I certain few times to try some bicycles and I may even stop by today. I never did any work or purchases at the store. It's an easy location looks like any ordinary Eriks bike shop. I have went to their stores in Minneapolis and Minnetonka multiple times where they have me in their system I do my repairs there for my bicycle and for my electric scooter when I get flat. Always done on time and I have never been overcharged there. I even visited the shop in St Cloud which is considered smaller than the rest of the shops and the Twin Cities. I'm very shocked by the level of 1 star views the shop is getting. I'm definitely visiting them today and hopefully I will not change my mind and edit my review. read more

I have been a customer of Eriks Bike Shop (Maple Grove MN) for more than ten yrs. ordered a bike and called was told it was ready for my pickup. I went in today and it was not ready or complete. I previously brought in three items I wanted added to the bike was told at the time no problem we can do that for you. I went in today to pick it up I was told by my salesperson the shop mechanic said he spoke to me over a week ago about my bike which he in fact did not it was a complete lie. I posted a very good review of this store in April, when my husband and I bought 2021 Specialized e-bikes, for over $6500. The salesperson was excellent. However, I'm sorry to say the service after the sale is terrible! Bad attitude; disrespect, and bad service. We have been trying to resolve a problem for almost five weeks-with no end in sight. After riding my new bike for a month, the battery dislodged after every bump. We took it in on approximately June 23. Jason (a tech) replaced a shim in the battery. It still kept dislodging when I hit a bump. We brought the bike into the store on June 30. Alex, (a tech), kept it for two days and said he would contact the manufacturer, anticipating an answer in a week. After two days we picked it up, anticipating a quick response from Specialized. Three weeks later, we still hadn't heard anything from Alex. No one from the store apologized for the delays and lack of contact from them to me. Instead, Jason yelled at my husband for using a shim out of his inventory! After numerous phone calls and at least four or five visits to the shop and leaving my bike there twice, we still had no information about when my bike would be repaired. We discovered that Alex lied about submiting a claim to Specialized prior to 4th of July weekend, because on July 19th, I received an email from Alex asking me to send him photos of the battery, bike, and serial number. Instead, I brought the bike in a third time. No resolution or information. To date, we still have not received one call from anyone at Erik's about the bike nor do we have any idea when we should expect the bike to be repaired. We've been buying bikes from Erik's for 30+ years---with excellent service. Except for the Maple Grove store. DON"T BUY FROM THIS STORE. The attitude is, "You buy a lemon, tough luck." read more

