Upscale, fancy, and the most expensive feel compared to the other distilleries we visited on the bourbon trail (Buffalo Trace and Makers Mark.) We didn't get a tour here, since they were already sold out. Follow the advice of all online guides and don't buy the basic tour in every distillery as it will be very very similar. If there were availability, I'd have gotten a cocktail class/more advanced tour here. Even with the bar area, gift shop, and the super cozy seating area, it is worth a stop. Also nice grounds in the back that has shade. Don't expect any elaborate food and plan accordingly.

We did not eat at the Reserve but we did take a tour and it was excellent. Our guide did an amazing job walking us through the process and the grounds were beautiful. There is so much history in the buildings and it is well kept. Our guide also did a nice job during our tasting. You could tell he was proud of the product. The tasting room was BEAUTIFUL and it held a lot of people. The gift store is also really pretty and you definitely could stop in just for that and get a drink or two at the bar and sit in by the fire and relax.

This is a beautiful distillery but my least favorite tour of the three tours we've taken on this trip (Rabbit Hole and Stitzel-Weller were the others). There are two buildings and you check in at the one building, near a parking lot, but then get on a tour bus and they take you to the other building, which has the gift shop. It seemed a bit counterintuitive to start at the other building, then. Before this, I was super hungry, so we went to their bar area in the gift shop and ordered the charcuterie, which ended up just being like a metal box with some meats, cheeses, and other things, and a bag with a few pretzels in it. Disappointing especially for $33, although it kinda worked out because we only had a half-hour before the tour. I didn't know that Woodford Reserve has actually only been around since 1996 but the campus they purchased has buildings from 1890 and later - I would've loved to have heard more about that history even though it wasn't technically Woodford's. At the end of the tour, they return you to the gift shop and that's where you do the tasting - there is a private tasting room. I should probably note that we did the basic tour - it was $35 and my husband said you could get a similar tasting to the one we got, in the gift shop area, for $30, which made the tour only $5, which isn't bad. I did end up buying a pin, a magnet, and a sampler box of their bourbon treats (chocolates etc. - expensive, at $46 or so, but looks good) and my husband bought a few of their bottles. However, next time we are in Louisville we can probably skip this one, I'm thinking.

My husband enjoyed a tasting at Woodford Reserve. I don't drink bourbon, but I did purchase two jars of bourbon cherries for drinks. My husband purchased the Woodford Reserve Double Double Oaked.

What an absolutely beautiful distillery! We came down for the KY Derby and wanted to stop by a few distilleries. Woodford is must stop on the trail. Great drinks, beautiful scenery and one of my favorites! We were able to have a personalized bottle of Woodford etched with our names.

Gorgeous property with a wonderful bourbon experience! I'll come back to do a tour, but for today, I just stopped in the check it out. The visitor center is super nice with a great selection of gift items. I'm not sure there were any "deals" like what you can get at Buffalo Trace, but I picked up some confectionery items and a bottle of their Wheat whiskey. I'm excited to come back and do the tour with some friends, because the property looks amazing.

Whether you are a bourbon fan, or not, touring Woodford Reserve is an experience we recommend. We took the distillery tour, exploring the historic buildings, learning first hand how they make their famous bourbon. Seeing and smelling the fermentation process was my favorite part (tasting the final product was the other favorite part for our group!). This is truly one of the most unique distillery tours we have done. The guides are knowledgeable, explaining the history and current process. A unique feature to see was the tracks that they roll the bourbon barrels around on throughout the property, using gravity so they only need a little nudge to get moving. After the tour we did a tasting. It's amazing how different each sample is from the other depending on the process. Learning the correct way to taste bourbon was also helpful... the more you know. If you find yourself on the bourbon trail, you should take the time to at least visit the grounds... your taste buds will thank you. Lentz_explore

Woodford Reserve Distillery offers a refined, elevated experience that feels thoughtfully crafted from start to finish. The higher price point may deter casual visitors, but for those who truly appreciate bourbon, it's well worth it. The tour is outstanding, and the staff's depth of knowledge across every aspect of the operation really stands out. If you're a bourbon enthusiast, this is an absolute must-do.

