Delicious matcha, gorgeous modern interiors. Very friendly service as well. Got "the OG," which comes with a toasted marshmallow. We also had the option to add in some maple syrup for light sweetness. The drink was absolutely delicious, and the marshmallow paired very well with the light bitterness of the matcha. There's some outdoor seating, but mainly indoor with a couch area that has a record player with headphones that customers can use. It's a cozy, modern, clean, and serene environment. The only reason I give it 4 instead of 5 stars is because we paid $11 for a small, ~6 oz drink. It was delicious, but teeny tiny.
I finally got to this spot after putting it on my to go list. Its located on a very tight portion of 28th street before Charles. You will roll by if driving with the tree covers a portion of the view but not extremely. This space appears to represent a calm, contemporary, biophilic environment; an atmosphere designed to promote relaxation, focus, and social connection. A few characteristics stand out: the abundance of indoor plants creates a connection to nature, which gives the vibe of stress relief. Lounge ambiance: The comfortable seating, bookshelves, soft lighting, and intimate layout suggest a place meant for reading, conversation, working, or unwinding. Overall, I would describe this as a modern wellness-inspired café environment that emphasizes comfort, creativity, and tranquility with light balanced music playing. I was warmly greeted, ordered the signature matcha and milk bread pudding. All was great and matched the tranquil environment. I decided to stay to get a feel of the environment and omg it gave the energy and vibe with the patrons light convos of peace. I also like the small cards with notes of being mindful of time at the tables to make it assessible to have others enjoy and experience the vibe; as its very small but moving. I will definitely be back, I love it.

Baltimore's best kept Matcha secret. Hidden gem with innovative, creative drinks and a well thought out interior. The service is quick with kind staff and it's so nice to see the owner there making the drinks himself. The good music selection plays in the background and the owner also has good music taste. He has records of good R&B artists near one of the sitting areas. Delicious drinks I tried their strawberry Matcha and the OG one (whichever one that had lavender and chamomile). That one was admittedly my favorite. It was very well balanced and I absolutely loved it. Having apple sugar on top was a game changing decision- appeared nicely with the strawberry Matcha drink. The strawberry Matcha had less sugar than I expected, but when mixed it was better. Overall, a great place to study, hang out with friends, or get some work done. I will absolutely be coming back!
Y'all heard it here first: the best matcha in the world is in Baltimore, MD. I literally just got back from a trip to Japan in April and was missing my matcha as a newly inducted matcha girlie--had heard amazing things about Equitea and WOW. They blew us away. The vibes? Immaculate. The service? So friendly and welcoming. And the matcha? Let it speak for itself. Sheeeeeesh. The flavor options are so fun it was hard deciding, so I had to just go with the OG. The addition of the toasted marshmallow is literally *chefs kiss*. The strawberry was also so good and refreshing. I loved that there were records and a record player--just like the record bars in Japan. So vibey so cute can't wait for them to make 100 more locations. Towson first please. :)
The matcha here is super good and you can adjust your drink to your sweetness liking. They have great options and the service was excellent! I can be indecisive and the person taking my order explained everything and was patient. The ambiance is also very intentionally curated and a great vibe!
Came to Equitea for a treat during my weekend in Baltimore, and I'm so glad I came across this little spot! The matcha was very tasty and clearly high quality. I appreciate that they ask if you would like your matcha plain, balanced, or sweet. I do wish I got mine sweet, but that's personal preference. Katrina was an absolute angel, she was so warm and kind to us when we came in and gave us recommendations. We got the OG and the signature; both were amazing. The OG has a smokiness from the marshmallow that added a delicious flavor. The signature was also amazing and had a clear lavender taste, which I feel like gets lost easily in other drinks. Described as the best matcha my partner has ever had, and I'd have to agree! Per Katrina's recommendation, we also got the honey bread, which was AMAZING. The dining room is small with only about 8 places to sit, and some outdoor tables. Overall, amazing service and clearly a lot of care and attention to good quality products. Pretty pricey, but I'm okay with it because of this.
Equitea has officially moved out of their pop up into their permanent space and let me just say, it is gorgeous in here! I've always driven past this vacant office space and wondered why nothing was in here and now that Equitea is calling this corner home, it all just makes sense. The inside feels very Japanese-inspired with mid century modern touches. Gorgeous lighting, luxurious drapery, cozy couch seating, wooden bar stools, a quaint corner booth, and a community table perfect for coworking. The menu is still small but mighty. I ordered the matcha latte iced which comes with oat milk, a toasted marshmallow plus, I added maple syrup for a bit of sweetness. It was really good with an impressive amount of foam on top. However, my boyfriend's OG matcha which comes with just water, maple syrup and matcha was SO good. I was really impressed because a lot of matcha without milk can be a bit too grassy tasting for me. Not this one. It was refreshing, balanced and sweet without being overly sweet. Pro tip: The garage next door is free for the first 20 minutes or $5 for one hour. Not too bad for the area, especially if you go on a busy Saturday and struggle to find parking.
GORGEOUS edition to Remington Row. Noteworthy matcha ... definitely not pre-batched! #HandWhisked for the win. IYKYK. Not at all sustainable but absolutely worth the visit. The quick and efficient service adds to my delight. I'm a lil embarrassed to admit this is my 2nd matcha for the day. (Caffeine overload is a reality ATP.) I wish I had gotten the sweetener ... this one was a little tart. However, that's my fault, NOT theirs. #BlackOwnedBusiness ... he can take my $8 ANY day!