I'm so terribly disappointed with my experience of this store. My wife got me a bike as an early Father's Day present. I purchased the bike on Erik's website - I wanted to just buy from their store but due to COVID their inventory store to store is low and after calling a few stores I was told I'd have to buy online and have a bike shipped to a store. They sent me a shipping confirmation saying it was on its way to the Maple Grove store. I called to get an eta because I was so excited to pick it up! I was told that the bike was never available to sell and that their online store sold it to multiple people. When I asked to issue a refund, I was told I'd have to call an 800 number. When I called the 800 number, I waited on hold for about 10 min and then I received a message saying "due to high call volume, we're not taking calls... start and online chat... good bye". I went to their website to start an online chat and received a message saying "due to the high chat volume we're unable to talk right now but someone will email you in the next few minutes". 30 minutes later I haven't received that. I called back to the maple grove store and was connected to Mason. I explained myself and he got very defensive saying "that bike never existed - I don't know what you want me to say" ... "you should have come into the store if you wanted to avoid this" and "unfortunately, you want instant gratification and you're not going to get it"... An hour into trying to get a refund or replacement, I've paid $800 for a bike that doesn't exist and can't get anyone on the phone / or chat to sell me a bike or give me a refund. What a complete waist of time... what unnecessarily rude reaction to a mistake they made... just could have just said "sorry, we'll refund your card"... but they chose to be very condescending and rude. Being bounced through your systems and listening to Mason's snarky remarks wasn't necessary to fixing this. --UPDATE-- Good news 90 min later, Mike Burger, the store manager called me and said that if I could just drive into the store (21 miles from my house) he'd refund the card. When I said no he said "ok, then I guess I'll do it over the phone". I'm so genuinely confused by the run around it took to just put money back onto my card for a bike that didn't exist. Stubbornly, I will buy a bike from anyone but Eriks moving forward - this was an exceptionally bad experience ---- If management are reading this, here is how this could have gone more smoothly (I own two businesses, so this is just friendly advice) Me: Hi, you sold me a bike that doesn't exist - could I have a refund? You: Sure- We put the money back on your card! Me: Bummer about the bike but Thanks for the help! Was told that my bike would be ready march 23rd about three months ago, drove 30 miles to the store and asked for my bike (Witch I was told would be ready) and was forced to leave by and employe. I know spring is busy season for bike shops, so we called to find out about how long a line for a spring checkup. The person on the phone said bring it in, we'll see what needs to be done and make an appt. Great! Came in on a Sunday, waited 40 minutes due to COVID restrictions. Once inside we were told nothing major by the looks, we can have it done in 9 days. Super!! Day 9 nope not done, day 10 nope not done. No call saying we need more time, no communication at all. Note, the estimate says in bold letters "your repair will be done by 5, Tuesday" Prompt pick up...or be charged storage" Called day 11, "oh ah well hmm yup you can pick it up." Receipt shows work was done on day 11 Picked it up and it's fairly clear not much was done. Front break sticks and front tire valve stem is bulging. Charged 30 for a "Ride Ready" pkg which is to include checking air pressure. Was it that way before or after I cannot say. Either way it should not have been returned that way. I think maybe it's 30 free and clear for nothing. Total bill was $61, and I'm not sure what I got for it. Won't be returning to this shop. read more

Son bought a $2500 Specialized bike from Eric's in Maple Grove on May 17. Did not have time to ride much and took it out and the derailer completely broke. Took it back to them May 31 and they just told him the would not warranty it and he would have to pay for a new derailer and installation. He didn't even have the bike 2 weeks and maybe rode it 3 or 4 times tops and never crashed it, it just had a faulty derailer. Picked it up today and they said they couldn't warranty it because there were scratches on the swing arm. Well, yes there were because the chain kept on falling off. DUH! Won't be going back to this store and will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General's office. Poor service and Specialized should have warrantied it, but they just wanted the cash so never even checked. Bad service, rude people and they have such a big business, they do NOT care about customers. read more

Worst bike shop I have ever been to. Took my new front wheel in on 4/10/22 because two spokes were bent during shipment. The wheel was not purchased from Erick's so this was not their problem but everything that followed was. The repair was promised for completion on 4/12/22. I told them to replace the bent spokes and to make sure the wheel and brake rotor were true. I called them on 4/15/22 and they told me the spokes had been replaced and the wheel trued but the didn't have anyone who could true the brake rotor until "maybe sometime next week". I told them to forget the rotor because I could buy a new one for less money than they wanted to check mine. When I complained the repair was not done by the promised date I was told I was rude. When I got home I saw they had put my directional tire on backwards so I took the tire off to remount it in the proper direction and saw the spokes they replaced were too long and dangerously close to the tube. When I checked the wheel I could see it was very untrue. What a waste of my time. read more

Larry the sales person who sold me the bike was very helpful and made the buying experience easy. Unfortunately, it quickly went downhill thereafter. The bike has had many issues and it is unsafe to ride. Eriks answer is that this is NOT their problem since they did not manufacture the bike. Rather, we must wait for the bike mnf. to address the issues. Bottom line is that Eriks does NOT stand behind the products they sell and has made no effort to rectify the situation. Stay away, buy from a local dealer you can trust. read more

