As long as I'm living in NYC I will continue to go to her for my hair care needs. Here are just a few reasons why: 1) she uses O&M products for color. I try to be as clean as possible when it comes to my beauty products, and this is on of the best non-toxic brands on the market. It's hard to find a salon that uses them. I was hiking an hour each way to a place in meatpacking to go to the actual O&M salon and was sooooo excited when I walked by her salon one day and saw the products in the window. She does a better job than O&M with their own products too - one time O&M let me leave with a full patch of gray not covered and an uneven haircut LOL. Thank god for Catherine - she NAILS it every time. 2) she listens - she knows I'm generally low maintenance with my beauty routine and gives me a cut and color that are easy to maintain, but look effortlessly great when air dried, and lays just right when I DO blow it out. Another thing I appreciate is she TEACHES me about my own hair. I lost a lot of hair due to stress during the pandemic and one day she pointed out that I was actually experiencing a lot of hair regrowth, and took the time to help me understand the difference between breakage and new hair growth. 3) Cezanne treatment - worth every penny and changed my life. It's a great slightly less toxic alternative to keratin and it works beautifully. I have low porosity hair with a couple different (subtle) curl patterns and A LOT of frizz. The treatment helps my natural waves shine (literally and figuratively) and I don't get lost behind a halo of soft frizzy wisps. It has never been so easy for me to look polished with minimal effort. I was clear that I wanted to maintain some of my wave/natural curl, and so she was very careful to not over-correct. Could not be any happier and will 100% be doing it again. 4) she cares - I had a muscle spasm last week and still in a little pain before my appointment yesterday. I was concerned about the hair wash portion, but she took such good care of me. She offered me a heat pack while I let my color set for a half hour, and she was super careful while washing my hair. I felt confident in Siobhan's ability to cut my hair into the style I showed her due to her years of experience, and she nailed it. I came back a few days later and Terrance added blonde highlights to complete my desired look. Terrance is very knowledgeable and explains every aspect of the process. It was such a relaxing experience. In the end my color came out beautifully and my curls still feel healthy and bouncy. This was my first time coming to the salon, and I will definitely be returning -- no complaints at all. I came in needing color correction, and Brandi took her time to do it right. It ended up being about five hours with two rounds of processing, but I never felt rushed or overlooked. She was very attentive throughout and made sure my hair stayed healthy, using a lot of conditioner and including a protein treatment, which I really appreciated. Brandi also has a lot of personality -- she's fun, welcoming, and keeps the energy up, but at the same time she's very efficient and quick with her work. You can tell she really knows and loves what she's doing. Instead of going straight in with heat, she set my hair on rollers and had me sit under the dryer, which gave me a smooth, beautiful finish without unnecessary damage. My hair came out looking amazing -- the color is exactly what I wanted, and it feels just as good as it looks. The total came out to around $200 (and i tipped extra), which felt fair and to be expected given the time, care, and multiple processes involved. I came here in August to get my first keratin treatment. I have incredibly curly thick hair and was just so tired of fighting with it. I wanted to try something to smooth it out and had done some research on keratin treatments. The first time I got the treatment here, I really liked it. My hair was really smooth and so easy to style. It didn't revert back to a wearable curl pattern but I was ok with that as I wanted to wear it straight. At around 3 months, I started losing more and more hair to breakage which made me question if it was time to return for a re-do or my hair was damaged and I needed to take a break. I returned to the salon, explained what was happening to the stylist and she examined my hair and told me it's just time for another treatment. She then applied the product to my hair from root to the tip of my hair and sealed it etc. I waited 4 days to wash the treatment out which was her guidance. When I did, pieces of my hair coated my entire shower. Literally handfuls of my hair were breaking off. If I just look at my hair, it breaks. I'm shocked I even have hair left on my head after how much hair I've lost. When I went to get my haircut, the stylist was shocked. She said I just have to cut everything off over the next few months until my new growth comes back. I can't wear my hair out until the fall so I have to keep it braided down for the next 6 months. I cried so hard while she cut away everything I had. I used to have the most beautiful hair and now literally all of it is gone. My new stylist actually thinks the woman who did my keratin used a relaxer and double processed but either way, she said it's the most damage she's seen in years. I just feel so betrayed and violated by this whole experience. I just have no idea why someone would do something like this. I'm truly devastated.