It was easily one of the best matcha lattes I've had in Baltimore and honestly ranks in my top three ever. Smooth, vibrant, and clearly crafted with care. Yes, it leans a little pricey, but the quality backs it up completely. This is a spot I'll be returning to again and again. A must try if you're on the hunt for great matcha in the city. It is a perfectly curated matcha social spot. You can tell there's thought behind every detail, from the quality of the ingredients to the presentation. And the honey toast? Absolutely out of this world. The perfect balance of sweet, crisp. It alone is worth the visit. If you're looking for chill energy, amazing matcha, incredible bites, and a space that feels both elevated and comfortable, Equitea is definitely the move.
This was my first time visiting after the soft launch. I got the OG again and tried the toast, both of which were pretty good. We came on a Saturday around 11am so it was super crowded when we got there but it did start to pick up. My friend and I sat at the bigger table and were asked to move to accommodate a larger group. We were having a pretty private conversation so we ultimately ended up leaving. I understand the ask since there was a smaller table available but we would've ended up sandwiched between other folks. Oh well!

Truthfully Baltimore's matcha game is weak. Let's all be real here. Their matcha is decent, but overpriced and not strong in flavor. Additionally it's small. But the ambiance is so cool and the staff are so so so friendly. However, with that being said, I think it's the best in the area. read more

Priced at $7.50 you get a very small portion making this drink very expensive and I felt they could have used more matcha to bring out the flavor because it wasn't strong (the marshmallow was a nice touch though). I did love the interior of the cafe (keep in mind seats are limited) and staff were very friendly. Overall, not my favorite for matcha but I'd come back to give their coffee a try. read more

