Yesterday afternoon I was cruising down Gulf Shore Blvd bopping to some Shania Twain, scarffing down Pretzel Crisps (the blue bag OG flave, naturally) in between lyrics I didn't know, and feeling completely unstoppable. Until suddenly I was STOPPED AT A WICKED HAULT: a red light, a surge of pain, and a "Pretzel Crisp" much too hard to bite into. Plot twist: it wasn't a Pretzel Crisp... it was 3/4ths of my molar. Fortunately I am a fast acting chick. No time to waste on tears. I called up Dr. Rillman, a distinguished Dr who comes highly recommended from my arch enemy (the dentist). Receptionist, Kathy was fast to pull up my records and identify which tooth it was. Not that I had any idea what tooth it was, to me: the tooth that is now in my hand was my only identifier. They had a tight schedule and the next appointment slot wouldn't be until next Thursday! Kathy generously and eagerly took my case up to Dr. Rillman personally-they fit me in for a first thing appointment this morning: bless! This team is so professional, matter-of-fact and detail oriented. But they're also very personable and highly empathetic to my anxiety and low pain tolerance. What kind of mystical magical medical breed is this!? The procedure room is small but comfortable, there's a huge screen tv they pull right up to your face and allow you to change the channel to whatever mind numbing garbage you want while they numb your mouth with the good stuff. They tested my level of numbness multiple times and I felt very secure with the time that was waited before the drilling would begin. Once the process started it was efficient and smooth. Obviously it wasn't ~comfy~ but not so obviously... IT DIDN'T HURT! My big takeaway tip is to bring headphones and blast the most neutral music, louder than you've ever played music before. It doesn't cover the drills completely and it definitely doesn't cover the sensation of the drills. It just really really dilutes the sounds and acts as yet more distraction. My root canal was done in under an hour! One quick pic (of my mouth) and I was released from chair. Kathy was ready with my bill already adjusted per insurance. I swiped my card and flew out the door into the sweet freedom of the world. I am so grateful that Dr. Rillman and team took such excellent care of me this morning. It was expensive and crummy and really inconvenient but they went above and beyond to maKe all those things just a little less traumatic. I mean yeah don't get me wrong I'll be eating beans, canned tuna, and rice for the next month and I'll be popping pain meds every 4-6 hours for the next day or so. He is an endodontist. He is very meticulous and is very efficient. I got a Root canal. High end equipment. The office is clean. The assistant and front desk manager were all very nice and friendly. They take care credit if you don't have insurance. Dr. Rillman took me out of pain and filled my tooth. I have had 2 root canal's on the same tooth and he found the problem and fixed it. Dr. Rillman is the very BEST! I absolutely recommend him! I was dealing with a bad tooth and needed a root canal badly. His office got me in quickly which was such a blessing. Everyone of his staff was friendly and made me feel comfortable. My first root canal and I survived!! Dr. Rillman and his assistant were great and put me at ease. I have a fear of he dentist, hence the root canal. I felt zero pain during the procedure ...yes zero!! Even the three shots of novacaine were painless, thanks to the topical stuff he rubs on your gums. Dr Rillman is by far the best at what he does. It's not a flashy fancy office but once you get what you need done you know it's about the quality. I came here for the first time pregnant and unable to have anything. I was nervous and scared. I walked away with no pain and the days there after I was great. I was shocked and since than I have had two more root canals and every time was great. Office staff is great also and so kind. Plus dr Rillman was so kind during the procedure kept asking if I was okay. I will recommend this office. And I will keep going to this place. read more

