I emailed Legacy Estate Sales and gave them the opportunity to respond but that hasn't happened. I…read morethought I'd give the perspective from a neighbor rather than a direct client. Legacy had a sale at a neighboring house and they lacked complete consideration. The most egregious issue is that neighbors were not notified of this event in advance. This was an incredibly inconsiderate given it was both Valentine's Day and a holiday weekend. While I understand the goal of a successful sale, the high volume of attendees--estimated at 800-900 people--created a level of disruption that was unmanageable for our neighborhood. Because our streets do not have sidewalks, the lack of traffic control and oversight created a genuine safety hazard for residents and pedestrians! The following concerns were particularly problematic: Traffic & Parking: Without a designated parking plan or staff to direct cars, congestion from speeding vehicles and illegal turns made it difficult for residents to navigate their own neighborhood safely. As a matter of fact, our neighbors had planned to have a party; because their street was overtaken with shoppers' cars, they had to postpone! Property Disturbance: Attendees left trash in neighboring yards, parked in front of fire hydrants and unabashedly approached neighboring properties. Due to a lack of clear signage, people approached our front door and walked brazenly up our driveway both during the day and late into the evening (after 6p). Inadequate Staffing: The single 'security guard' on-site was insufficient for the crowd size. There was no clear communication to buyers regarding neighborhood etiquette or respect for private property. In the future, I ask that Legacy do better and provide advanced notice to the immediate neighbors and hire additional staff to manage parking and crowd control. A more proactive approach would ensure the safety of the community while still allowing your clients to have a successful event.

But when I walked into Selectify it was filled with goodies, arranged so the front had the large furniture, which made the warehouse feel open and inviting. My friend and I set to task, looking for hidden treasure. Ok, I was SUPPOSE to be looking for a desk chair. Selectify had them, but I was more interested in the items I didn't know I needed! LOL Insight on me...I love a duvet cover. I'm not into shoes, clothes are just a necessity(...or are they...?) purses can be fun, but a DUVET COVER??? Well the right one can feel like luxury, comfort and an overall sense of security and well being. Don't know why, just does. So, I saw multiple bins of King & Queen duvets, but they were white, nothing exciting, so I moved on. Just as I was leaving - finding only a MUCH NEEDED pair of floor sweeping slippers, another duvet on display caught my eye. lovely grey with white embroidery. I asked Simon if there were more duvets like this and he happily took me to a large shelf of boxes. Some of the boxes had "comforters" listed, with a sample of each outside the box. He did have to move a few about, but then emerged ANOTHER beautiful duvet. 'Ok, Simon, how much?' '$12' was the reply. SOLD! My new duvet is in the wash as I type, and my slippers have already dusted the floor while Hub's eyes rolled. Am I content? No....I'm thinking about that other duvet and will be back to get it later this weekend. I may also have to grab a couple of beautiful garden pots, which retail $20-$80 elsewhere, at Selectify for $10 -$40. Simon let me know that stock changes daily. If you have something particular in mind, just ask, he knows the inventory and is happy to help. I have a feeling Selectify will be a regular spot for my treasure hunting from now on. Cheers! "CC"

Five stars are not enough for Emily Elkins and The Estate Edit…read more When my sister died, I had to set my grief aside in order to take on the task of clearing out her large home in a very short period of time. I was overwhelmed by the scope of the project until I met Emily Elkins of The Estate Edit. Emily wasn't the first estate liquidator I spoke with, but she was definitely the last. During that initial conversation, I was struck by Emily's compassion, knowledge and professionalism. She assured me that our relationship would be painless and transparent for me and profitable for both of us. She was right on all counts. My sister's home of fifty years was overflowing with artwork, collectibles, cookware, jewelry and coins. Emily, her amazing right hand person Hannah, and their incredible team were able to sort through everything, price items with the help of experts, stage items for maximum impact, discard the mountain of boxes and debris, hold two full weekends of sales, and leave the house in pristine condition once they were done. Emily knew how much my sister's belongings meant to her and treated them with respect and care. She put in long days for a month and a half but still made time to text me daily with updates. I feel so fortunate to have found her. Bottom line: if you need to hire an estate liquidator for any reason, call The Estate Edit. If you hire Emily, you won't regret it.

But now we needed to turn her home full of possessions into future savings for her support. Her small circle of neighbor friends, after striking out with other estate sale companies, got very lucky when we found The Estate Edit. From the first conversations to the initial consultation when Emily visited and gave everything a good, full, honest look, and after she decided that she and Hannah could make this happen, they treated every item, from valuable to trivial, as if our former neighbor was now their family. And then we can talk about how hard they worked--how hard they had to work--in this small home, whose occupant had kept it disorganized and scattered, to make this a success. The staging was amazing. Most of this review was drafted before we even had the financial results of the sale, because the exhaustive and exhausting effort already merited a parade. That we also generated more of a monetary boost to our friend's finances than we had thought possible is a wonderful bonus. Call them. Email them. They will do the one thing every business should do: they will take good care of you.
