Havening techniques and other techniques have helped me (someone who defaults to over-intellectualizing) get out of my head and into my body which I've found is imperative for healing emotional trauma. With all that said I'm really here to share my experience with the Neurofeedback training done with Rebecca Turner. Having done so much healing and reprocessing through talk therapy, I still felt that my thought patterns were like a hose turned all the way up, whipping around, unable to catch, and control, soaking everyone around me. The initial brain mapping (which is done first to know what areas of the brain to target for training) reflected with tangible data what I was experiencing inside. Ms. Turner described it to me like "your two hemispheres are yelling at each other" which turned out to be one of the most validating things my brain has ever heard about itself. The neurofeedback training process itself is not as complicated and/or intimidating as the name sounds. If one is doing eyes open training, you essentially attach some small sensors to your head using a conductive goop and watch a tv show while the screen brightens and dims in response to the information collected by the sensors and neurofeedback program. For "eyes closed" training, you listen to lyric-less music while the music adjusts the volume to help train your brain. And it all works. I feel good about myself. Shame is now a passing emotion instead of a state of being. Rumination is down ten-fold as my hemispheres aren't "yelling at each other". My thoughts and feelings don't control me as much and/or send my on a downward spiral. If you are someone who feels your emotions are often become too much for you to handle that even standard therapy couldn't alone help, might I suggest neurofeedback?

This review is not a critique of her ability as a therapist, but rather the manor in which they began strictly enforcing late rescheduling fees. Due to work, I had to reschedule(not cancel) an appointment approximately 38 hours before my scheduled time. Their policy is 48 hours. 3 days later I received a superbill for an automatic late charge fee of $200. When I asked about the charge, their response was curt and uncompromising. Because of this, I chose to part ways. I have never been charged such a fee by a health care provider. Once long term relationships are established with health care providers, it is generally assumed that there is a threshold, a certain amount of leniency/forgiveness in situations like this. For further context, my wife had previously been under long term care with their practice for over 13 years. I hope this helps others know what to expect when engaging with this office and practice.

I've worked with Sasha Carrion for nearly 5+ years through completely different seasons of my…read morelife--business expansion, emotional blocks, physical trauma, fear, and major life transitions. Sometimes we've worked briefly on one issue; other times, consistently for months. Every time, I'm amazed by how quickly and deeply her work affects me. I've experienced talk therapy, journaling, mindset and spiritual work, and other healing modalities before hypnosis. All valuable, but Sasha showed me that understanding a pattern and actually changing the subconscious belief underneath it are two very different things. I am extremely analytical. I can analyze a problem from twenty directions and find twenty more. Sasha is one of the few practitioners who can meet me at that level without allowing my analytical mind to become an obstacle to healing. She knows how to get underneath it. Most recently, we worked weekly for 4+ months during one of the most destabilizing periods of my life. I was experiencing deep depression, recovering from a traumatic plastic surgery experience, and simultaneously dealing with an escalating HOA legal dispute. It affected my mind, body, recovery, home, and sense of safety. At the beginning, I could go from hopeful to terrified within minutes. Sasha didn't just tell me everything would be okay; she helped my subconscious begin to feel safe again. As new fears appeared, we addressed them before they became permanent beliefs. Eventually, I watched myself respond differently. Things that months earlier would have completely destabilized me happened, and I found myself thinking, "Okay. We'll handle it." And meaning it. Actually feeling calm. The external circumstances eventually began resolving too--far beyond what I believed was possible. But that isn't even the result I value most: The journey to the resolution did not destroy me. When I couldn't access faith in the outcome, Sasha could. She would tell me, "Borrow my faith." And I did. She held a vision of healing, safety, and resolution until I could believe in it myself. Empty reassurance doesn't work on me; Sasha's words have power because there is genuine conviction behind them. She understands me and is genuinely invested in helping me move forward. I trust Sasha deeply and respect her intelligence, intuition, compassion, and mastery of her craft. She validates what I'm experiencing while helping me change the pattern keeping me there. I've also realized I don't want hypnosis to be something I use only when something is wrong. I think of Sasha as an exceptional trainer for the subconscious. We train our bodies to become stronger--why wouldn't we give our minds that same support? There will always be new desires and expansions revealing new blocks. Sasha helps me move through them instead of building my life around them. Working with her is one of the most valuable investments I've made in myself--not simply because she helps me resolve problems, but because she has helped me become someone who moves through problems differently. And if you're skeptical about hypnosis, I understand. It has never felt like surrendering control of my mind. It feels like communicating with the part of my mind influencing me all along. You can consciously know you're safe while your body feels unsafe; you can understand a pattern perfectly and still repeat it. That gap is where this work can be transformative. 5+ years and countless limiting beliefs rewired and goals achieved later, Sasha is an invaluable part of my support team and someone I recommend wholeheartedly. She is a powerful healer, gifted hypnotherapist, and deeply intuitive and compassionate human being. She has held hope, calm, and possibility for me until I could hold them myself. Perhaps the greatest evidence that this work works is that I've needed to borrow those things less and less. The greatest compliment I can give Sasha's work is this: It changed the version of me who was going through it. And once that version of you changes, everything else has the opportunity to change too.

She referred us to another pediatric ophthalmologist for detailed testing. That referral changed everything. One of the most concerning moments was when he told me that my childhood trauma was my "perception." I shared that my mom would wake me up in the middle of the night to console her through panic attacks. I then asked him if a child being molested by a parent would also be "perception," and he said yes. He later clarified that perception doesn't mean it didn't happen--but using that word felt extremely invalidating. When I expressed that, he dismissively responded, "Okay, I just won't use that word if you don't like it." Throughout our sessions, he emphasized "self-control." When I shared that I believe control and self-control are often used to push away feelings, he immediately told me we could not work together. When I tried to explain my perspective, he shut down and refused to share his own thoughts. During that same session, he disengaged almost completely--remaining silent and appearing to stare me down. He said he didn't want to "argue," but I was simply expressing how I felt. Therapy should be a safe space to communicate openly, not one where a therapist withdraws when challenged. There was also a situation where my wife stormed out of last session because I didn't want to spend our 45 minute session going through a 50-page workbook. I preferred to do that outside of session time. Despite this, Dr. Robbins placed the blame entirely on me. And because I kept urging Dr. Robbins to look at the underlying root issues in our relationship, he acted very childishly by using that same approach in a crude way on me. My wife lost our family 500k by gambling it away in stocks and crypto. He asked how it made me feel and what trauma that was coming from. Obviously, it makes me feel like I don't matter, but I want to break the cycle of my childhood trauma where boundaries were not allowed, and I want to set boundaries with my wife. When Dr. Robbins heard that, he didn't care to respond, because his main goal was to one up me by using the root cause methods I was urging him to use. At another point, he asked, "Where do feelings come from?" I said the inner child, and he responded, "No, it comes from behavior." I am always talking to my son about feelings and emotions, and after the session I told him what Dr. Robbins said about feelings not coming from the inner child. My six-year-old son's immediate response was, "what the h*ll." Even my six-year old son is emotionally smarter than Dr. Robbins. I would not recommend working with Dr. Robbins because he uses his pain and his coping mechanisms to dictate the session. After ten sessions, we had no real improvement in our relationship.
