Either there is a super secret entrance that I didn't find or the just were not open. Kind of disappointing to drive all the way from Cordes Lakes to Prescott and find them closed. Plenty of folks lined up along the walkway not sure if they were all there because they expected it to be open. Some had their belongings with them which caused me to speculate that they likely are experiencing homelessness. I do hope they are getting the services they need from both Salvation Army and the City of Prescott. Not sure I'd bother to make the trip again despite my desire to support this organization.

The program provides a safe and warm place for homeless men. A meal is also provided for men and women. After the meal, the women are transported to other shelters. However, the bathrooms and showers provided for the clients have been shut down since June. The culprit is a mold issue. That's 5 months. Here it is Oct. 3rd and still the issue has not been fully resolved. A house can be built in 5 months! That's a chilling example(yes, that's a pun) of how poorly management runs the operation. The washing machine and dryer are key to the successful operation of the program. The are also unavailable due to the existing mold problem. Will the program start on time? Good question. We donate many items to them because of their commitment to the local community. We know of several folks that volunteer by working at the facility. You must get donations dropped off before 2:00pm though. We have also found items to purchase for use at home eg replace a broken crock pot top, a lost appliance cord. Etc etc. We are downsizing and selling items on eBay, Craigslist, FB etc is a pain it's so much easier to donate and you can get a receipt for tax deduction.

I wouldn't have given much thought to either of these interactions on their own, but because the whole experience was negative, I feel the need to share it. It was also strange when I went last Friday at 10 am and the doors were closed. Phone went straight to static. A lot of people walked up to locked doors and were confused as to why there wasn't a sign stating they were closed. A woman told me that she had a lot of valuables to donate and will be going elsewhere. Sad! Indeed, there's a sweet story behind the name that you should ask about when you visit. Their prices are average to low, depending on what you're buying. The selection of books and records is massive, well-organized, and really cheap (25 cent paperbacks, 50 cent hardcovers). They have average clothing prices, and a wide selection of sizes. I only had 45 minutes or so to poke around, but I could have spent hours! I ended up with a couple books and a set of ceramic coasters. Worth a look!

They don't mind if a man is rude to countless people, rips off hundreds and hundreds of people for years and years, as long as they keep pulling in those dollars to keep those recovery people coming in and working the thrift store, they do not care how badly Aaron treats their paying customers. Or if he is charging the prices that are posted. I'd be willing to bet dollars to doughnuts that if a woman acted the way Aaron does to customers, she would have been FIRED years ago. The fact that there has been SO many complaints about him for years and years, and not one disciplinary action has been taken, shows his behavior is ALL FINE AND GOOD. He deserves a paycheck, and security in his job, because..... he's ...a man? What could be the reason he still has this job, and nothing about his attitude changes? The only way to try things on is over your clothes. That works for tops, but not so much for pants. Other Goodwills in Arizona keep their fitting rooms locked. That used to be due to Covid, but now they won't open them due to people trashing them or stealing in them. I have found some great bargains here. As with most Goodwill's, pricing is inconsistent. Some clothing items are overpriced. Kid's clothes should not be priced as high as they are. But their prices seem to be largely better than the competing Goodwill on Iron Springs. One of my better finds was a duffel for the gym. Paid $4.99. Books are also priced well. The employees are friendly and helpful. Parking is ample. This is one of my favorite places to shop. Nice clean bathrooms too.
