We visited Equus Run while spending the weekend in Frankfort. Will was our tour guide and was amazing - so knowledgeable and passionate about wines and the wine making process! He even let us try a Concord grape right off the vine! The grounds are beautiful. After our tour and tasting, we sat on the porch for the live music and shared a charcuterie board. The wines tended to be a little sweet for my taste but that didn't impact my experience - we got to sample 6 of the wines (our choice) and I did enjoy the Equestrian Chardonnay. It was a wonderful was to spend the afternoon!

We were actually looking for the distillery that was supposed to be in same area and saw this winery. Turns out the distillery was at the same place. It looked empty but we decided to go inside the tasting room and to our surprise there were several people at the counter tasting and it was really cute inside. A beautiful wooden table and chairs were right when we walked in. We decided to sample the wines and the Chardonnay and the Cabernet were delicious!! They have many different wines they make and you can choose 6 for $10. We then asked about what the distillery makes and they make brandy and tequila. You can only buy the spirits there they do not sell anywhere or ship. I bought the red and white wine and a bottle of the bourbon barreled tequila. The young guy behind the counter was very sweet and helpful. Definitely glad we stopped here and you should too!!

Easily accessible off I-64 with tastings for purchase. Must say they have remarkably cute labels on their sweet wine collection. Small area inside and a disengaged staff member this visit, questions annoyed him and we left empty handed. When weather permits the grounds look amazing and a outside sip would be a nice event.

Equus Run was a pleasant surprise to the Kentucky wine scene. The grounds are beautiful and inside minimal with rustic accents. They grow the Chardonnay, Pinotage, and Cabernet Franc on the grounds; all other grapes are brought in and finished on site. Their tasting was $10 for (6) tastings which was very modestly priced. The staff warmed up to our group which was great to share the background of the winery, recommendation of wines, and other events the winery has to offer. The group's favorite was the Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Pinotage. I highly recommend stopping by if looking for a good winery in the Lexington area.

What a great little vineyard! We arrived just as they were opening. There were grapes being loaded into the presses which we were invited to try. We chose to have a wine tasting and, really, none of it was bad! We each took home 2 bottles of excellent wine. The bartender was amazing and the tasting was reasonably priced, as were the bottles. Will definitely return whenever I'm in the area.

This is a former tobacco farm converted to a very scenic Winery/Vineyard with some good wines. Found this on a recent trip based on it's reviews (thanks fellow reviewers) so we picked up lunch and headed there for a tasting. We bought Shakin the Blues (blueberry), Grenache Noir and Bella Rosso (a Port style), and had a bottle of Reisling for (a long!) lunch. This appears to be a popular place but there was no wait at the tasting hut. The grounds are very scenic, surrounded by horse country.

Had a great visit to the winery. Lexi was very friendly and made our trip very informative as she went through our tasting describing the wines perfectly. Highly recommend the winery for visit!

We had a great visit to Equus Run to celebrate July 4th. The 4 of us have very different likes for wines, this winery was able to provide something for all of us. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming! The grounds and gorgeous and having a kitty is a bonus! Definitely will return on our next visit to the bourbon trail.

Looking for a quaint, relaxing place to enjoy time with friends? I highly recommend Equus! This local vineyard produces its own wine, located slightly outside of Georgetown. I've tried pretty much all the wine they offer and they have all been delicious. I recommend the Grenache Noir. They also offer some snacks, including a nice charcuterie plate. In the warmer months, there is usually a live band playing ( I believe on Sundays?). There is plenty of outside seating, but many bring their own chairs to have a picnic or social gathering with friends. The garden is beautiful in the spring and summer, all also grown by the Vineyard owner Cynthia. Needing to stretch your legs? You are free to take a self-guided tour throughout the grounds. I believe there is also a guided tour available to see the "behind the scenes" of wine making. Parking is easy and pl;entiful. Also, it's not far at all. From the Hamburg area, it takes me around 20 minutes at most to get here.

Omg. So much fun because of Lexi. Amazing gal full of information. Great sales technique and 12 bottles purchased - we are leaving. lol.

Strongly recommend taking a tour! Cynthia, the owner did such an amazing job at explaining all the differences in their wines and why they make them certain ways. Not only was the wine good, but it it was so much fun walking around their large property and going to the amphitheater and the creek. Everybody was so welcoming and we loved the atmosphere, will definitely be back!

The initial impression as you pull into Wild Turkey is that this is a manufacturing and industrial site first and foremost. While that does take away from the initial "wow factor" as a guest, it is understandable. Once you get past that, you arrive at the visitor center, which has a view that is absolutely incredible and outdoor amenities that would make hanging out there quite enjoyable. Unfortunately, the inside experience at the gift shop left much to be desired. We did not do the tour, so this is only based on the visitor center and retail experience. Upon entering, we were greeted by a friendly face and directed toward the gift shop. The bartender was friendly, but the other three employees had their heads buried in their phones and did not seem concerned with our experience or offering help. While that may not be unexpected in some places, at a location like this, especially after visiting Buffalo Trace earlier in the day, it felt very subpar. The bottle selection on the shelf was fairly standard and did not feel much different from what I could find at a local liquor store. Some prices also seemed higher than local shops. Of the 15+ bottles we purchased today, none were from here. We considered trying a flight or a few samples, but the prices felt more reminiscent of a downtown bar than a distillery tasting experience. While we were not on a budget, the feeling of being overcharged deterred us from moving forward with the samples we had been interested in. I will not say that I would never go back, but I would not put this at the top of our Bourbon Trail list either, unless maybe for the views and a picnic.

There are two buildings and you check in at the one building, near a parking lot, but then get on a tour bus and they take you to the other building, which has the gift shop. It seemed a bit counterintuitive to start at the other building, then. Before this, I was super hungry, so we went to their bar area in the gift shop and ordered the charcuterie, which ended up just being like a metal box with some meats, cheeses, and other things, and a bag with a few pretzels in it. Disappointing especially for $33, although it kinda worked out because we only had a half-hour before the tour. I didn't know that Woodford Reserve has actually only been around since 1996 but the campus they purchased has buildings from 1890 and later - I would've loved to have heard more about that history even though it wasn't technically Woodford's. At the end of the tour, they return you to the gift shop and that's where you do the tasting - there is a private tasting room. I should probably note that we did the basic tour - it was $35 and my husband said you could get a similar tasting to the one we got, in the gift shop area, for $30, which made the tour only $5, which isn't bad. I did end up buying a pin, a magnet, and a sampler box of their bourbon treats (chocolates etc. - expensive, at $46 or so, but looks good) and my husband bought a few of their bottles. However, next time we are in Louisville we can probably skip this one, I'm thinking.

We arranged a tour of the facility in combination with a river cruise on the Kentucky River. We signed in for our tour early, so we could shop in the distillery gift shop. We learned the history of the distillery, saw how barrels are made, transported and stored and saw the bottling process for the Blanton bourbons. We concluded our tour with a tasting of four bourbons and a sample Kentucky Bourbon Ball. Unfortunately, the tasting was a bit rushed for us. The bourbons were good and I would have liked to make additional purchases after the tasting, but we were not able to because of the timeline for the river cruise. Parking is free.
