The customer service here is unfortunately not up to the standard of the haircut and expertise of the stylists. Upon trying a product a stylist recommended (the 4th product I've bought based on her recommendation), I found that I strongly disliked it. Enough to email to ask to return it. The customer service person said no. I shared that I'll be sure not to buy their products any more as they have no consideration of their customers, whereas (unfortunately) if I bought the same product at Sephora or Amazon then my return would be accepted. read more

It all started here with wanting a simple Balayage and ended up with me hemorrhaging money constantly. First time I came here I was charged for bowls of bleach and left with a 90's highlight that grew out awful when wanting a balayage. She tried to fix it a second time and it was a no go. The assistant manager then fixed my hair at another location. She recommended Id go to a certain stylist the next time around as she's not there all the time. Two months ago I went back and unfortunately my hair started to turn an autumn orangish color. The stylist didn't use foils which is what my hair had needed to avoid this problem. I also feel the right toner was not used properly. When I emailed Aicha to get in touch with the owner for a partial refund of the $500 I had spent on this mess, I was ignored. Complete ripoff for the services. It was my sis's wedding day so I made an appointment for our hair & makeups to be done. Not much complaints on my hair. The style was a tad old fashioned but Jessica my hair stylist did a very nice job with it so I loved the look! Unfortunately I can't say the same for my mom's hair. Her hair stylist did such a bad job that I had requested Jessica to take over for my mom's hair. She did a great job again. Sis's hair came out very nice, have no complaints on that. Now comes the makeup...... I requested a natural smoky look with contour. Ilene did my makeup made me look like I came from the 80's. The makeup she put on me was VERY heavy on my face and the whole session took 10 minutes. NONE of the brushes used on me was clean. They looked like they've been sitting out session after session for days. The foundation used did not match my skin tone so I came out looking brown from yellow. She did a terrible job with my brows and wings, I had to request for it to be redone multiple times. I'm a very small petite girl so imagine 1" thick brows on a tiny face. No finishing spray. For $92 (makeup ONLY, excluding tips), this was a huge disaster. My mom's makeup came out looking nice and natural. Her session took 10 minutes as well. For 10 minute make up sessions, $92 is absurd. Overall, for a ~$600 visit, the services we received was very underwhelming and I will not be returning. read more

I'm glad I wasn't wanting to feel relaxed, because this certainly isn't the place if you're seeking a SPA experience. Greeting was fine, got right in and was asked to sit down in a chair that clearly hadn't been wiped down in a few days. Place was pretty dusty and dingy in general. I was consulted and then moved to a chair to be washed. I had to wait for someone other than my stylist to wash me, but rather than disappearing, she just hung out, texted, bickered with another stylist about why she wasn't washing ME yet, and then addressed me as if I had heard nothing. I don't mind waiting, at all. Just could have done without the immature fighting in the background. Ya'll are grown a** women, right? While being washed, the two working side by side chatted about how ' I'm totally done with today - God, I hope this is my last one, I'm totally done. ' As a client, this always makes one feel super taken care of and wanted. I mean, wouldn't you? I just wish I was treated more like an asset and less like a chore. Would not recommend for spray tans at all. Literally the worst spray tan I've ever gotten. I ended up with very tan and splotchy hands and feet, but my legs and body were only mildly tanned. No blending cream was provided for hands or feet either. Looks very uneven. Definitely not what you expect for a $60+ spray tan. read more