Stopped by Equitea for their soft opening and really enjoyed the experience. I tried the gingerbread matcha tea and the honey toast, and everything was spot on. The drinks were smooth, well-balanced, and not overly sweet, and the toast was warm, flavorful, and comforting. The customer service was excellent as usual, ambiance is calm, inviting, and beautifully designed -- a great spot to sit, relax, or catch up with a friend. Quality ingredients, thoughtful flavors, and a welcoming atmosphere make this a place I'd happily return to. read more
WOW -- I've been wanting to go here and so happy I finally got to try it! This is a cozy spot and everyone here is so lovely and nice. I got the OG Matcha latte with syrup to sweeten and it was so good! I can't wait to try some of their seasonal drinks. The place itself is gorgeously designed and such a pleasant place to get some work done. Seating is a bit limited but I was able to find a table! I can't wait to come back. I did street parking but found a spot easily as well! read more
Finally trying out Equitea and I am a HUGE fan!!!!! The matcha is great, not too sweet when they make it balanced. The OG was excellent and served with yummy toasted marshmallow!!! The vibes are so cute and cozy here. I came on a rainy weekday around lunch time and the atmosphere was perfect. Took me back to the cafes I went to in Japan! The decor is very elegant but comfortable. Great coworking space. Love the natural light as well! Will be back to try the other drinks!!! read more
I had the chance to enjoy a sneak peek of Equitea's new matcha home, and Baltimore is truly in for a treat. The space already feels warm, intentional, and community-centered -- the kind of place you want to linger, not just grab a drink and go. One of the most exciting parts is that Equitea is Baltimore's first Black-owned matcha shop, and you can really feel the pride and purpose behind it. They're creating more than a café -- it's a cultural and wellness space. There's even a vinyl corner where you can sip matcha and listen to your favorite records, which adds such a cozy, nostalgic vibe. It's the perfect spot to unwind, study, or meet up with friends. The drinks were incredible. My favorites were: * Gingerbread Matcha Latte (Matcha + Gingerbread Blend + Oat Milk) -- comforting, slightly sweet, and perfectly spiced. It tastes like winter in a cup. * Vanilla Hoji-Matcha Latte (Matcha + Hojicha + Oat Milk + Vanilla) -- smooth, earthy, and beautifully balanced without being overly sweet. You can tell they really care about quality matcha and the experience surrounding it. Matcha lovers will appreciate the calm energy and rich flavor, but even people new to matcha will find options they love. Equitea will be opening to the public very soon, and I highly recommend keeping an eye out for their grand opening. This is absolutely going to become a new Baltimore favorite. The vibe of this place was amazing. Some great seating areas although very small. It was very busy when we went around 12pm on a weekday. It felt a little performative, they roasted a marshmallow with a torch to top the matcha. The matcha had a powder on it that we cannot identify but it really brought the whole flavor down. The matcha itself was great and the marshmallow cold foam worked nice together. Without the unidentified powder, it would be an incredible matcha, a real matcha taste with just the right amount of milk. It was quite pricy at $6.75 for the cups being so small with rounded bottoms, making it even smaller. We also got a Honey Butter Toast that was $6, and it was very good but for the price definitely not worth it. read more
i have been meaning to try this place since they opened but always remembered on a weekend when it was totally packed. i recently did some remote work on a weekday so was able to stop in. i ordered the strawberry matcha and the honey butter toast, which came to 20 dollars. the baristas were very nice and the interior is really cute, although maybe small for its popularity. we lucked out and stole a seat as someone was getting up. i liked the strawberry matcha, but it didn't blow me away. you could tell it was very high quality, and the strawberry puree was really fresh and tasty, but it was missing something. it didn't taste like grass at all which was great. the honey butter toast was quite good and tastes exactly was described. this place was good, but for the portion size and price i wouldn't make this a regular stop. read more

Incredible and beautiful new location in Remington. The matcha menu varies so check on Instagram to see latest offerings and arrive on the early side as they tend to sell out of options by the afternoon. Expect a decent wait overall (we were there ~30 minutes total between waiting in line and waiting for the matcha - not an issue but want to share so you know in advance! Matcha is so consistent and so great seeing how much they've grown and are loved by the community. Several seating options but if it's the weekend or prime time expect to stand! read more

