The hard drive on my 3 year old CCTV system (hard wired) stop reading and writing. I called the original installer who wanted to sell me a new NVR to replace the NVR he installed only 3 years ago. The original installer was absolutely useless and less than helpful. I am NOT a CCTV specialist, but I know the NVR systems are relatively simple computers. On the suggestion from my wife, I called Saratoga Computers and asked them if they could replace the hard drive on the NVR. It so happened that Matt Mauer from Saratoga Computers knew exactly how to replace the hard drive on my NVR. He ordered a large capacity hard drive and replaced the defunct hard drive with the new drive in a matter of minutes. The new hard drive is an industrial enterprise HD so it should work well. The drive did not need to be formatted and started working as soon as Matt restarted the system!! We have used this company for many years and now for repairs to our CCTV system. I highly recommend this company for repairs to computers and now CCTV systems. ***Before calling Saratoga Computers, I called 6 CCTV companies around the Walnut Creek to check out my system; every CCTV company simply wanted to sell me a new system!!!! Can I just say these guys are LIFESAVERS! we had an older Imac that we use just for browsing the internet, pay bills etc. but with the kids doing distance learning it started to get a lot of zoom use. Unfortunately these were built with a flaw where the the graphics card will overheat and eventually get fried when used a lot. This happened right before the holidays and after calling around we were told it would cost somewhere between $700 and $900 for repair. (I called 2 places like ufixit etc.) Even though this is an old imac that we planned on eventually replacing we werent really prepared to do that right now as we just bought the kids 2 new laptops and we only used this downstairs. We brought it to the apple store in Walnut creek and they told us there was not much they could do. We wanted to get our data and the technician referred us to get a 2nd opinion at Saratoga Computers which he highly recommended. Anthony helped us when we came in and not only was he knowledgeable of the problem----he gave us the pros and cons of fixing it, but he also backed up our data. He also gave us a much lower quote at half the price compared to anyone else. We decided to do the repair to buy us some time to save for a new desktop. These guys are the real deal. My computer crashed while trying to update my mac to the latest software. I spent about 3 hours on the phone with apple support and after attempting everything, they basically said my computer was dead and would have to be reformatted in order to function again. Probably would have been an okay option if I backed up my computer idk in the last 3 years...oops. I emailed a bunch of computer places on yelp that specialize in data recovery services since apple told me it would be next to impossible to get the files off my computer and saved. Like most people, I store everything on my computer (and clearly don't back it up) so it would have been pretty tragic to lose all my data. Took my wife's 18 month old HP laptop in for diagnosis because it was rebooting without warning and no suggested solution. Saratoga found some virus which they thought might be causing the problem. unfortunately after I took it home, it finally died indicating the hard drive failed. After my 8 year old desktop Mac "died", I had to buy a new one, and I needed to have it installed in my home office. Anthony, a professional and very knowledgeable young man spent 2 hours at our home installing the Mac, while we watched and learned. (We all wore masks). He asked all the right questions about how we wanted to use the Mac, and the features that were important to us, and how the desktop should look. He also attached an external hard drive for Back-up. And he did it all pleasantly, patiently and efficiently.