I'm a low maintenance girl and I don't really have my hair and makeup done. I go to Chinatown for a $20 haircut so going to this place, even for my wedding, was brand new to me. I was actually going to do my hair and make up as well as my bridal party but my sisters were appalled and got me to make an appt here for my special day. I'm glad I did because I loved how I turned out. Everyone was beautiful as well. My mom, my 3 sisters, 1 friend and I got our hair and makeup at 11am and we were out by 2:30pm. The price is a little steep but you know that coming in. It's well worth it and the staff were friendly and awesome. I was in touch with Daniella, the bridal coordinator and she was just lovely. I am giving this salon 3 stars because my color looks fantastic and the salon itself is very nice, but I won't come back. My stylist was very sweet, and as I mentioned, she did an amazing job with my color, but my haircut experience was not great. I like to have a really funky, extreme graduated bob, with it very short in the back and long in the front. When I tried to explain this to my stylist, she gave me what she thought I wanted, which was something slightly longer in the front than in the back. It didn't look like I had gotten a haircut. She then blow dried it and it looked pretty boring. To her credit, she did try to work with me. I asked her to thin parts out, and she did, but she kept telling me how my hair is going to be disconnected. I am not a hair stylist so I don't understand what she meant. While she did what I asked her to, and in the end it turned out looking ok, she made me feel bad about it, comparing my request to when "Sometimes people want half their head shaved". She kept saying "I'm doing what you want" which made me feel like she thought my hair looked like crap. Once I was up at the front, paying, people kept complimenting my color and she would say "Yes, the color looks amazing. We had a disagreement about the length but she got what she wanted." What that read was "Yes my color is good but don't blame me for the hair, I did what she asked for". Even if i made her give me a mullet, I feel like I shouldn't be shamed for that. The salons I used to go to in my old neighborhood would never back down at a chance to do something really fun and creative, and make me feel good about it. I don't think any of this was done with malice, but it made me feel really bad about myself and the haircut I just spent a nice chunk of change on. I wish the haircut experience had turned out better because my color really is spectacular, but unfortunately I think I am going to have to try another place next time. I think the work they do at DaNoi is very nice, but I am not sure if their stylists' sense of what looks good meshes well with mine. read more

First time here, found this salon through the help of yelp! Seems like it is best salon in Bay Ridge. I have really long hair (took 3 years to grow) and I needed a touch-up (cutting dead-ends, trimming my bangs, etc). Through past experiences of bad hair-cuts, I haven't let anyone touch my hair for quite some time until now. Hair wash: I had a girl named Elise, she was a sweet girl and I don't know if it is the techniques that are taught at this salon or it was just the way Elise washed hair but I don't think hair was thoroughly washed. It felt like it was just a quick shampoo and condition, and then off to the stylist! Nevertheless, it wasn't a big deal. Haircut & Blow: I had a girl named Jennifer - she was amazing. Sweet girl and basically catered to everything that I wanted done with my hair so I am very happy with the results =) I believe Jennifer was the first girl I have ever went to that I was extremely pleased with my results. Service: Front desk girls were nice, upbeat and attentive so nothing to be said here. In addition, they also offer a variety of services along with technicians that have different levels of experience which also affects the price ranges. This review is for a blow out only. I was greeted immediately by the staff who offered me a cup of coffee and checked my coat. My stylist was Carolina who was very pleasant. The positives, the price ($20, even though my hair is pretty long), the speed, and I think my hair came out great. I requested it to be sleek, no waves or flips. The negatives- the mirrors are very far from the chairs, I'd say at least 5 feet, so it was hard for me to see my hair. Also, she didn't show me the back and seemed very surprised I wanted my hair to be blown out straight. Also, I felt she was moderately advertising the salons other services on me. (Not too pushy but a little bit on the annoying side). Lastly, the salon charges a $3 fee on services less than $35. Other helpers have written that this is illegal. I'm not sure it is or not, but I'm willing to guess this violates the NYC consumer laws. I've never seen it anywhere, and I understand the credit card companies charge a fee to be used at these business but I know it's not 10%. Overall, I'd give the salon a 3.5 and I would return. read more