If I could give Dr. Rillman a ten star review I would. I am not new to root canals. I have had eight in my lifetime. You can say that I am a professional patient and have been through a lot with my teeth. Being new to the area I was a little nervous about starting new with a different Endodontist. Dr. Rillman came highly recommended to me. I have to say my experience was very pleasant. From the friendly office staff to the professionalism and articulate way of Dr. Rillman I was more than pleased. He made sure from start to finish that I was comfortable. Horrible experience. Very unpleasant. I felt rushed with my service and talked to in a belittling way. The front desk lady (midaged white lady with short hair) was very rude. This place is already hard for customers to go to. It's not easy going to the dentist but to have a good staff that makes you feel welcomed and comfortable is huge and this place did not offer that. The dentist who performed my service and the assistant it made me feel very rushed. Also, I have to get a crown put on and the dentist looked at me and said if you think this was bad just wait till you have to get a crown put on SMH how disrespectful. How rude. Why would you say that to a customer who's already in a scary situation and make them feel even more uncomfortable. I would not recommend this place not even to a homeless person. read more

Dr Rillman has to be the best endodontist in the area. I felt very comfortable from the moment I walked in the door, and once I sat in the dentist chair he made sure i was comfortable and explained everything very well. He has this microscope machine he uses to look into your mouth, it really gave me confidence that he was getting the job done correctly! If I could put 100 stars, I would. I have NEVER had quality service like I had at Dr. Rillman's office. Simply put, he is ultimately the absolute best! Dr. Rillman not only made me feel comfortable and tranquil along with John (his assistant-100 stars for him as well) but he was understanding, compassionate, and he has empathy. All of the qualities a doctor should have. Dr. Rillman is soft spoken and makes you feel very comfortable and confident that all will be well in the work he does. Dr. Rillman is also honest and kind. Dr. Rillman is more than competent, he is a consummate professional, very nice and so is his staff. Dr. Rillman is smart, and is committed to caring for his patients. John, is the most assuring assistant I've ever met. Also soft spoken, John has "it". He knows what he's doing in assisting Dr. Rillman and is an expert in his field. As John works closely with Dr. Rillman, he explains everything to you well, and If you listen to his directions on after care, you will find that everything came out perfectly. Although the services are pricey, (especially if you, like me, have no insurance) I understand the cost of equipment, supplies, overhead and everything else that must be paid. Medical supplies are no joke. They cost a fortune! So.... I get it. I haven't met Jose, but I hear he's wonderful. I haven't met Jesse, but I have spoken with her, and she's also professional and nice. Now as for Nancy at the front desk.... 100 stars! You can't not like this girl! She is also a consummate professional. Nancy loves her work and it shows. She WANTS to help you in any possible way. Nancy cares about the people she works with and speaks very highly of them. FEAR NOT THE ROOT CANAL!!! I've heard the horror stories. We all have. Go to Doctor Rillman and experience something completely different. His team is professional, curteous and prompt. Nancy at the front desk is knowledgeable and comforting, and she scheduled my appointment quickly. John and Doctor Rillman were friendly and worked quickly with, well, sugical precision. They set my mind at ease and explained every step of the process. They even provided me with an after-hours contact (Who does that anymore?), and the one time I used it, Doctor Rillman responded promptly and professionally. Maybe my "regular" dentist should take notes... I wish there were a better way to describe my experience, but alas, I can only give him FIVE STARS. In the end, all I can say is, "Thank you." But now I can say it without tooth pain. read more

Dr. Rillman has a poor bedside manner. I went to have a root canal done, had no problem at first, but my head was spinning the following day. Liquid (water) began gushing out of my nose, got my shirt all wet and formed a puddle on the floor. I was horrified, didn't know what was happening and I frantically called Dr. Rillman's office. The receptionist told me he was at a meeting and was not at the office. I asked that he call me as soon as possible. I waited an hour and he didn't call so I called the office back and insisted that he call me! I didn't know what to do, was angry and afraid at the same time! I received a call from Dr. Rillman shortly after. Instead of trying to calm me down and explain what happened he was angry with me, instead, first for having convinced his receptionist to interrupt his meeting, second, because I was concerned and asked if he had used a caustic solution to flush my roots out which ended-up in my sinus cavity. He was angry and started bullying me when I asked that. He stated he only used water. I was in shock at his anger, but managed to explain that I had done some reading/research online while waiting for his call. He never explained what had happened while we spoke, also didn't apologize for his anger and neither did I for mine. Things were left at that. read more
