This review is based off my attempt to make an appointment and the staff working at this office, and not specifically for Dr. Hamel's capabilities. Call 1: Approximately 11am - I am immediately asked if I would like to hold. Sure, no problem, I'll hold. 10 minutes pass without a single "we'll be right with you". I hang up. I am now irritated. Call 2: Approximately 2pm the same day. The phone is answered by a woman who talks to me for about 15 seconds, and then puts me on hold. 11 minutes and 33 seconds pass. I hang up. I am now pissed and decide to Yelp my lovely experience. Dear Dr. Hamel, You may be a lovely dentist, but you need to teach your staff how to handle phone calls. Those of you who know me, I only write reviews when I am wowed with a service or meal...and these days unfortunately that doesn't happen as often as I wish. But today me and my lovely wife were very impressed with Dr. Hamel's office. Just go...you will not regret it. I have been to a few dentist in the Poconos, and not one tops Dr. Hamel and her staff. I was greeted by a very professional and friendly receptionist named Maureen. Shortly after I was called to the back by Dental Hygienist (Mindy) who took my x-rays and did a cleaning. I have been to many dentist in my life, I have to tell you Mindy is an artist with her hands and dental tools. I have to also mention another Dental Hygienist (Sandy) that took care of my wife. Both Sandy and Mindy were true professionals and are very good with their tools. Dr. Hamel..so gentle and honest. Integrity and trust is paramount when choosing a dentist. She examined me, addressed all my concerns and explained a needed procedure very well. Make an appointment and see for yourself. I only have on MAJOR complaint - not going to this dentist before today. I have lived very near to the Doctors office and it took me 10 years to get into the office (my fault). We had the opportunity to meet Dr. Hamel and her staff while visiting the Poconos. My wife,s implant bridge came off and needed to be recemented. Dr. Hamel offered me the use of one of her rooms to recement the bridge and her assistant graciously had everything set up for me. I tried 3 dentists when I moved here and none of them could compete with the level of care I had received before moving here. I finally found Dr. Hamel and have been her patient for over 4 years. Her staff has always been courteous and kind. I get get an appointment when I need one, and once I arrive to the office I am always seen quickly. The hygienist I have seen, Sandy, is very professional and does a great job. bi-polar dentist...nuff said...i worked there 5 years ago and can attest to it...i could care less but i wouldn't say this if she hadn't sent my BF a "record release" discharging him as her patient simply because she let me go...yeah...real professional...he did nothing to her and i did nothing to her, i'm a 46 y/o who worked in 2 other medical offices and an insurance company for decades without any problems or provocations until i worked there for her...was one thing after another because she had an undermining person on her staff who turned out was the one sabotaging her appointments etc. she and i were the only ones who had access and knew how to work the schedule for the hygiensts and the dr...it took me a while but i figured it out...she let me go because i was honest with her and told her i had to find a FT job to support my daughter and I after my husband left or i'd be homeless...some Christian she claims to be BTW to hire someone else to replace me while i'm still there...simply because i needed to survive and find another job and to not have her put out money on uniforms for me at that point...doesn't pay to be honest i guess read more
