Their…read moreequipment and practice is outdated (my new dentist showed me the diff between their X-rays and newer ones and it was significant) so they do not have a preventative approach and therefor missed a lot in my mouth--only told me I needed to replace fillings by the time that was the most extensive pressing in my mouth, and do the lid fashioned eyeball approach vs using advanced tech. I ended up with extensive preventable decay (cavities in all my molars) and may even need to get a root canal now in one of those leaky filling teeth even though I had been seeing them regularly. They just don't have the contemporary resources to be comprehensive and avoid issues before they're huge enough to see. They also still regularly use Mercury/amalgam fillings and have heavily promoted fluoride paraphernalia in the office (to their credit no one was aggressive or pushy towards me about it, they were very professional and easy going). But it's something to keep in mind perspective wise if you're seeking a dentist. Good for cleanings but for anything else in my experience it's worth the trip to Scranton (or even Hawley). Teeth are for life. They're great people but this is my honest review. My difference in experience between here and my new place in Clark Summit was night and day.

Call 1: Approximately 11am - I am immediately asked if I would like to hold. Sure, no problem, I'll hold. 10 minutes pass without a single "we'll be right with you". I hang up. I am now irritated. Call 2: Approximately 2pm the same day. The phone is answered by a woman who talks to me for about 15 seconds, and then puts me on hold. 11 minutes and 33 seconds pass. I hang up. But today me and my lovely wife were very impressed with Dr. Hamel's office. Just go...you will not regret it. I have been to a few dentist in the Poconos, and not one tops Dr. Hamel and her staff. I was greeted by a very professional and friendly receptionist named Maureen. Shortly after I was called to the back by Dental Hygienist (Mindy) who took my x-rays and did a cleaning. I have been to many dentist in my life, I have to tell you Mindy is an artist with her hands and dental tools. I have to also mention another Dental Hygienist (Sandy) that took care of my wife. Both Sandy and Mindy were true professionals and are very good with their tools. Dr. Hamel..so gentle and honest. Integrity and trust is paramount when choosing a dentist. She examined me, addressed all my concerns and explained a needed procedure very well. Make an appointment and see for yourself. I only have on MAJOR complaint - not going to this dentist before today. I have lived very near to the Doctors office and it took me 10 years to get into the office (my fault). Don't make the same mistake as me and go see Dr. Hamel for your next dental visit. Thank you Dr. Hamel, Mindy, Sandy and Maureen.