The only reason I'm even giving this shop 2 stars is because the man that helped sell us one of our bikes was actually pretty good - not pushy, very knowledgeable, etc. However, from a maintenance and repair standpoint - I'd give them a 0. Put on my initial kick-stand in such a way that the bike didn't stand on its own, my husband's Specialized bike was in multiple times for routine check-ups and repairs and always came back worse for the wear (gears that skipped, etc.) DO NOT RECOMMEND for bike repairs. read more

I am used to great service and knowledge from Erik's in the Richfield, MN location from back in the day. Maple Grove has not followed suit. Paid for a tune up on an old bike a few years back, no noticeable improvement. Got impatient and bought another bike from Erik's, it worked great until I foolishly let my teenage son use it. With a snapped derailer, new chain and $160 charge I had to wait 3.5 weeks for the repair, which is kind of expected during COVID bike mania. I tried the bike out during pick up.....all sorts of chain scraping and shifting issues. I was told 'That's the way it works' after questioning things by the front desk cashier on 6/16/2021. I thought on heading directly to Maple Grove Cycle to get and estimate, but 10 minutes in the garage with a screw driver and youtube I had things shifting right as rain. Never again with these guys. Abrasive and incompetent service.....maybe when the selection is nice by there and have serviced in another location. read more

I brought in two tires that needed replacing (one was flat). They had one tire available and one had to be shipped from another store so I was given an estimate of 4-5 days. I was told I would get a text message when the work was complete. I called on the day it was supposed to be done and was told that the tire wasn't available at the other store so they will have to secure one from another location. I was told that the tire was confirmed to be in stock and I would have my tires ready in a couple days. I was on vacation so showed up with my family on the way home from the airport days after the date I was told it would be ready only to find out only one tire was put back on the rim. They gave the same story about needing to find the other tire at another location and I advised we had already discussed this....and the tire was there and not installed. I pay for the tires after they installed the last one, just to get home and one is completely flat. I now have to go in again and see what is wrong. I feel that if they would have completed the work in the promised timeline they would have seen that the air is blowing out of the valve stem and flat in minutes. We all have stories of customer service disasters that we are quick to tell and retell. However, I need to share a story of phenomenal customer service from my personally experience at Erik's Bike & Board in Maple Grove MN. They have really set a new benchmark, in my opinion, for exceptional customer service! Last fall (2011) I went to Erik's bike shop in Maple Grove and purchased a beautiful new bike. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was a great experience. Over the next year I have visited the store many times... to get a flat tire repaired or to purchase something for our bikes... The staff has always been VERY helpful and the service has always been excellent. This fall (2012) I was in the store and asking one of the staff what I could do to help my fingers from becoming numb on long rides. The store manager, Mike Burger overheard our conversation and suggested that my bike might not be adjusted correctly. He asked me to sit on my bike so he could look for possible adjustments that might be made. Mike quickly observed that the bike I was riding was too small for my height, creating a cramping in my wrists and, consequently the numbness in my fingers. He quickly looked up my purchase record and apologized for the fact that I had been sold a bike that was too small for me. He asked for the opportunity to "work on the problem overnight". The next day, Mike Burger informed me that he had located a brand new bike, exactly like my current bike, but one that was the right size for me. What I was anticipating is that he would offer to "upgrade me" for a fee. Instead, Mike offered to move all of my customizations over to the new bike, totally free of charge and then gave me a cash credit to use for any purchase in his store, for the inconvenience. He simply asked me to give him a couple days so the new bike could be shipped to his store... I was shocked! No fuss. No arguments. No negotiation. Mike saw the problem and corrected the matter on the spot!! The new bike that Mike special ordered and setup for me is fantastic, and the numbness in my fingers has been dramatically reduced. So, I now have a new favorite customer service story to tell... An amazing customer service experience that really sets a new high bar for others to strive for. Well done Mike Burger and hats off to your entire service team at the Maple Grove Erik's Bike Shop!! read more

