My niece had a deviated septum and was referred to Dr. Eric Yavrouian. From her first consultation experience to her post surgery follow-up appointments her experience with the doctor and his staff has been amazing. There is no feeling like the feeling of being dismissed by a doctor because the doctor had already predetermined he would not help me. I was referred by my primary care doctor due to a cyst in my sinus discovered but CT scan. After the intake, the doctor comes in and says, "Why are you here?" I was discouraged by his flippant question but responded that my primary care doctor had referred me to ENT due to a cyst in my sinus. Without even looking at the scan he said the cyst is nothing and they don't do anything about them and he again said, "Why are you here?" I added further that I have been coughing a lot and draining. He pointed out that coughing is below the throat and ENT only look at throat and above. So I reiterated that my sinus keep draining. He then rapidly looked in each ear and each nostril and said they are clear. He said he would write a prescription for fluticasone nasal spray and said it would be enough for a year. These doctors think they are so important and high and mighty. He didn't like my appearance it seems, so he did not take my concerns seriously at all. Well you know doctor, my time is valuable to me. If the sinus cyst is nothing, then it would have suited me much better to get a phone call saying, "This is the office of Dr. Eric J. Yavrouian. You do not need to come see us in person as that cyst i your sinus is nothing and we will not do anything to remove it." This appointment was a waste of my time, my gas, and the small expense for parking. I have been treated better by the attendant at the parking lot. read more

I went to visit Dr. Yavrouian in regards to a second opinion for a deviated septum - septoplasty surgery. My primary ENT surgeon at the time was requesting septoplasty, inferior turbinate reduction, concha bullosa resection, and endoscopic sinus surgery. During my consultation with Dr. Yavrouian, he advised that I didn't need the sinus surgery and only the septoplasty and inferior turbinate reduction surgery. He believed the other ENT surgeon was going to perform surgeries that didn't need to be done. Furthermore, I realized during my visit that Dr. Yavrouian, he had performed a more thorough and comprehensive examination than the other surgeon. Feeling like I was in good-hands with Dr. Yavrouian, I asked if he'd do the surgery. He humbly replied that in no way shape or form was he performing the consultation to get my business in order to conduct the surgery himself. I told him I understood and wanted to continue with him. Two weeks ago I had surgery for an umbilical hernia. There was a complication from being intubated (tube down the throat) that caused damage to my uvula. The bottom half of the uvula turned black and blue then turned white. It, along with my throat were pretty banged up. From what I could see online, it appeared I had uvula necrosis and needless to say I was very concerned, especially since my voice is crucial to my work. I contacted my surgeon and my PCP and was given a referral to Dr. Caroll who is a partner in Dr. Yavrouian's office. Dr. Caroll was going on vacation and the receptionist asked if I'd see another doctor in order to be seen quicker. Thinking my condition was very serious, I said of course. Things went south from there: The receptionist kept telling me that uvula necrosis wasn't an urgent situation and I asserted that what I found online in peer reviewed articles contradicted her opinion. I asked if she knew what uvula necrosis was and she got defensive and said she knew where the uvula was located but she didn't "have to explain herself to me". I saw red. I demanded to speak with the office manager and was told she wasn't available and was told I'd have to wait more than a week to be seen. Needless to say, I was...displeased. To make a long story short, I left a message with the office manager, contacted my PCP, my insurance company, and wrote two scathing reviews on Yelp and Google. I went with the nuclear option, which was overkill but I was feeling vulnerable, in pain, and scared. My primary gripe in the situation was that a receptionist, besides being rude and unprofessional, was diagnosing medical conditions and determining their worth. The next day, I received calls from PCP, my surgeon, the anesthesiologist and then Dr. Yavrouian. I also received a call from his office with an opening the next day. I went in and was seen by Dr. Yavrouian who apologized for his staff, genuinely, and then he examined me. The doctor was very professional, courteous, direct and clear. He was adamant that my uvula was not necrotic and would heal in a couple of weeks. Since then, my uvula continues to heal as he predicted, and the doctor has twice followed up with me. It was a very rocky start but Dr. Yavrouian proved he is not only a well-educated and talented physician, but also a compassionate professional and one who cares for not only his patients but the professionalism of his staff. read more

