Literally spilled a shot of Casamingos Reposado all over my 2-in-1 Lenovo laptop and my keyboard stopped working. What a waste of good Jalisco succulent juice (tequila). Unfortunately, since my IT department for work is in Los Angeles and not having any geeky friends in NorCal, I turned to the next best option, the Yelp App! Upon a quick search on Yelp, I came across Eric's Computers. I noticed that a Yelper I follow, Shelli H., had also gotten her computer serviced here based on her 5-star review. So, I sent her a quick message and she vouched for them. However, she warned me not to be freaked out by their location because they do all their geeky tech work out of a garage 1970s-Steve-Jobs-style. After calling Eric's Computers, I spoke with Julian who told me that their hourly service fee is $55 per hour and to order a replacement keyboard for my specific laptop it would cost $36. He said that once the keyboard arrived, most likely, it would not take more than an hour. Once the keyboard made it to Eric's Computers, Julian called me again and said to drop off my laptop anytime and added that the fix would take no more than a day. When I pulled up to Eric's Computers, I realized that Shelli H. was not kidding. They are located in the garage of a residential dwelling at the intersection of Elm Street and Pacheco Street near Baldwin Park. Less than 24 hours later, I received a call from Julian that the laptop had been fixed. I went back to Elm Street and picked up my repaired laptop. Definitely no nightmare on this Elm Street. When there's something wrong In your computer now, Who you gonna call? No one! Please email or text, calling on the phone is rude! (and here you thought I was going to do the whole "Ghostbusters" thing, heh heh) Well, something did go wrong on our computer, and between figuring out beep codes and the inability to even boot, I had to get ahold of *someone*. Enter Eric's Computers, with some of the highest computer repair ratings on Yelp in this area. Eric has at least two other people working with him, and I dealt with them, so I never met Eric. But everyone I worked with was knowledgeable about the issues, got to the problem and fixed it, and helpful. They even put another program on our PC to help maintain it better. Eric's has a website that's easy for us amateurs to use, too. I thought I'd be paying a LOT to get this thing fixed, but their charges were very reasonable. The PC works great now. Quick note: Eric's Computers is a home operation. You're paying for the expertise, not the beautiful office. The home is in an area of pretty, well-maintained older homes. This home, however, is overgrown with trees and shrubberies; looks horrible. This is likely to be a turnoff for many people. In that case, they can do pickups and dropoffs with their van. Bottom line is that Eric's Computers has top-notch computer service at a good price, regardless of his office space. read more

I was impressed but the ability to accommodate me with a next day appointment. Once the technician (the owner) arrived I immediately showed him my son's gaming PC and explained the problem- no video output. After about 10 minutes he came down qnd said he would need to take it to the shop for a diagnosis which would 2-3 days. Coming home from vacation I went to check my email. NOTHING. Black screen. Thinking Oh No, I have bills to pay and emails to return and taxes to do and of course Yelp reviews to write:)! I have pictures and files I cant lose! Quick search on Yelp and I decided to call these guys. Friendly on the phone and said no worries! They could come out to my house for I beleive $110 an hour or I could drop it off for a few days and it would only be $90-$110 bucks for the problem they assumed it was. I dropped it off that afternoon. It is ran out of a home (from the garge, I think, atleast thats where my husband dropped it ). They were nice and quickly took our info and said they would call. The next afternoon I called for an updat and was told I had like million virus on it and they were still trying to get rid of them. (me---so embarrassed). I am pretty lazy with virus protection from time to time and have teenagers always on utube. The next day they called. My laptop was ready. I know they must have spent hours on it but price, as quoted, still $110!!! YEAH!! Havent had a problem since. It is faster than ever and they reassured me there was nothing I could have done to protect it from these certain virus/ spyware and all the other crap inside my computer. WOO- it wasnt my fault! Ever since I outgrew my Commodore 64, I've built my own PCs. So, when I have a problem (like recently, when it just quietly, totally stopped working), I sometimes need a good computer shop to help me. I am delighted to have found these guys. To paraphrase Han Solo, the actual repair shop "... may not look like much, but ... got it where it counts ...." Diagnosing a computer problem requires more than putting one together. They correctly diagnosed the problem, and cheerfully gave it back to me so I could get the parts I needed (new motherboard and CPU) and rebuild it myself. Big box electronics stores typically have computer repair services available. I am sure most of the people who work in them are knowledgeable and honest. But, it does bother me that, in the greater corporate structure, the company makes more money if the repair people convince you it isn't worth fixing so you should just go see the friendly salespeople and buy a new one (even if the tech/repair operation is legally a completely separate entity). I called Eric's Computer to get help with computer that was not connecting to the internet. Xfinity said I had to call the computer help desk that something was wrong with the computer. Ugh! I am a caretaker for very sweet, hard of hearing, 80 years old woman and the internet is her lifeline. This YELP IS WAY OVERDUE!!! I have been working mostly with CURT and his support is phenomenal and so is the rest of the staff. Recently he upgraded my 11-inch acer laptop I bought at best buy several years ago on clearance for $265....it's my field laptop (I am in construction).....I increased the ram from 4 to 8 GB but the other day Curt replaced the hard drive with 1 TB of SSD and said "it's remarkably faster!" which is an UNDERSTATMENT! Bought a refurbished Dell last year. It shuts down of it's own accord frequently. Brought it into their garage office, they kept it for 36 hours, it didn't do it, so they said they couldn't fix it. It's been doing this since day one. Everything else in my house that's connected to the internet works. It's not the internet or my connections, it's the computer.
