Eric Michaels is an awesome hairstylist! I moved to this area in 2022 and after trying two other places that were very disappointing I booked an appointment with Eric. When I arrived we talked about what I wanted done. He was not only a very good listener but very pleasant to talk with. He made me feel comfortable with ease and assured me he'd fix what I referred to as "this mess." While he highlighted my hair we stuck up a lively banter with others in the salon. It was a very cozy charming place and I felt welcomed. After giving me the best shampoo I ever got he got to cutting. We agreed on the length first and as soon as he started blowing it dry I knew the highlights were perfect and the cut was awesome!! I knew I'd found the right place and the right hairstylist. I walked in feeling like my hair was a mop of dried out straw and I walked out feeling like a million bucks! If you are looking for a new hair stylist, look no more! A couple of weeks ago I decided I needed a pick-me-up and thought getting my hair done would be a good start. That said, I booked an appointment with Eric Michaels in Pittsboro. I didn't go with a specific hairstyle in mind, just the realization that I needed something new, something that would lift my spirits. I left it up to Eric to decide what to do and boy did he deliver! Now I realize this was a leap of faith on my part, but I honestly didn't know what to do with my hair, it was outgrown and shaggy and there wasn't anything about it that I liked at that point. When I got in the chair, he of course asked me what I had in mind, and I told him the truth, I didn't know what to do with it I just knew that I didn't like what it had become. He then studied it, fluffed it, studied my profile with it up, with it down, and decided on what he thought would look good. And then he went to work and let me tell you, I have never (and I am not a spring chicken) loved a new hairstyle as much as I love what Eric did with my hair. The man truly has a gift, not just a talent, he has a gift. How he took the mop that was on my head when I got there and turned it into hair that I now love, is beyond me. I felt a thousand times better when I left his salon and will go to him for as long as he is there and cutting hair. I was not informed that Michael's was an ala carte deal. I went there specifically for the price. $75 for a perm. I did not need my hair shampooed, nor did I need it trimmed, nor did I need it conditioned, dried and styled. He asked if I wanted those things without mentioning any extra costs. It totaled $130!!!!! As for the perm itself, he put the perm product on and left for at least 30 minutes. Could this be the reason for it Not turning out? So much for curls. I'll not be back and nor will I recommend. read more

As a new customer Eric took the time to ask me what I liked and what I wanted in a cut. My hair had been cut twice by my daughter during the shelter in place and my color had grown out. I came in with a bad cut and half gray and half dark brown hair. Eric took his time to remove them dark brown as I wanted to see what I would look like with gray hair and he encouraged me to stay with my instinct toward trying out the gray. My cut is sharp and edgy and the gray is awesome. I LOVE my hair and I had a hair stylist stop me the following day to ask if it was my real color or applied color. I am new to the area but I have found my hair stylist which is huge! Thank you Eric. read more

This is the beginning of a love affair. I am new to the area and so desperately needed a visit to a hair salon. I did my homework on which salon would be the best fit since I have a few "issues" with regard to my hair. Words can not describe how wonderful I felt when I left Eric's chair. I wish I had Eric Michael cut my hair to start. Kelly not only didn't know how to cut my hair after she started, but she also walked away in the middle of the cut and had Eric fix it, which I have now heard has happened before to other men. Not only is my haircut uneven (especially the sideburns) but I also have a very noticeable chunk shaved off above my left ear. I chose this salon because it had the best rating (probably because Eric is awesome, but he shouldn't put his name behind the cut I received). Overall very unsatisfied, it is a pity because it is in such a convenient location. read more

My husband and I have been customers of Eric Michaels for over a year and all we can say is how great a stylist Eric is. He really takes the time to listen to your care and concerns when it comes to styling your hair which is quite rare these days. He is a true artist when it comes to the latest current styles for your hair. His salon is inviting and warm and really makes you feel at home. Eric is the type of stylist that you would stick with for years to come! One of the other impressive things about Eric is that he takes time and does not rush through your cut or styling. $75 for the best perm I've had - but I won't go back again, and here's why. He completrly-soaked the back of my shirt the fist time, but I overlooked that because tje perm turned out so good. He really knows how to roll hair, and do a good perm. The 2nd time I went in for a haircut, and was charged $75 , and later learned a should have been $50 . still, I went back for a 2nd perm, which again turned out great, BUT he was apparently in a big rush to eat his dinner (!) (yes, I had an appt, was not a walk-in) - and I realized a day later, when my scalp was burning, that he must not have rinsed the perm out sufficiently, in his haste to good eat. Never had that happen before. I won't go back again! read more

Eric Michaels is awesome. I had my hair basically destroyed by another salon and he was able to fix the color and make recommendations to get my hair back to its normal length and texture. My color came fantastic and the cut was perfect. I found my new stylist!! read more

Love, love, love it. New to town from L.A., I used the Brazilian Blowout website to find a certified provider (the humidity here is no joke), and there was Eric. His salon in Pittsboro is beautifully-maintained and just his, so there's no chit-chat happening around you to drive you up a wall. He did a fantastic job, spending 2 hours carefully and thoughtfully straightening each strand. He charged WAY less than expected, and I'm very happy with how it's turned out. This salon is conveniently located right in downtown Pittsboro. When you walk in, you are greeted with a clean and classic atmosphere. Eric is amazing. He takes his job seriously and really wants to make sure that you are going to be happy and look your best. He is also very sociable and easy to talk to while you are getting styled. I would like to highly recommend Eric Michaels. I came to my appointment with several photos of a hairstyle I thought I might like to try. We discussed the particular style at length, then Eric spent all the time needed to give me an unhurried and precise cut. I am very pleased with the results. I decided to go to the Eric Michael's salon in PBO after my previous stylist (at Salon Blue) moved. I had a friend who's hair color was just FABULOUS and when I asked where she went, she said Eric Michaels and said he was VERY good. I wasn't sure what to expect, but called him up for an appt. He talked to me at length and even asked me to send him some pictures or links to his email of what ideas I had for my hair. I don't normally color my hair, but wanted to do something different. When I arrived, he was running a little behind, but I didn't mind the wait. His Salon is like nothing else in PBO--beautiful, modern, upscale decor! I felt like I was some place else entirely! And he offered me wine while I waited. When it was my turn, he went over the color charts to discuss color options/ideas. He also let me know about the Brazillian Blowout, which I'd thought about doing for years but hadn't had the courage/opportunity. He talked me into it, and I love the results. I have very coarse/frizzy hair that's impossible and takes a lot of time to blowdry/straighten... and w/the blowout, I feel like for the first time in my entire life I have "normal" straight/silky hair. I only deducted 1 star because I mentioned wanting a particular cut (inverted bob) and said it was the only cut that looked good w/my hair type and profile/etc how it's what I always get, but how I had let it grow out because I'd been busy. When it was time for the cut he asked me why I wanted to do the same cut if that's what I always did, and then proceeded to give me a different cut, which had short layers in front and longer in the back (basically the opposite of what I normally do--longer in front and shorter/piled up in the back). It has taken me a few weeks to get used to it, but it is a cute cut--just not what I'm used to. And I've gotten lots of compliments. And w/the investment of the brazillian blowout, he was probably right to leave it longer. Anyway, I will definitely be back and highly recommend this Salon! read more
