Unfortunately he did not call in advance so I wasn't prepared. I was in the middle of something that I couldn't drop and took me about 10 min. Then the snow blower was on the back porch so I had to add gas, get out the electric start cord and bring it out front. When I got there he had left. When I called him he was very rude saying he had already wasted a half hour and would have to clean the carb (he claimed the gas was bad but it ran fine). Most of this could have been avoided if he would have just called before coming so I could be ready for him. Never will call him again for anything.

That being said, the guy is great at what he does. Jim actively looked for ways to save me money. For example, he sharpened the blade and cleaned the air filter. Any other shop would have replaced both, resulting in a higher bill. Costs of small parts were included in the hourly rate. The only negatives were that he does not accept credit cards and I found his published operating hours to be a suggestion. Call ahead to make sure that he will be there and take adequate cash with you.

I simply booked the appointment expecting a standard service call. Within about 2 minutes of arriving, he assessed that it needed a battery. Total time at my house was maybe 15-25 minutes, and the bill came out to $429.70. The pricing alone was frustrating, but the bigger issue was the attitude and customer service throughout the visit.