I had 2 Amazon Local vouchers for a Basic Mani Pedi, so a friend and I went Friday morning. Prior to this, I had only had my nails done twice and none of those times would've warranted a 5 star review from me. When I saw all the positive reviews on Yelp, I was really curious to see what made them so special. I mean...wouldn't someone just cut my nails and put polish on them? First of all though, let me say that I was running a bit late and they were very nice about it. My friend had the appointment right after me so they even called her to see if she'd be willing to come later. Immediately upon arrival, I was wowed. It already looked so much more put together than any other salon I've been in and when we got to the reception desk, they offered us coffee! It was pretty good too. Maricel was our nail technician and she was very pleasant. My friend and I kept going back and forth with our nail colors, and she seemed very patient about it. I was also very surprised with the amount of time she took with each one of us, considering I got there late. I really expected the whole experience to be rushed but it wasn't like that at all. She also didn't give us any hassle when we wanted to mix different polishes (using one as a base layer with a clear, sparkly layer on top). And she even fixed my broken nail! As my friend was getting her nails done, somebody came up to me and offered me WINE!!! O_O THIS part is what really won me over. It really made me realize how accommodating they truly were...and of course free wine always makes me happy... I can say that my friend and I came out feeling very pampered and we LOVE our nails. They're soooo pretty! I really wish I could wear sandals just so I could show off my awesome toenail polish... If you go, try the OPI Liquid Sand stuff they just got. It's a glittery polish that dries matte so it's just a right amount of sparkle. Alas, I don't see myself going back too soon because it is a bit pricey. But recently I had a hair disaster and got a round brush so tangled right near my scalp that I thought I was going to have a big bald patch to get it out. I was in distress and called to see if they could help me and they said" yes come here now". As soon as I walked in Erica and her assistant got to work and got the brush out with minimal damage. She spent close to 3 1/2 hours on me and let me tell you it was work every second and minute because my hair looks phenomenal! Thank you Bella!! If you have naturally curly hair, beware. I thought long and hard about leaving this review. But after having my hair (and makeup honestly) turn out looking so horrible and seeing others on their Instagram turn out so beautiful, I knew I had to say something. The fact that they didn't even ask to photograph me for their Instagram speaks volumes. Da Noi on Fifth was recommended to me for a bridal hair trial. I also had my makeup trial done. To say I was unsatisfied with the service I received would be an understatement. Don't get me wrong, the staff members were very nice and friendly throughout. And I have seen many others leave their salon looking beautiful. I, however, left almost in tears and feeling like a frog. I entered the salon having washed and semi-styled my own hair. It was very frizzy because I had run out of my normal products. Instead of rewashing and styling my hair to ensure the best results, they worked with it as it was. The end result was a frizzy, ugly mess. Other stylists gave me pitying looks and tried to reassure me that it looked great. It didn't. The pictures I showed her were of a half updo with NO teasing and perfect curls. So what did she do? She teased my hair. EXCESSIVELY. As a curly girl, I absolutely hate teasing and she didn't even ask me if it was okay first. My hair ended up looking like a beehive. She also took it upon herself to trim the scraggly little curls she framed my face with, again not asking if it was okay. From the back, my curls looked just as frizzy and dull as they did when I arrived. Any suggestions to make it better were met with some variation of "we can try that out the day of". What??? No. As for the makeup, that is a whole other story. Honestly the experience was a nightmare and I would not go back there anytime soon. read more

My daughter has very straight, difficult to curl hair, so I intentionally made an appointment with a higher priced "artistic designer" so the hair would be styled properly. Not once did the stylist ask about her hair type, nor did she do anything special to ensure the style stayed in place. She sat under the bonnet dryer for longer than she was in the stylist's chair, and literally 30 MINUTES after we walked out the curls were already drooping. I have been getting Ouidad cuts for a very long time. I moved to NYC about a year ago and had been putting off getting a haircut because I thought the Ouidad flagship salon was my only option in the NYC area. The cuts there run from $120-$160 depending on your stylist's experience which is a lot more than I was used to paying before I moved to NYC. I was so happy to learn that Da Noi also does Ouidad cuts! I paid $85 for my Ouidad cut (might be more depending on stylist's experience) which is much more reasonable than Ouidad's flagship. Marco cut my hair, and it looks fantastic! The complimentary wine and the shorter trip from my Brooklyn apartment will definitely bring me back the next time I need a cut. read more

We had each others cell phone numbers, kisses hello and goodbye, asked about the kids etc. Texted said stylist when I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer after my oncologist told me to cut my hair short. She was like, yes come in tomorrow. Was charged 50 dollars for a haircut plus tip. As most of my hair felI out during the haircut, she talked about herself .