I could not have had a better experience than Dr. Yavrouian!! After being referred to him for another issue and getting a multiple year long ear related issue taken care of within minutes, I decided to book a consultation for a possible rhinoplasty/septoplasty and I never looked back. Both Dr. Y and his staff, especially Kim, are extremely good at what they do. They are kind, professional, and from start to finish took the time to answer any questions/ concerns I had at any point throughout the process (including after) when I called during business hours. Let's start from how impossible it is to get an appointment with both offices, after finally getting an appointment in their Pasadena location ( they failed to advise about parking situation) I was late 30 min front desk lady was super nice she allowed me to go back and get my Id. Waited over an hour to see him only for two minutes. To say my infected ear is good while I currently still have symptoms of a fungus, he said my throat had no concerns since it's only been 5 days so what you're waiting for me to get worse so you diagnose it? My nose which has a severe blood cloth in it he blamed it on dermatology and how I wasn't even supposed to go to him. Dr my nose is the problem not the skin. I appreciate your two min visit yesterday it was complete waste of my time. I will be sure to advise my primary dr to never send anyone here and I will be sure to report to medical about dr performance and bed side manner. Dr.Yavrouian is a genuine professional! I've had trouble breathing since I broke my nose about 13 years ago and he managed to correct my respiratory issues. I am shocked that there aren't complaints about this doctor posted on Yelp! I was sent to Dr Yavrouian as a referral from my primary care doctor due to an ear infection. I'm always pleasant, mindful of the Doctors limited time and place my trust in - not only the doctors competency - but his bedside manner, as well. I had an appt w/Dr Yavrouian 2 hrs ago and I'm still in shock and reeling over my experience w/him. Due to my right ear being clogged, having limited hearing in it and being in near excruciating pain, I was hopeful that Dr Yavrouian could offer me relief. After checking my ear, he told me he'd have to clear out old, "cemented" wax which had built up in it so and which had been causing me this problem. Without any explanation as to what this would entail, Dr Yavrouian stuck a rather sharp object (a wax removing tool, I presume) deep into my ear and began to jab at the hard wax. I almost jumped out of the chair; this was so painful. Rather than to utilize one of the primary rules of being a doctor ("first, do no harm") and to explain to me what he was doing; Dr Yavrouian became angry with ME! I'm not kidding you, he was MAD. In a very impatient and condescending voice, he told me, "Look, if you don't hold still I can't get at the wax causing your problem!" I told him my reaction was involuntary; as if he'd just stepped on my foot with his heavy boot and I'd reacted accordingly. He did not deny that he was causing me further pain, in fact, he said, "I know, but do you want the wax out or not?!" Another hard jab into my ear took place and had me struggling to remain still but I flinched, nonetheless. That was it, this doctor was p***ed at me. "YOU HAVE TO REMAIN STILL!", the man, literally, yelled at me. After, yet another prod which had me seeing stars since my entire head was in pain, this doctor said, "I can't help you since you REFUSE to remain still". He grabbed his clipboard and left the room. I wasn't sure if he was returning and he did not tell me to follow him, but from his actions he was, clearly, done with me and made it apparent I'd wasted his time. I went to the reception desk where he was writing something down and handed it to the receptionist. "Put these drops in your ear and come back in two weeks", he said then walked away. I left thinking to myself, "What just happened?" I had been pleasant, patient and kind during my visit; why wouldn't I? There was absolutely nothing wrong with my attitude nor behavior nor, even my appearance yet this doctor was abrupt, dismissive, condescending and rude to me because of my innate, natural "reflex" (jerking in pain when he prodded my, already sore inner ear). My entire head was throbbing when I left and I immediately had to go home and take Advil because of the excruciating pain in my right ear, Most patients are given pain killers or a numbing shot before undergoing a procedure that might be invasive and painful to them. This doctor just took a sharp instrument and jabbed it inside my, already inflamed and painful ear! Then he was mad at ME! If I could give him zero stars, I would. I'm still on the fence about my next step in this process but this horrible doctor has to be reported to someone about what took place during my visit today. All I can say Dr. Yavrouian is the best ENT/Plastic Surgeon ever! I was so worried about my nose fracture since I had a rhinoplasty 12 years ago, and I really didn't want to go through another surgery. He did a perfect job fixing my fractured nose that was caused by a trauma. He did closed nasal reduction procedure on my nose at his office, and he was able to put my displaced/ fractured bones in to the right place.
