Absolutely a beautiful shoppe, and helpful, knowledge staff. I've made purchases when in Alexandria…read moreand continue to do so from Boston. Exceptional delivery service from VA to MA. A great selection and beautiful displayed ideas for design are made easier. I wish we had this store in MA.

I am actually writing about the experience I had today, Jan 14th, with the sales lady. As we were wandering around the store looking for leather recliners we noticed the staff person pass by us, twice, without any recognition at all. As we were leaving we had to pass her and I asked a question as to how long the store had been there as we could not remember it from the past. I truly felt like I was bothering her...She responded like the question annoyed her? or? Anyway, I'm not sure but when we left the store my husband and I both commented on how rude we felt she was! There was only the 1 employee (her) that we noticed so maybe she was having a bad day but we really do not feel the need to return to Random Harvest. There are plenty of places we can seek out a leather recliner from but it was a shame as the experience left us with a bad "taste" in our mouths for the business.

Random Harvest - I don't think my cell phone does the color well. Couch is on legs and makes it look less bulky for our DC condo.

Lamplighter took care of my problem in about 60 seconds, they were amazing! I will say that it's a…read morecrazy place that doesn't appear to have a phone or email. It's a "shop" that does what it does: fix lamps. They appear to sell a few items. I stopped in, which is required since you can't call them or communicate in any way except in person, to get a lamp controller fixed. I needed a simple soldering. They got it done quickly and I was on my way. It worked immediately upon me checking when I got home. It was easy to park on the street and get this done. I love small stores like this that take care of things the old fashioned way. I realize that some reviewers want all sorts of communication options, but for a store trying to do business, running a non-profit help hotline is not really a viable approach. I wish you lazy people would stop trashing businesses because you don't get free help. And you can actually still get free help if you stop in, it's just that you are cheap AND lazy.

When I dropped off the lamp, the young man told me he'd called me with an estimate for repair. I never got a call. I couldn't call them, because they have no phone. I sent an email, and that was also unanswered. When I visited the shop two months later, I learned that the lamp was still waiting for repair. I complained about not being able to get in touch with them, and that evening received the email below. The next day, I visited the shop and encountered the owner, who was arguing with and berating another customer. She told me she was aware of the email, acknowledged it was unprofessional, and that she had talked to the employee, her son, but she didn't apologize for it. Here's the email I received: From roger lamplighterlamps.com Subject: Re: Lamp status Date: Friday, March 13, 2026 5:29 PM I once again, apologize for missing this email. Your lamp is ready for pickup. Would recommend coming in on any Saturday, so that you don't have to deal with me. And quite frankly, I don't have to deal with you. Would you like to know what else is wonderful? Me traveling a half hour into work, and a half hour back home, to do a thankless job for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. If you really want us to get a phone, I would recommend paying Verizon $40k+ for fraudulent phone calls that they know are fraudulent. -Chris
