But also this barber shop is levels above a local inner city barber shop, it's more avant garde but not TOO fancy and stuffy. It's a very cool place. Maybe the Raf Simmons or Rick Owens of babershops. It's highly respected amongst the classy but cool enough for the young and fly guys. Obviously Rich is the head designer but he has a slew of guys beside him that are great cutters. I usually get a Dark Cesar tapered sides. Rich uses the best equipment SC or Babyliss pros. I think mornings are best to book your appointment.

Somehow, however, Jose (the owner) has managed to make the new set-up feel like a regular, relaxing barbershop with the old school feel, while also making it much safer than other haircut places around here. For example: a couple months back, I went to a (decent) place in Sunnyside for a badly-needed haircut; they made do however they could (plastic dividers, masks, etc.), but they still had like 10-20 people in a relatively small indoor at the same time. Sitting still for 30 - 45 minutes with complete strangers and little to no ventilation isn't something I'd like to do unless I HAVE to these days. The Woodside Barbershop on the other hand has managed to avoid all of that, by setting up appointments (which you can easily book in advance) so you come in for YOUR 30-minute haircut. Just you and Jose, who takes real good care of your hair and is engaging/fun to chat with into the bargain. Will definitely be coming back here soon.

The first time was for a regular haircut and herbal facial. Those were great. the second time I came, I got a head shave. It was great. Should be noted that the first chair (closest to the window/entrance) took care of me those two times. But this third time is why I'll never return. Came to get a head shave today. I sit down and nothing is quite remarkable about it, except for the fact that the guy cut me MULTIPLE times. I kinda shrugged it off the first time, but it kept on happening and he guy acted like nothing was wrong. That alone wouldn't make me hesitate to come back, I would just sit with someone else, but the unforgiveable part is that he wiped away the blood, every time, with his thumb. I can't think of anything more unhygienic. The other thing is that he had a paper towel hanging from the frock to wipe the excess hair off of the razor, but chose instead to use the palm of his hand. Again, just seems super unhygienic. I legit went straight home, took a shower, then soaked a paper towel in alcohol to dab my entire head. I was worried about it getting infected. I'd give the place one-star for this experience, but the first chair guy is good people and did me right. I don't see myself coming back here. Maybe it was just the one guy that's bad, but I just can't risk that again.

My wife and I came to this place for a quick haircut on our way up to New York to celebrate our anniversary. I should say the service was exceptional, and the cut was good enough (wife had bangs trimmed and i got a cut). My haircut was a little short, but that's how I like it so no worries. The only problem was when Arsen Shamalov stumbled over to us halfway through our cut and called my wife a cunt. I told him he was being rude, to which he brandished a knife and told me he'd "cut my tits off". He reeked of alcohol and at some point started running around the barber shop blowing cocaine out of his nose onto peoples' hair while screaming "WHO WANTS PARMESAN CHEESE YOU N-WORDS?" That is an exact quote. He also kept asking if anyone had seen his dog, and at some point the barbers had to drag him into the back where we could all still hear him shouting that Jews were stealing his silverware. My wife couldn't stop crying so we paid our bill and left. In conclusion, I recommend you get a haircut from Eric's and everyone else who reviewed this place is gay. Signed, Dr. (_)_)::::::::D P.
