff to clean up after people. - No loyalty program. I've been a member for over 10 years and I get no appreciation in return. Been a member for some time now. Jan has been a great advisor and the maintenance crew is respectful and helpful. Yet the major annoyance is parking--the darn gate is broken 95% of the time so people who are not residents or gym members get in and take all the spots. It's annoying that during peak hours I have to get to the gym at least 30 mins before any classes I sign up for or they'll charge me as missing them. Not my fault that I cannot find a spot due to poorly maintained gates! The dispensers in the women's bathroom also break like no one's business. Some trainers can also be pushy and I hate to be disrespectful but if I'm not actively seeking you out, I do not want a personal trainer and let me exercise in peace (the ones I did seek out where nice and understanding though). read more

Having been a member since this gym first opened, it pains me to say that this location has deteriorated to the point where I finally left last month. All the negative reviews are accurate, so I won't bother rehashing them. It's a shame because most of the staff are personable and well-meaning. But the bottom line is the facility and service just aren't the value that they used to be. Bear in mind, however, that the drop in quality may be far worse with other gyms, so Equinox may still be the best relative value compared to local offerings. It's a wonderful moment in time to be a member at the Hollywood Equinox. We're currently experiencing an incredibly rare set of phenomena at the gym, and I highly recommend you sign up while it's still happening! You may not believe this, but currently the entrance and exit parking gates, both elevators, most of the cardio equipment, and all sinks, towel dispensers, and drinking fountains are working and fully operational. I've been a member at equinox for years, prior to the pandemic and I rejoined a year after the pandemic. I once thought that when you joined a local gym that they would care about you and your well being. After an incident outside the gym with another member of the gym which resulted in damage to my property and verbal assault, I voiced my concern that the other member was a threat to my safety and shared that I had to go to the police and file a report. They gave me the run around and said only if an incident in the club can result in any action to help with my safety can be done on their part. I will be leaving equinox with a very bad taste in my mouth. If you want a gym that cares about you and your safety or just well being, join another gym. read more

We came here for a day to check out this gym. I've always wanted to see what the hype was about and now i get it!!!! Me and the bf are really contemplating dropping over $400 in a monthly membership Sounds crazy right BUT!! This gym is so clean and they have everything you need. All the machines work! The weights are nice and not dented or abused lol There's space and you don't feel it being stuffy. The staff was really nice and they had the cleaning staff making rounds and making sure everything was sanitized. I enjoyed my time here and the Bf really took advantage of everything the offer like the jacuzzi, steam room and shower lol I love the eucalyptus towels wow they felt so refreshing after a hard workout. read more

The worst equinox I have been to . Ridiculously overcrowded to the point that it's overwhelming. The gym is very small for being such a busy area . Layout is terrible . It's just one big room . They offered training sessions which I declined because there is no place to even do personal training . The worst part is they focus on obtaining more members rather than investing in the club or equipment. I don't find it different that a regular cheap gym except for eucalyptus towels that I never use and a steam room . Things are often broken . As a brand I feel like they have really declined. Mens bathrooms can be a Filthy place, especially at budget gyms. This facility is clean, immaculate, and efficient. Mind your other, well paying members! The trainers are helpful, respectful, and really have a can-do attitude. They feature a variety of yoga/ group exercises, even ballet. The GM Brandon runs a tight ship! Equinox Hollywood - Gyms Near Me - Los Angeles, California

When I joined Equinox Hollywood in 2019, it met my expectations for the price tag. The GM was Andrea Farino, who was personable and went above and beyond to develop relationships with customers. When she was replaced with Brandon Ross, the relationship building was replaced with terse responses and an ever growing pile of problems with the gym itself: - Broken gym equipment that goes unfixed for weeks. - Tattered towels that need to be replaced. - Unattended locker room yielding piles of towels (within only a few hours of being open) and unfilled lotion bottles. - Toxic cleaning product usage in showers while showers are in use by clients. - Toxic cleaning product sprayed directly on water fountains from which people drink. - Inconsistent availability of hot water in showers. All these issues while clients' membership fees increase up to 5% annually. Paying $262 a month should mean, at the very least, consistency, let alone consideration for the ease and comfort of its clients. Yet every other week, I'm the one needing to tell maintenance about problems which if not addressed, means spending my time contacting the GM. It's ridiculous. Really. There's no reason to pay a premium price tag unless the clients are cared for and that is not the case at the Equinox Hollywood. And finally, it's also worth mentioning that one of the team members who provides massage told me, unprompted, that all of them have a very "cookie-cutter" approach, not listening to client needs. I found this out the hard way a few years ago when during my first and only time getting a message, I told her she was working my knees too hard and she wouldn't stop. Water fountain is broken for 3 weeks now, multiple machines are broken, including 50% of the main treadmills (which aren't broken, but their buttons are malfunctioning; they would change speed by themselves, and often don't respond unless pressed very firmly). It's a good gym but missing major equipment and is packed all day. At a less expensive gym this would be expected, but at Equinox for $280/month the value is not there. This gym is always busy, with the same machines in use 90% of the day, with no second machine (looking at you leg raise, bicep curls, etc.) installed. Parking is a similar challenge - it almost always seems full, but even when it is not the gym itself is still packed inside. The biggest misses are no sauna and no ice bath. These (especially the sauna) are 100% standard at gyms in 2023 - and they are at LA Fitness down the street for $30/month. Every time I am there another prospective customer is on a tour - let's slow down the adding customers because at $280/month people actually show up to Equinox. It is overwhelming and a poor experience and time to fix it. read more

Thanks for the day pass. My friend loves this place, so while he went to a spin class, I did a work out. The space is large and clean. So many pieces of equipment available. Thought I might have to wait for some cardio equipment, but so many options. It was a great workout experience and no meatheads. Yeah! Great stretch area with plenty of room for multiple people stretching at the same time. It is a great city gym and a must stop on my next visit. read more

What a terrible phone call with client services in regards to a membership. She was so bitter and rude to me when I asked about pricing. My god Jasmine needs a one on one with management on proper phone etiquette. I get it people call all day asking about membership but like sis that's your job!! read more
