I am actually writing about the experience I had today, Jan 14th, with the sales lady. My husband and I entered the store and the sales person did not even bother to look up much less greet us. As we were wandering around the store looking for leather recliners we noticed the staff person pass by us, twice, without any recognition at all. As we were leaving we had to pass her and I asked a question as to how long the store had been there as we could not remember it from the past. I truly felt like I was bothering her...She responded like the question annoyed her? or? Anyway, I'm not sure but when we left the store my husband and I both commented on how rude we felt she was! There was only the 1 employee (her) that we noticed so maybe she was having a bad day but we really do not feel the need to return to Random Harvest. There are plenty of places we can seek out a leather recliner from but it was a shame as the experience left us with a bad "taste" in our mouths for the business. read more

We ordered a Harrison 82" sofa at the end of January 2020 which was aprx $2900 with the anticipated delivery date of end of March (8-10 weeks). Unfortunately, we had a pre-COVID delay after 1 month of the order in process because the fabric we chose was not in stock. There was an issue at the fabric supplier factory to the furniture maker RH uses. The staff notified me of this and we worked out an agreement that RH would cover the shipping costs ($100) as they delayed nearly a month to tell us, which I thought was fair. Then COVID hit, and our sofa was pushed out to May and all of RH's employees were furloughed. Beth, the President of RH, was very responsive as we politely asked for updates. She made sure to follow up with us as the process moved along. Long story short, we finally got our sofa in early May, and it was worth the wait. Beth kept her promise to cover shipping, and the Heirloom team (shipper) delivered a "stunning" (wife's quote) sofa. The Harrison was by far the best value to quality money could buy, and trust me, I learned all about the hand-tied 8 way springs, and down cushions sofa jargon while shopping for one. I looked all over DC and I will say the RH sofa is MUCH better quality than Room & Board or West Elm, for the price. You just don't get the hand-tied 8 way springs and NC craftmanship at that price point elsewhere, and the style is modern (we are a young couple). This sofa is absolutely an investment piece and looks sleek in our DC condo. RH delivered a home run. Thank you! read more

Random Harvest has a mixed bag of both restored vintage framed furniture and new creations. Prices are moderate. Their basic schtick is that the vintage furniture is completely restored, re-stuffed and covered, and then you can pay to have it reupholstered. Very cool mix of hand-picked furniture and many discounted (but still expensive) fabric options. Re-surfacing of a love seat was around $300-$400 + the cost of the fabric. Full delivery is about $90. The 1920's, restored love seat itself was priced at $1450 covered in white muslin. The quality of workmanship seems like a a solid 8.5 out of 10. They also have stores in Arlington, Georgetown and Bethesda. read more

I absolutely love this store. We received a gift card to Random Harvest for our wedding and were excited to buy something new for our apartment. The store is meticulously well-kept and each item is beautiful and unique. My husband and I fell in love with two lamps, but couldn't decide if they would be large enough for our apartment. The store manager, Ashley, let us know we could try the lamps at home and return them if they didn't work, which sealed the deal for us (which, by the way, looked STUNNING in our bedroom!) Customer service goes so far these days, and Ashley is absolutely top-notch in her field. You'll also rest assured knowing you don't have the same Pottery Barn home as everyone else does. Random Harvest is a wonderful gem of a store in Old Town right on King Street. I shop for furniture all the time (sort of a hobby), and Random Harvest surprised me with tons of pieces and furniture that I have never seen before anywhere else. I completely disagree with the comments below. The staff here is great! I came in sweaty, in gym clothes, and not looking my best by any stretch, and felt completely welcomed by the employees at the store. If you're looking to update your home or just add a new piece, I would definitely recommend Random Harvest! read more

I just bought a lovely antique buffet from Random Harvest and LOVE it. My husband and I were in the market for a special piece of furniture to house all of our wedding china, crystal and serving pieces. What a great place to buy unique furniture! I recently purchased an antique Irish cupboard and a floor length mirror for a very decent price. My wife and I also purchase a lot of accessories from here. It's a great place to find gifts for parties, weddings and so forth. They also have a great array of vintage upholstery that we've been eyeing. The staff is very friendly and always ready to help us find what we are looking for. Random Harvest provides customers, as well as designers, a great assortment of upholstered furniture, case goods, lamps, art, etc. The girls at this location are extremely sweet, knowledgeable, and available to answer questions or find additional options for you (when available) at their surrounding locations. I have been in numerous times the past 6 months, and they have assisted me in packing up items, working with a unique client situation, delivery schedules, etc. Like most design stores, it is common to not expect the employees to haul your items to your car for you. It is respectful to both the employees that work there, managing the store, and other clients, to not have to lift heavy objects or leave the store unattended to load larger items. I am impressed each time I walk in to this location with the new items they have on display and the sales they offer to clients who subscribe to their emails. I give this store 5 stars in every way and happy to have them in Old Town! read more

Serendipity is a wonderful thing! After spending dozens of hours looking for the perfect light fixture for my dining room, I had all but given up until I found Random Harvest. A post-dinner stroll on King Street in Old Town gave me the opportunity to stumble upon the exact light I'd been looking for in the store's window. Despite countless strolls up and down King Street, we'd somehow never gone into Random Harvest. That all changed the next day, when my wife and I went to the store to talk with the staff and take photos of the fixture. After exchanging a few helpful e-mails with Ashley, the manager, my wife and I decided to order the fixture, which we did via phone. Following the purchase, Ashley and all the staff at Random Harvest were super-helpful with keeping us updated on the projected arrival of the fixture so we could arrange the installation with our electrician. Unfortunately, the vendor's delivery man errantly delivered the fixture to RH's receiving warehouse instead of the King Street store, but through the heroic actions of Makenna, we were able to go to the warehouse and pick it up that day. This was a big deal, as the electrician was already at the house working on other projects and the meter was running! I didn't want to have to take another day off to have him come back. My wife drove to the warehouse and was able to retrieve the fixture home--it's now hanging above our table. We simply cannot stop looking at it and thinking about how lucky we are to have found both it and Random Harvest. All in all, I know I now have a great store in Old Town where I can find nice furnishings and decorative items that complement our home's style. It's kind of like a mix of old school Crate and Barrel Pottery Barn, but without all the mass-market production. Moreover, and most importantly, it's nice to know there's a place where I can build a relationship with the staff over time that is more than transitory and transactional. read more

Random Harvest has some of the most beautiful home pieces and one of a kind furniture there is! I bought two upholstered chairs from there for my living room. Even better, a few months after having them one of my friends made a horrible stain on one of the cushions. I called Random Harvest and the service I received was impeccable & unbelievable. The Manager Ashely was so nice, accommodating and happy to help any way she could. Random Harvest had me send them the cushion cover back and had a company they use get the stain out and sent it back. The service was truly some of the best in the business - I was blown away by how helpful the entire staff was. Will keep me going back time and time again! read more

Disreputable. We bought a dining room table here a year or two ago. But when we got it home we didn't like how it looked. So we took it back almost immediately. No problem right? Wrong. All we could get is "store credit." And none of their other dining room tables would work, so we had to save up again to buy another, because they had our $2,000 plus delivery charges and wouldn't give any of it back. So today we go back and they are having a sale. And we find a coffee table we like. Get to the register have it all written up and the manager tells the clerk: "no, store credit can't be used for items on sale." So they have my money and they can tell me when and where I can spend it. There are many other reputable, ethical stores who will happily return your money when you take back items to keep happy customers. I recommend you use one of them and stay away from this place. read more