Great service, friendly & helpful staff. I was greeted by one staff member, helped by another and offered additional help from others. I had to special order the bike from their warehouse and it arrived sooner than originally stated. We had different tires put on and a couple of accessories added, the tires look great against the bike's color (we got compliments on them as we stood there with the bike) and Mike installed the accessories right at the counter for us before we left. The use of first names, handshakes and introductions make/made for a wonderful experience, I would highly recommend this location as a great place to visit if you are thinking about buying a new bike. And not forgetting to mention their selection of reeeally cool bikes (the "Specialized" brand caught my eye), I might be back for a couple more ! ! ! Thanks Mike, Cory is really happy! read more

Well, it's difficult to write this review because I can comment _only_ on showroom stock, as I couldn't get an employee to help me. Came in looking for a new bike for my son (specifically interested in a Specialized, which he has now). They did have some in the showroom so we were able to check them out and my son was able to try a couple on for size, but after 25 mins we gave up. There were 3 or 4 employees and there was no effort to interact with people in the order they came into the store. Before we left I saw at least 2 other customers (one with merchandise in his hand standing around at the register) who simply gave up and left. I appreciated being able to check out a couple bikes in person, but there is no way we will drop $400-700 on a kid's bike at a store where we feel like someone would be doing us a favor by talking to us. The service I received at Erik's Bike and Board Shop in Maple Grove was amazing. It was obvious from the beginning that they were there to assist me in my purchase of a new road bike. Being avid bikers themselves, every sales person had passion and professional expertise they shared. I especially appreciated the care they had in answering my many questions and concerns about this purchase. They actually took more time in getting me perfectly measured and fitted for my new bike. I ended up buying my bike at this shop. I strongly recommend this shop to any bicycle enthusiast. Finally, I believe them when they told me that my purchase is the beginning of my relationship with them, and that they expect me to come in for 2 years of free tune-ups and will answer any questions that I have with my new bike. read more

if I could put negative 5 stars I would. The worst place when it comes to customer service. buy a new bike and when you go to buy a bike they treat you relatively well. I bought a bicycle and it felt something and it made a noise and I took it to fix it and it didn't look good, I went back to say that it didn't look good that it felt the same and the person in a rather rude way said that now what? That they had already done what I had said to him and I said yes, but I didn't agree that if I could please check it again, even ride it, and in a rather annoying way, he said, I don't know what you want? it's okay, I asked him his name and he annoyed me. Jason answered and I am a service manager and your name is Ernesto answered him but his tone and attitude looked very angry and I asked him again, please ride it and I pulled it and he came out very angry to try it back and he told me something is heard but I do not know. I said ok but can it be fixed? And he told me whoever sold it to you did not tell you something about this type of brakes I told him no. In fact, I told him my brother bought me a bicycle like that and he my his hand and show like stop and told me right now I'm not talking about your brother or his bicycle, I am talking about this bicycle to which I answered what happens is that the bicycle that my brother bought is the same brand, the same type of tires and because the person who sold them took good care of him but the truth is I told him that his attitude was not good. I asked him if that guarantee was accepted in another Erik's store and he said yes why? because what I answered the truth, I will not return to this store with your attitude and he tells me that you must understand that we have more than 200 bicycles repairing and he I said ok, I understand but because when you come and buy a new one they don't tell you that they don't have time to adjust it but if you buy it new in 30 minutes they adjust it and they tell me I don't know who sold it to you but this is not that fast I told him ok, he already told me we are going to do the best so that it remains and the truth is, I did not answer him anything, and I left. Now I hope that in retaliation it takes longer to fix my bike. It is worth mentioning that my 10-year-old son who owns the bicycle came out scared and worried, wondering why that man had been so rude. He even told me if you want I don't want my bike anymore. I think the person is racist because I am Latino. I hope they change for the good of the business I WILL NOT RETURN TO THAT STORE. read more