I've falling for the matcha propaganda! This place doesn't disappoint. My OG matcha was honestly one of the best if not THE BEST matcha latte I've had in life. I usually have whole milk in my lattes but the oat milk worked well in this. Service was great. I felt like the Equitea team really tries to give customers an experience. It's a nice, cozy place inside of a nice building. This is a must try if ever passing through this part of Baltimore. I live over 30 minutes away but found an excuse to come this way and I was glad I did. read more
This is a review for the matcha pop up. I really love all things matcha so I was very excited to try! I've had some nice high quality matcha from Japan before. And I can tell the matcha Equitea used is quality! I really liked the strawberry matcha, it's beautifully presented and so refreshing. I did not like the lavender one as much. It was too floral, to the point it was overwhelming and completely masked the flavor of the matcha. The decor is super cute! Spacious whilst still feeling cozy. A slightly rustic feel. Street parking is available. Staff are very friendly and they write your name on the cup so it feels personal. read more
I went to the popup, the customer service was excellent! This is the best matcha I ever had, and the matcha pound cake was delicious. They make each drink with natural fruit, made to perfection! You can also try there to go canned drinks which are delicious as well! I have to go to their brick and mortar location! It was crowded so I can imagine how his new location is. I needed a mental rest and a soothing beverage. Found my way to Equitea. What a gift of a cafe. Quiet, warm, inviting and cooler than me. I had the ritual, hot, and a slice of honey toast that was delicious. Matcha was perfect. This is about a 35min drive from my house, but i would take that drive every weekend if need be. Each matcha is delicately crafted and the taste is beyond. You can tell there is true intention with the flavors and the pairings. I also love that they do not mask the flavor of the matcha with all these added sugars.... pure maple is the only sweetener on the menu! The service is also quick for the demand.... and even if you have to wait a little, it is well worth it. I love the decor and how intentional they were with the decor, seating and respect to the culture. read more
On my side of the IG algorithm, Equitea has been popping up all over my feed. I thought the matcha craze was over but it's just coming to Baltimore and this place is evidently very buzzy because the founder went to LA to launch and caught Gweneth Paltrow's eye and now she's an investor? I am always scared of very instagrammable drinks bc they are usually a let down. This was my second time there, the first time I went way too late in the day and the line was insane and by the time I got to the front of the line, they had to pause taking orders as each latte is hand made. The staff were great and handed out matcha wellness shots but the wait was too crazy, so I ended up just getting a crobagel (croissant bagel combo) and leaving. I was hoping they would have the best croissants here but they're from Fresh Baguette which I've tried at the Farmers Market and it wasn't my favorite. Equitea is currently at the old JGBG restaurant and the space is HUGE. I tried their OG matcha and with added honey it was closer to $8, which is pricy. I will say the foam and the burnt marshmallow was unexpected. Because of the affiliation with Goop I thought it might be healthy but it's not necessarily good for you. I do want to try their matcha flight and was very impressed with the latte, the staff cares very much for their art but be prepared to wait, they are going to have a permanent home in Baltimore so unlike me who was panicking to get there to try it before they closed, you can rest assured they are sticking around! TLDR: be prepared to wait, but the matcha is good, not the BEST ever but certainly the best I've tried in Baltimore! read more
The absolute most gorgeous strawberry matchas around and so delicious! I've been meaning to make my way to Equitea and happed to stumble upon it today when I was in the area for an event. The building is beautiful and spacious, with a good amount of seating and beautiful natural light. The barista was also kind and the drinks came out so fast! The matcha itself was super refreshing! I would add simple syrup next time I get it, but honestly not 100% necessary, even without additional sweetener it was delicious and I am so excited to come back and try the lavender! read more
This is an amazing pop up! A friend and I planned to meet up here and we are so glad we did! First, I've admired this building for years and have never been in. The place itself is nice with big windows and plenty of seating. Second, the people were amazing! Incredibly friendly to match their artistry of beverages! We both asked for help in selecting drinks, and the feedback given was spot on! Third, and arguably most importantly, the food and beverages are expertly crafted! The drinks are gorgeous... my friend had the lavender matcha and literally exclaimed on first drink. She's a big matcha fan and she was thrilled! I had the Earl Grey option.. now mind you, this is only my second time having matcha. It was very well done, but unfortunately, I don't think matcha is my future. But you know what is? CROGELS! The pastry case was beautiful and we tried the croissant-bagel concoction: A+. Winner. Yes. They told us the pop up will be going into June - and they will have a more permanent spot in Remington soon. I love to see a small business like this do well... so get your matcha and pastries on folks! read more
If you haven't checked out the Equitea pop up yet, please carve out time to do so! Taking over the space recently vacated by Doppio Pasticceria, Equitea is serving up what I would argue is the best matcha in the city and doing so with an inspiring story and passionate team. I stopped by right at opening (8am) on a Friday on my way to work and was warmly greeted by co-founder and CEO Quentin Vennie himself, who was holding down the fort for the morning. What a wonderful conversation we had, chatting about not only his company but also, of course, all things matcha. After pouring me a sample of freshly cracked coconut water for a "sweetness level" taste test, Quentin further demonstrated that Equitea is all about the little details. You can rest assured that thoughtful consideration of quality and a genuine commitment to making each customer's day even the slightest bit better lie at the core of Quentin and his company's mission. I ordered the lavender matcha latte and picked up the coconut water option for a colleague. The lavender was the perfect morning boost with well-balanced floral notes that elevate rather than dominate the delicious matcha base. Great Matcha , Great People Period !! We opted for the Strawberry Matcha with Honey & Oat milk . This drink is the perfect blend of Earthy , Creamy , fruity , slightly sweet goodness . read more

I'm so glad I had a chance to go to equitea while it was popped up! We went right at 8am which I highly recommend, as they note on a few signs around the place the wait times can get very long. The seating was cute with plenty of natural light and the matcha was delicious, if I have time I'd love to go back and try another combo! I would go for the matcha and not any extra food as everything else was nothing to write home about, but overall a great delicious experience! read more
First of all, I had one taste here and I've been hooked. So going to Equitea is weekly visit for me which I use as self care. The owner, Quentin, is such a humble, welcoming and genuine being. I love the care and attention he puts into making each crafted drink. I love how unique the ingredients are, like having apple sugar and maple sugar to sweeten the drinks. The space is large with adequate space to sit inside and outside. Equitea will change your perspective of the "grassy" flavor of matcha, and make you a life time lover. read more