Woodford was the first bourbon that I enjoyed drinking. I was looking forward to visiting Woodford Reserve. I should have done a little more research and ended up in Versailles, Ky. Which is where the distillery is located. The sign on the freeway is a little misleading. However, this was still a beautiful location. It was a beautiful building and very comfortable inside. The grounds outside were beautiful. I ended up getting a flight of bourbon, getting the traditional bourbon, a rye and my favorite which is the double oaked. My biggest complaint was the service that I got. I went to a lot of distilleries on my bourbon tour, and everyone was really friendly, but I didn't get that naturally friendly service from Woodford. She was not rude in anyway but was not super pleasant. I still enjoyed my visit. When I find myself back in Kentucky, I'll make sure I go to the Woodford Distillery. Woodford makes some great bourbon. If you're not familiar with them, please stop by whether you're at the distillery or not. I highly recommend the double oaked.

I have a confession... I don't love bourbon. Like it, yes, but I came here to celebrate someone's birthday so I wasn't expecting to really enjoy myself. We had a fantastic tour guide, Jeremy, that felt like a friend as he really connected to all the tour guests. The tour wasn't that long and I would have liked to see more but he was so informative! Sure, give me a history lesson but when he explained why barns in Kentucky aren't red, that was neat. During the tasting I was amazed at being able to smell the differences! I also very much appreciated the (very small) tasting to pair with the bourbon samples. Back at the visitor center/gift shop/bar I bought a drink and didn't realize it came in a souvenir cup, so that was a nice surprise. I even enjoyed it enough to buy a bottle to take home with me!

Great ambience! Beautiful ground as well walked around! Smelled like money Prices were priced well and there was something for every budget. The guys had an answer for everything we asked, very knowledgeable and good conversation starters! We didn't eat the food but the restaurant looked amazing! So clean and well kept!

I've visited Woodford Distillery a few times over the years. However, it's not easy to get a tour day of in season Spring and Summer. The drive is beautiful into their grounds. My visits have been limited to their awesome gift shop. Everything you can think of branded Woodford. Plus all the booze too! Everything I saw could be purchased off the shelves. So I did not purchase. I look forward to getting a tour and tasting in the future. Would recommend this quality distiller of fine bourbon.

After visiting another distillery in the area, we stopped in here. It's a really pretty area and the building that has all the merchandise was really nice. It was big and open and designed well. We walked through the shop and my husband found some bourbon he was interested in, along with a few other things! Our wallets were definitely a little lighter when we left!

    Is the tour Handicapped accessible?

I would call to be certain. This is a smaller distillery so not too bad to get around. You do take a shuttle bus from the visitor center down to where the buildings are that hold the stills and barrels. Most of the distilleries had stairs but I…

We will never waste our money here again. Service was awful, appetizer burned, both duck and steak were overcooked. My meal was supposed to come with asparagus that was no where to found. When I inquired about the side, I was told that the asparagus was ground up in the half dollar size polenta cake. SERIOUSLY?? Duck portion was less than 4 ounces (mostly fat). . $45 for a tiny filet. These folks are trying to play at being a real restaurant when all they're really doing is robbing people blind with sub par food and service. One person covering 5 (yes, 5 WHOLE tables). Even on an incredibly slow night service was awful. I don't know about anybody else out there, but I don't have $200 to throw away on BS restaurants. Especially disappointing on your anniversary. Let we not forget the wines, no brands listed, that tasted like watered down crap. The only reason their Facebook says 100% recommended is because they delete any reviews that say otherwise, Trust me and skip this one. Go to Carsons, Corto Limo or Guiseppes for amazing food and service. Guess I should have ordered the hamburger. Live and learn.
